Every student understands at some point in their college career that being frugal is a must in order to survive. So, before you make your judgments about this article telling you not to save money, hear me out!
Having an regular on-campus job has its benefits…for the short term. All it really is simply is a way to have a few extra bucks that you can spend. What it doesn’t provide you are the long term benefits attributing to your major or other future jobs you may want to pursue. This means that just because you got hired to work within the cafeteria or your campus library, it may not add much value to you or your resume in the long term.
Yes, it really won’t. This is where you activate that smart college brain of yours and start looking at jobs around campus that will specifically benefit your major! For example, if you are a Sports Management major then maybe look for a position where you can work within one of your school’s sports teams. Look for work-study programs, these are great to find work related to your course of study. If not those then an internship which is even better for you to work at!
Most of these jobs are paid so you will be compensated for the work that you do!
Each school is different with how they assign jobs to their undergraduate students so it is up to you to figure out where your talents will be used best. The best thing on top of it all, (yes there is something better than getting paid) is that you can beef up your resume with quality experiences that employers are sure to note when you apply to jobs. They will see you took initiative to better your future which shows responsibility and makes you a model applicant.
Bottom line these are ways you can get a step ahead of your peers and killing two birds with one stone! Be prepared, there are exceptions you may run into where you aren’t getting paid. Don’t be afraid to take it! Use this as an opportunity to build experience in your field of study. Humble yourself, it’s okay to not make money, I mean this is your future here.
You can always make money in the job world once you have bettered yourself to reach that top job that others cannot. The sacrifices now will always pay off in the long run. Happy Job hunting!
If you are coming up on your final semesters of school and wondering “Oh no, I have to get an internship this summer!” don’t stress. Semester-based internships in the Fall and Spring are becoming more popular and it may be better for you than you think.
I’ve had Fall, Spring, and Summer internships and I can tell you that my personal favorite time to have an internship is during the Spring.
Having an internship during the school year is a great opportunity to get ahead of you other classmates and advance your skills. I really enjoyed learning about inbound marketing during the spring semester because I could relate it back to my classes.
You honestly learn more at internships than you do in classes.
Summer Internships are nice, however if you are interested in traveling a lot over the summer then adding an internship to that list may not be the best option. Many places have a 14 week program and in order to get the most out of it you want to be as present as possible.
Many people think that having an internship during the school semester may be more challenging because they have classes on top of it. Well, in all honesty it was very easy to manage both 5 classes and a three day a week internship. Taking on an internship during the school year allowed myself to learn how to manage my time more efficiently. It is important to learn how to manage a work/school and life balance while we are in college so you will be able to handle it when we graduate.
Don’t panic if you already passed a summer internship opportunity. Move forward and try one during the school year! Challenging yourself will only help you grow.
If you’re considering moving to Atlanta or simply spending a weekend in the city but don’t think there’s much to do in the Southern city. You are in for a treat, here’s a weekend in the life of a Radius intern.
8:45 am: The traffic isn’t as heavy as the past couple of days and the office mood is relaxing. That’s how you know it’s Friday. I grab some coffee and get started on the rest of any pending marketing projects.
10:45 am: Dogs, so many dogs. All the dogs are running around the office, making their usual rounds to get as many belly rubs as they can from everyone in the office.
12:00 pm: Lunch time! Everyone in the office gathers around a big table to eat lunch together. We have development demos and discuss any accomplishments we’ve had in the past week.
3:30 pm: Everyone is ready for the weekend and in the matter of hours it will be. We’re all trying to be productive with what usually ends up being a throwback Spotify playlist because why not?
5:00 pm: Time to go home!!! I drive home to relax and have a night in with roommates.
11:00 pm: We end up at Victory Sandwich Bar to grab some sandwiches and played by the expert ping-pong players that spend countless hours perfecting their skills in the ping-pong room.
10:30 am: Farmers markets are a huge thing on Saturdays here in Atlanta. Today we stopped by the Freedom Farmers Market for some fresh fruits and vegetables and hand-made bread.
1:00 pm: With Atlanta weather, pool days are a must so we head to the pool with: friends, drinks and music for a good time.
7:30 pm: Walk to Jackson Street bridge, a two in one view of a beautiful sunset and the wonderful skyline of Atlanta.
11:00 am: Sundays are for brunch and in Atlanta, we have some of the best brunch in my personal opinion. Today we go to Ria’s Bluebird in Grant Park (a personal favorite but the Yelp reviews don’t lie). Their biscuits are delicious and definitely worth the 30-minute wait.
2:00 pm: Walk around the neighborhoods in Atlanta to seem some cool street art done by local artists. Whether it’s a wall a tunnel or tiny doors on the BeltLine there’s always something to look out for.
