There is nothing like traveling until you return home
In my wondering I have traveled to some of the greatest cities in Europe:
London
Paris
I have also been to some unique places in Europe as well:
such as Hallstatt in Austria to visit the Salt Mines
(View from the top of the mountain leading down into the mines.)
Geneva to see the Jet d’Eau
Let’s not forget Keukenhof gardens in Holland! That’s where all the tulips are!
My childhood dream of seeing Neuschwanstein castle came true and my dream of visiting the BMW headquarters in Germany was also fulfilled on my 21st birthday.
In all my travels I enjoyed the food, the people, and the culture. I enjoyed the company of my traveling companions and the miles upon miles that I made them walk to see some of the greatest monuments in the world.
I plan to do more travelling in the future because my adventures are not done yet. However, the one thing that I knew throughout all of my travelling was that one day I would be going home. In my mind I can make a place to stay anywhere. A hostel in Milan located down the street from the city’s “red district,” a cot in the student dormitories where I slept while attending classes at the university of Johannes Kepler, or a park bench in Munich to rest from a day of touring the city.
I can stay anywhere and adapt to the lifestyle of the locals. Walking the same routes every day, taking the same street car to university or to town. Grabbing a drink at a cafe in Paris, sitting down in a movie theater in Linz, Austria to watch the premier of the first Avengers movie, or going to a Hockey game to support the local team. Throughout it all I grew accustomed to travelling light and packing only the essentials (I have to have room for souvenirs of course!)
At the end of the day we always want to go back “home.” Home is when I arrived at the airport and was greeted by my parents and grandparents. Having Chick-fil-a on a Sunday that was saved because it was the first meal I wanted to eat when I returned State-side. Home is the smell of Crêpes, made fresh every morning by my grandfather and served with strawberries as a tradition since before I was born. Yes, I will continue travelling around the world to see its wonders, but I will always return home to good ol’ Atlanta, Georgia, or as we locals say “Adlanna,” because that is where my friends and family have blessed me with the sweetest memories and that is what makes it my home.
Even if they don’t recognize me when I return. lol