6:00 pm: On Sundays, several people get together to do the one thing that Atlantan love more than brunch and breweries which is free yoga. King of Pops hosts free yoga on the BeltLine every Sunday evening.
7:00 pm: After a relaxing hour of yoga we walk down the BeltLine and find ourselves at Ponce City Market, a food hall with all kinds of different restaurants and boutique stores. We grab a quick bite to eat from one of the small eateries and head back home.
Atlanta has grown to be a fun and interesting city with art murals, Southern hospitality and very unique individuals. It’s an interesting mix which always makes for fun days around the city. Over the last couple of years, new trendy places have been popping up all across Atlanta. The best part about being in Atlanta is that if you get tired of the hustle life in the city you can always drive out for no more than an hour to reach the beautiful nature Georgia has to offer.
Finding an internship is a long and difficult process that I feel like people aren’t always candid about. I just recently finalized my internship and now that I have had a moment to reflect back on the process I have some thoughts and tips for anyone going through the same thing. Sure, every university has career centers who are there to help students with this process but I am here to offer REAL advice that may not be “best practices” but I have seen work first hand. The reality is that you are competing with countless other individuals for a few positions at a company, you need to find a way to differentiate yourself. I offer the following advice for anyone who may be struggling through the process of finding an internship, I feel your pain and I am here to help!
My first bit of advice is to not be afraid to reach out to the company, even if your don’t see a position for an intern posted. It became disheartening when I would submit application after application for an intern position and never hear back, however, when I started finding the email of the HR department and shooting them an email containing a short description about who I am, what I am studying and what I am looking for in an internship my response success greatly increased. I highly suggest sending emails in this way, however, don’t be annoying about it! Send one and if they don’t respond leave it at that, you want to show these companies that you will be an asset to their business, not an annoyance.
Next, and this I learned from my career center, customize your resume! Every company is going to be receiving countless amounts of resumes, most of which will look identical. I suggest you look at the job description and customize your resume to match those qualifications. For example, if the job responsibilities include assisting with content creation for digital marketing materials, make sure to add into your resume some school experience where you created content for a project or an essay and spin it to show the employer that you have experience in this area and they wouldn’t need to worry about whether you are qualified. The more job responsibilities you can cover on your resume, the better. This will allow you to stand out in the piles and piles of resumes that employers receive.
And last but not least, show up. If a company that you have applied for is coming to your university career fair, go and talk to them! Putting a face with a name is always helpful. That being said, go to the career fairs for your area of study! I have a ton of friends who got their jobs just by making a brief but impactful connection with a company recruiter. Use these fairs as a way to network with a variety of different people and companies. I can’t emphasize enough how crucial it is to network when trying to get an internship. It is really hard to get a job, let alone hear back from a company unless you know someone there that can refer you. Don’t let this discourage you but instead it should motivate you to go meet with everyone you can, it’s more fun than it sounds I promise.
I hope you find these tips helpful and you learned something that you might not have known before. I wish someone would have told me these things while I was searching for an internship but as you go through the process you are going to learn what works for you and it might be totally different. Everyone has a different experience when it comes to searching for jobs and internships, just remember to shoot high and be persistent. Show those companies why you are so awesome and it will work out! Good luck!
We can’t believe it, our internship with RadiusOnline is coming to an end. It’s our last day as interns, and we are so sad to say goodbye. We hope you have enjoyed all of our posts along the way and thank you for staying tuned for the ride!
Now, some final thoughts from your friendly Spring 2018 interns:
I can’t believe my time at RadiusOnline is already coming to an end. I am beyond thankful for the time I have spent here learning new things and the AMAZING people I’ve met along the way.
Everything from writing blog posts to learning new things about the digital marketing world to visiting the Chick-Fil-A headquarters, I’ve loved it all! I remember walking in on the first day, nervous, overdressed and unsure about how the semester was going to go. Over three months later and I feel like I have been a valuable part of the RadiusOnline team and was greeted with open arms every step of the way.
I sure am going to miss everything RadiusOnline has to offer when I leave…my little desk with easy access bowl of chocolates, my fellow interns and co-workers, the silly daily conversations in the office, and of course the catered Friday lunches. Thankfully, I will be walking away with so much insight and knowledge beyond what I ever expected to achieve from this role. But for now, onto my next chapter…over and out!
It’s crazy to think how quickly this semester came and went. It literally feels like just yesterday when I accepted the position. Being able to learn as much as I have in the last few months is amazing. During my time here, I enjoyed going to the Braves game (in a suite!), the Chick-fil-a tour, catered Friday lunches, and most importantly learning from some really smart people.
I want to personally thank Vu, LanNhi, and Katherine for this opportunity. Also, a special shout out to Whitney! One of the sweetest people I have ever met…Ever. I’m truly grateful to have been given the opportunity to work here. Anyone who is considering applying, just do it. You’ll learn so much and enjoy many perks and surprises but most importantly great company. Thanks for everything y’all!
Radius Online is amazing! I’ve had my fair share of internships and this program was the absolute BEST! When interning here, you actually learn and obtain new skills that will help you for your future career. I am so lucky to have worked with these amazing people and my fellow Interns. ***Oh, and the free Friday lunches are a bonus***
When I interviewed for the Spring Intern Position I knew that I wanted to work here and be part of this amazing company culture. I’m so thankful for everyone who has taught me while being here.
My advice to you: APPLY ! APPLY!! APPLY!!!! You won’t regret it!
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying Goodbye so hard” These four months of my internship has given me a lot to learn, more than just PHP. RadiusOnline has given me new Friends and an extended family. Many inspirational people around me from my mentor Joshua, inspiring Vu (exceptionally inspirational thoughts), very caring LanNhi, always warm welcoming Emily- Kathy -Whitney, always loving buddies Irian –Swan- Vinny-Jenny, finally my awesome friends Anna –Britney- Chris and everyone in this office Viri-Henry-Dalton- Isak-Montana…. .
Special mention my mentor Joshua has been the best in helping me learn GIT ,PHP , Symfony…“break the codes to learn more.” I will proudly tell I have been around awesome people who do awesome things. It was fun learning!!!!
Traveling abroad is all fun and games until you actually have to start preparing for it. It’s easy to become overwhelmed at the sight of a long checklist and you may even see the procrastination start to kick in. No need to stress, I’ve compiled this helpful checklist of tasks that you need to consider before you leave for your next trip:
If you’re traveling anywhere outside of your home country, you are obviously going to need a passport. If you already have one, check to make sure it hasn’t expired. Don’t wait too long to get your passport because it could take as long as EIGHT WEEKS for your passport to be in your hands!
To ensure you get the best deals, make sure to book your flights, hotels, or Airbnbs well in advance. The further in advance you purchase your tickets, the cheaper they cost. Consider looking into booking through a travel booking website such as Travelocity or Expedia to ensure you get the best deals.
Pro tip: the best days to buy plane tickets are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. That’s when tickets are usually cheaper.
Your mom will probably bug you about this one, but it’s important to print off some extra copies of your important documents such as your passport and ID to keep with you on your trip. This is just in case of an emergency if you somehow lose track of them. You don’t want to be stranded in a foreign country unable to leave if your passport gets lost or stolen.
Do you know what the conversion rate is? Will your debit or credit card work in the country you are going to? Does your bank or credit card provider know you will be leaving the country? These are some critical questions you need to know the answers to before you leave. Always make sure to have some local cash on you for places like trains or buses, so stop by an ATM once you get to your destination and take some cash out. It’s also important to let your bank know where you’re going because they might think you are encountering fraud when they get notice that your card is being used to buy pasta in Italy. So, to avoid being locked out of your account, just call your bank to let them know that you’re going overseas.
While you are away, you will want to be able to communicate with your family and friends back home. It’s important to figure out if your phone will work overseas and determine how much it will cost you. Some phone services offer phone plans specifically for overseas travel which can include calls, texts, and even data usage. If you don’t want to spend much on phone charges, consider downloading a free messaging and calling app such as WhatsApp or Viber.
Traveling to a new country means you will experience different culture with new customs. Do some research and make sure to pack clothes that are appropriate for the places you are traveling to. For instance, if you are going to be visiting Notre Dame Cathedral in France, you may want to think twice about wearing those booty shorts or sleeveless shirts. There may not be an enforced dress code, but it’s important to be respectful in a place of worship and know that they might deny you entry if your clothing choices are inappropriate. On a lighter note, you should also consider what the weather will be like when you’re there and pack accordingly. Dressing in layers is always a good idea for traveling abroad!
Something you might not think about right off the bat is whether or not you will need an adapter or power converter for your chargers. Pretty much any country you go to you will need to get some sort of adapter for your chargers because they have different plug outlets. Luckily, you can pick some up at practically any store such as Target or Walmart. This is also a good time for you to make sure you have all the chargers you will need throughout your trip for your phone, camera, laptop, etc.
How will you know where to go once you get to your destination? On my previous trips abroad, I found it helpful to download maps and travel guides to my phone before I departed from America. That way, I could figure out where to go the moment I arrived. Some people still use paper maps, but you may be better off using some technology to guide you!
Give yourself enough time to do all of the tasks above. Traveling abroad can be stressful if you don’t prepare yourself well enough. Stick to these tips when planning your next trip to ensure yourself an easy travel. Bon voyage….and take lots of pictures!
We all know that working is essential to life. We need money to buy food, pay for housing, and of course get those Netflix subscriptions. It’s becoming easier and easier to put in extra hours by working from home or staying in the office after hours to finish up a project. However, plenty of people fail to realize that we should work to live not live to work. No one ever looks back on life and wishes they would have worked more. No one. For the most part, most people will say that work-life balance is important to them, but many have no idea how to actually achieve it. So, here are some tips on how to achieve and maintain work-life balance.
First and foremost, whether you’re the boss or the employee, work should be left at work. A way to go about making sure you don’t bring work home with you is to create a transitional routine that helps your brain disconnect from the workday. Some things to consider doing are exercising, listening to music or podcasts during your commute home, or even making a physical list of what needs to be done at work the next day and forgetting about it until you return back to your job. The whole point of all of this is to let go of the workday stress so that you won’t bring it home with you.
Plenty of people are quick to put their hobbies and passions aside in order to stay that extra hour at work to put those final touches on that presentation or finalize that project that’s been put on the back burner one too many times. However, this isn’t ideal. Take the time to paint, read, be a mentor, play video games, or whatever it is that makes you happy. Doing the things you are actually passionate about will bring fulfillment to your life. You’ll have something to look forward to after work. Also, doing what you love will help decrease stress.
Please. Please. Pleaaase make sure to actually have a social life. Don’t blow off plans with your loved ones because you’re staying late at the office again or because your work day was long and stressful. Being around loved ones can help take your mind off of work, and you’ll get to create new and fun memories with them. Some ways to make sure you maintain your social life would be to attend regular activities such as art classes, book clubs, or even weekly dinners with friends. You can even plan fun activities to do on a weekday so that you’ll have something to look forward to midweek, and you won’t even have to wait until the weekend to do something exciting!
It’s important to set some goals when it comes to your job. For example, write down what you need to do on a weekly basis, and then make tasks from that goal list and do a few of them each day. This way, you’ll be able to leave work and feel satisfied with finishing the tasks you planned for yourself. Just make sure to be realistic about what you can and cannot finish in a day and don’t wear yourself thin. If you happen to not finish your daily goals, put the leftover tasks on your to-do list for the next day and finish then first thing in the morning.
Just like with work goals, you should set some life goals. Make those plans to travel become a reality. Plan to buy a home or relocate to a new city or even a new country. Learn something new. Simply make sure you’re setting goals for yourself outside of work. The objective is to always be striving for personal growth. Take into consideration what is important to you in your personal life, and then make career choices based on those decisions. Only you can decide what you want for your life, so get to figuring all of that out and make it happen.
Last and certainly not least, make time for yourself. Although family, friends, and work are all important, your me time is equally as important. Take time to do something that you enjoy such as watching that TV show you’ve been meaning to watch, going to a new restaurant alone, taking a walk in the park, or even simply just be alone and do nothing. Set aside time to make sure you are taken care of whether that is mentally, physically, emotionally, and/or spiritually. Being in tune with yourself will help you maintain a healthy work and personal life. So, don’t skimp out on or feel bad for wanting that alone time.
Overall, if work-life balance is important to you, make sure to put in the effort to actually achieve it. You don’t have to wait to start incorporating some of these tips in your daily life. Choose one and start today!
The stress from today
Travels with me again tomorrow
Like weights on my shoulders
Unable to be thrown off
Until daylight shines
Lifting it away
But not for very long
Because the stress from yesterday
Starts again tomorrow.
This a quote written by Jordan, a poet. Well, it is so true. Life these days has become so complicated that even kids are stressed out. Everyone who has ever held a job will surely relate to it. I’m sure at RadiusOnline it might be very different. Like this:
But in general a regular yoga practice can assist with reducing stress, anxiety and tension. Taking a few moments to de-stress is vital to maintaining a healthy mind, body and spirit. “Sukhasana” is a basic seated yoga posture which is considered as a very common pose that can be practiced by both beginners and practitioner. Its name comes from two Sanskrit words: “Sukha” — meaning “easy,” “comfortable,” or “joy” (from “su,” meaning “good,” and “kha,” meaning “space”) and “Asana” — meaning “pose”. Steps to do this yoga position:
I . Sit down normally on the floor. Stretch out your legs ahead in front.
II . Now cross your legs and broaden your knees, so that you can slip each feet under the opposite knee.
III . After that, you have to bend your knees along with the fold of your legs.
IV . Keep your feet loose, so that the external edges lay on the floor and the inner curves are settled beneath the inverse leg.
V . Your thighs and crossed legs ought to frame a little triangle. Keep some space between your feet and pelvis.
VI . Now sit with your back in a neutral position. Attempt to hold for a breath or two and after that gradually bring yourself back down on to the floor.
VII . Balance your tail bone and pubic bone in a manner that they are equidistant from the floor.Keep your hands on your knees with palm facing down and expand your tailbone against the floor. As you slow your breath, your mind will begin to calm down.
Life is short to stress yourself so stay stress free . How ? KEEP SMILING
Videos! Everyone watches them and a lot of people nowadays are creating them. Whether you are a video specialist, film student, vlogger, or even avid snapchat user, you are probably creating videos on a daily. Lets face it, we LOVE watching videos! We learn from videos, we cry while watching them, and we even get inspired to do crazy things (a.k.a. me after watching a GoPro video).
Though watching them is easy, creating them may be slightly more difficult. Luckily for you, I’m here to give you 4 tips for creating a video with ANY purpose.
There are so many cameras available to choose from but my favorite is my GoPro! Depending on the video you want to create, you might have to have a specific camera (such as scuba diving…you will need a GoPro for that). Other cameras that are great are DSLR’s, Black Magics, and even your iPhone! So many people are using their iPhones instead of cameras that cost hundreds of dollars for videos nowadays ….don’t believe me? Check out Kanye West’s music video for “Only One”. That entire music video was filmed on an iPhone.
Whether you want to make a music video, PSA, or a vine (RIP vine)… your video should have a purpose. The main purpose of video is to improve the understanding and comprehension of an idea. This could include wanting to make someone laugh, cry, learn, or entertain. That’s for you to decide. The greatest goal of a video is to inform, inspire, or entertain people.
NO ONE and I mean NO ONE will want to watch a video that is blurry or that has terrible audio. There are factors you should consider when filming. Try to choose a location that is relatively quiet so your camera can pick up audio. Also, make sure the location has great lighting that isn’t too dim nor too bright (watch out for natural sunlight).
This tip applies to people who want to edit their video by using a software before they publish it. There are different softwares for different levels of editors. Apple iMovie is the most basic form of software for beginners. Apple FinalCut is a more advanced software for editors who want to add special effects to their videos. Adobe Premiere Pro is the most advanced form of software, most film editors use this software (but just because its the most advanced does not mean its terribly difficult).
Now that you know some concepts on creating a video, go out and make the most amazing video that anyone has seen!!! (…..or at least one that your Grandma will like).
Congratulations! You made it through four exhausting years of tests, papers, bad decisions, all-nighters and much more. Now it’s time to buckle down and start thinking of what you want to do with your life after graduation. Who are we kidding, we all know that this dilemma crosses your mind daily and causes you to have constant stress and anxiety.
Well, you can wipe the sweat and tears off your face because one thing I will not be telling you is to go headfirst in finding a full-time job directly after graduation. Although many people have success with it, there are other options out there to think about! Luckily for you, I compiled some alternative options for your post-college plans:
Everyone says it, but not everyone does it! Traveling the world or just the country can give you so much life experience that college (or even a job) can’t give you. Taking some time to explore and endure other cultures can be a nice way to debrief from the non-stop hustle and bustle that is college. If you’re unsure about some cheap and exciting travel locations, check out this Bustle article that may lead you down the right path! Plus, when will you ever have this much guilt-free spare time again?
At this point you’re probably tired of school, but if you have reconsidered your desired career path or you just want to gather some more knowledge, going to graduate school or some form of higher education might be your best option. Plus, with the addition of your second degree, you have a higher chance of getting paid more in the long-run!
You’re just out of college and you have no idea what to do next. Volunteering is a great way for you to help make the world a better place, while also benefiting yourself a little along the way. Volunteer numbers have been decreasing over the past couple of years in the U.S., making volunteering even more vital. In efforts to making the world a better place, volunteering can also help build your resume, give you a new outlook on life and help you find inspiration for your future.
If you’re looking to make money, but are hesitant about starting a full-time job, maybe working part-time or freelancing is something to consider. There’s nothing wrong with getting a part-time job doing something you love to help gather up some funds. On that note, freelancing is also a great way to make some money on your own terms while also doing what you’re good at and showing off your skills!
Being an intern after graduation is a great way to get your feet wet in the professional world. You can gain valuable experience, make connections and also discover what you like or don’t like in a future job. Not to mention, internships look great on your resume and can often lead to full-time jobs if you’re lucky!
This can apply to anyone and everyone who has recently graduated college. You can learn a lot about yourself just by having fun and making mistakes. Take this odd period after graduation to do things you’ve never had time to do while in school. People always talk about the “real world” as simply being a professional or being a full-time adult, but I’d like to think the real world is just what you decide to do with your life and how to find your path on your own.
“Do what you love, not what you think you’re supposed to do.”
No matter what you choose to do after college, just remember that there is no right or wrong choice. As cheesy as it is, do what’s best for YOU! Eventually you’ll end up where you’re meant to be, right?
Every year, thousands upon thousands of college students graduate and hope to start their freshman year of life with a bang. As young adults looking to start their professional careers, finding a job can sometimes be difficult. Some graduates look for a job in or close to the cities where they are already located and others hit the ground running in hopes of finding a job in their dream city.
Well, not everyone wants to stay where they are or knows exactly where they want to go. Picking up a map and just choosing a location isn’t going to work either. You’ve got to do your research. That is where I come in. I’ve scoured the internet and put together a list – a very unofficial list – of 5 cities that’s great for young professionals. In no particular order, let’s get started.
If you’re a weirdo like me, then Austin may be a great choice for you. Keep Austin Weird is the city’s slogan, and it was originally created in order to promote small businesses in Austin. Austin was also listed as our top city to start a small business! The unemployment rate is also under 4%, and there is no state income tax. So, jobs and money shouldn’t be a concern if you’re interested in relocating to Austin. Don’t be worried about getting out there and meeting new people either! Austin is a lively city with plenty to do ranging from nightlife, live music festivals, outdoorsy stuff, and great food and coffee (Hello breakfast burritos!). So, if you’re a creative, young professional and don’t mind getting a little weird, then I believe Austin is calling your name!
Dubbed the Mile High City, Denver has been a top relocation choice for young adults, specifically Millennials. Not only is it number 2 on our aforementioned list for top cities to start a small business, over 30% of the city’s populations is between the age of 18-34 and the unemployment rate is a very teeny weeny 2.2%. As far as things to do,you can participate in Denver’s active nightlife, extensive food and beer scene, and outdoor activities. Skiing anyone? Make your way to Denver if you like city living and love the mountains.
Hotlanta. A-Town. The Big Peach. The Empire City of the South. Whatever you want to call it, Atlanta is another place to be for young professionals. Or, maybe I’m biased? *shrugs* Not only is Atlanta another great place to start a small business, it’s a great city to get your feet wet and kick off your career. The job market is growing and the cost of living is low compared to many other comparable cities. You’ll also get a good mix of urban and suburban here. And, if you’re look for things to do, check out the World of Coke, the Aquarium, Olympic Park, and the nightlife, food, and shopping scenes. If you’re looking for a good place to start out, come and join me and my fellow ATLiens (not an official name, but you gotta love OutKast) here in Atlanta.
*Side Note: We’ll know if you’re not from here if you pronounce the t’s in Atlanta lol.
First, let me say that while San Francisco’s rent is comparable to that of NYC, don’t let that scare you off. San Francisco’s unemployment rate is just a little under 3%, and its workers are usually well compensated. Around 23% of the residents there are between 25 and 34. Boasting a hip nightlife, great food scene, and a location near Silicon Valley, countless Millennials have made their way here. If you’re a young professional looking to jump into anything to do with tech or startups then you should definitely give thought into living in San Francisco.
And last but certainly not least, the City of Lakes. Minneapolis not only is affordable but only has an unemployment rate of exactly 3%, so finding a job shouldn’t be too much of a problem. On average about 23% of a worker’s salary goes toward housing which is great for professionals who are working in entry level positions. With all of that extra cash left over, you can make your way over to the Mall of America or choose to explore cultural landmarks such as the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and Walker Art Center. If you love art and the outdoors, Minneapolis could be the right fit for you.
Overall, choosing somewhere to relocate to can be a pain, especially when you’re just getting started in your profession or don’t know much about what other places have to offer. I just hope this list helps you out a little or gave you a few cities to think about.
Blog, Blog, Blog. All of the sudden when I was asked to write a blog, I was so clueless but excited. Pictured myself as a successful blogger and even started to believe that blogging is everything I need. But as soon as you start writing your first blog post, your feelings change. You develop some kind of confusion and fear. Bit of mixed feelings. Then I sat back to write down what One needs, to write a blog.
Just like all the beginners, I started browsing, ended up searching 56 sites and 3 dozen topics like these:

Some topics like “Top 35 Blogging Ideas That Are Guaranteed to Be Popular” made me realize that blogs were not about just writing. It had more; others should find your thoughts interesting, creative and honest. I felt stuck, and probably a bit depressed. I started asking for suggestions from everyone: friends, bloggers and from my cute doggie too. People told me…
“Think…Think….even if you’re walking or having lunch. An idea may strike at any time and any place, and you’ll need to make a note of it.”
I even searched what blog really meant. Wikipedia just described it as a discussion or informational website published for more informal diary-style text entries. It drove me crazy, finally I decided to honestly write what I felt and what I went through while trying to write a blog.

Final thoughts: just write your heart out!
Communicating is difficult, you are probably thinking …no it’s not, I talk to my friends ALL the time. EXACTLY! It’s easy to talk amongst our friend group and people who we are comfortable with but how about talking with your boss or your professor? What about having a conversation with that stranger in the elevator that you see everyday but never speak to (instead you look at your phone to avoid awkward conversation). No worries, you’re not alone, but lucky for you i’m here to share 5 ways that can help you grow your verbal communication skills!
It sounds silly but in all honesty this is a great first step to improve your communication skills. Do you ever think about how many messages you send back and forth to a friend or family member compared to a call? Or when you do call them you awkwardly talk for a few minutes and hope that the conversation ends soon. END THIS HABIT!!! Force yourself to call people when asking to meet up or when it’s someone’s birthday rather than texting them, this can help get a point across and show a more personal meaning behind the conversation. The first step to improving a skill is forcing yourself to do that set skill and becoming comfortable with doing it. Challenge yourself to call someone once a day! It’s harder than it looks but it will help!
When communicating, acting like you know everything that the person is saying (in fear of looking dumb) is not a great way to understand the content from the conversation. Asking questions will help you learn more and improve your skills by gaining self confidence when engaging in a conversation. This is great for interviews, most employers highly respect candidates that ask questions because it shows that they are highly engaged in the conversation and interested in learning more about the job itself.
Research shows that “how we position our bodies causes chemical reaction in us that build our confidence” STAND TALL when you want to get a point across, it shows more credibility and can influence others. Slouching and crossing your arms shows a lack of opening yourself up, it also implies that you are reserved and less influential.
Joining a club or organization is a great way of improving your communication skills. This requires you to speak up and discuss topics that are necessary in order to pursue the organization’s goal. Great organizations to join are Toastmasters and TEDx. Toastmasters is an organization that solely focuses on improving communication (speech) and leadership skills. TEDx is a organization that emphasizes on ideas that excite. As a member you will find speakers and help coach them on their talks.
Force yourself to have at least ONE meaningful conversation with someone everyday. When you go to the grocery store, initiate a conversation with the cashier. After class, meet with your professor and discuss a topic that you either understood or didn’t comprehend with them. Practicing your communication skills daily will help you immensely!
Regardless of the different platforms used in the workplace today, email is still considered one of the most used professional communication tools. Over the years, the digital world has changed the way that we communicate with our peers, both socially and professionally. It’s tempting to type out a quick text message, send a silly Snapchat or Facebook message to get your questions answered and points across, but it’s just not the same as a good, old fashioned email!
Don’t worry, whether you’re new to the professional world or you just want to perfect your corresponding techniques with other professionals, these tips can help you become an expert in email etiquette!
When emailing someone professionally, you can’t assume that they know or remember who you are. If you think they might not remember you, remind them who you are by beginning the email with a quick introduction to help them understand why you might be emailing them. This also helps the reader connect to you on a slightly more personal basis.
The subject line is the first thing your recipient sees before opening up an email and can help catch the reader’s attention. It’s important to make sure the subject line is simple and understandable, but not too vague. If it’s too vague, it can end up looking like spam. It should be short and to the point and relatively descriptive of what is discussed in the email.
Before writing the email, think about who will be reading it. Is this person more on the formal side or are they a little more informal and laid back? You should write in the language that they would write in. (Note: if you are unsure of your recipient’s writing style, it’s wise to go with a more formal tone. You know what they say… it’s better to be overdressed than underdressed!)
Making your emails simple and easy to read is an essential, yet often overlooked aspect of email writing for many people. According to Inc., white space is your friend when it comes to formatting. Spacing out different points and paragraphs throughout your email can make your message clean and easy to follow. It’s also important to keep your emails concise and stick to one main topic so you don’t overwhelm the reader. Following these rules will allow the recipient to easily scan and digest your email’s information.
There’s nothing that says “unprofessional” like typos and styling errors. Even if you don’t think there could possibly be any mistakes or typos in your email, let’s face it… there probably are. Just read over your message before clicking the send button. It may even be helpful to wait to insert the recipient’s email address until after you have finished writing and proofreading your email. I know it’s tempting to just type out your email and immediately hit send, but save yourself and proofread your writing.
After you’ve completed your email, it’s customary to conclude with a signature. It allows your recipients to get a final sense of who you are and help them learn more about you. Typically, your signature should include your name, company name, and any other contact information like your phone number or links to your social media accounts. If you’re composing an email on your mobile device, Business News Daily recommends deleting the “sent from iPhone” message at the bottom of your email. It can make you seem less professional.
Maybe you have been emailing back and forth with a coworker or future employer three or four times now and you are getting tired of starting every email with some variation of “Good afternoon Mr._____,” or “Hello Mrs.______,”. It may seem repetitive, but it is more professional to continue addressing your recipient throughout your email thread rather than stopping two emails in and immediately spewing out information at the beginning of your emails.
Using words and phrases meant for texting and informal social communication in your professional emails is not in your best interest. Abbreviations anywhere from “legit” to “totes” should be left out and replaced with the real word. If you type like an adult, you will be perceived as one. This also includes the use of emojis. There is a time and a place for your favorite emojis…but definitely not in a professional email.
Writing a professional email can be difficult and frustrating, but hopefully with the help of these eight tips and some practice, you can email like an expert in no time!
It’s a new semester. That means there’s new interns on the block! So, I’m going to kick off our semester and first blog post with a little inspiration.
First and foremost, let me introduce myself. I’m Brittney, one of the new Inbound Marketing interns here at RadiusOnline. I’m a 23 year old who graduated from the University of Georgia 8 months ago. (Go Dawgs!) While at the moment, it’s easy for me to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It hasn’t always been that way. In my mind, I expected to have moved out of my family’s home and kick started my career with a full-time position making bank and balling on a semi-adult like budget. However, that obviously isn’t the case.
After graduation, I had a plan. What that plan was doesn’t really matter anymore because that’s in the past. That plan fell through, and months went by. I saw and heard about people finding jobs and moving away. Yet, there I was. In the same place I had been for a while. But, brighter days were to come. I just didn’t know it yet.
“Don’t look back, you’re not going that way.”
So, here I am. An intern. Again. But, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. This internship came at the perfect time. I got the call for an interview a couple weeks after I started to be more positive about the job search. I created positivity around me and positive things started to happen. I’m at a company where learning and getting hands-on experience is encouraged, there are no dumb questions, and everyone is willing to lend a helping hand. The people care about each other. And, the company culture fits me to a T. Even though I’ve only been here for a couple of weeks, I’m already enjoying this place.
“You can’t be both awesome and negative. Choose one.”
The important thing to take away from this is that this exact moment in time is exactly where all of us are meant to be. This is your journey and your journey only. It’s easy to compare ourselves to others, but we have to realize that success isn’t black and white. It isn’t a straight line to be followed. We have to individually determine what it means to be successful and what it means to be living a life worth living. That’s going to be different for each and every person. So, keep shining. Keep moving forward. And, don’t let anyone (including yourself) put you down for being where you’re meant to be. Yes, I know all of this may sound corny. Or, it may be something you already heard before, but it’s always good to be reminded to keep (or start) basking in your awesomeness and always, always, always do you!
You thought you’d found your brother the PERFECT surprise Christmas gift. He’d never think to ask for a psychedelic Grateful Dead afghan for his new apartment, but you just knew once he unwrapped that comfy throw, he’d never be able to imagine his life without it again.
That is… until he was ready to buy you a gift and logged onto the shared Amazon Prime account that you used to order his.
We’ve all been there. It’s not frugal for more than one member of a family to pay for Amazon Prime, but it seems impossible to keep any purchase a secret.
Whether you’re shopping for people who share your account, or just want some privacy, here are 5 preventative measures to take to keep Amazon from broadcasting your purchase information to the entire household.
First, turn off all email or text message alerts connected to your account if the account owner is okay with not being notified of every purchase. This way, surprises for the person whose email and phone number are linked to the account aren’t ruined before your package even arrives. To do this, update your preferences in your account, under “Email alerts, messages, and ads.”
Amazon Household allows you to add an additional Amazon account to a Prime membership. You can order things on your personal Amazon account/login, even if you aren’t the one with Prime. The things you shop for on your personal account will not show up on the Prime holder’s account while you get to reap their Prime benefits.
To attach your account, go to the Prime owner’s account page, then “Amazon Household,” under “Shopping programs and rentals.” This won’t solve all problems if you have several people using the Prime account, but it’s the perfect solution for a duo.
Tired of your entire family being prompted to buy tampons, makeup remover and dandruff shampoo after your most recent purchase? Under “Your Recommendations,” go to “Improve Your Recommendations.” You can manually check the “Don’t Use for Recommendations” box next to any past purchase you don’t want reappearing.
Next, toggle over “Browsing History,” located in the top left corner of your screen. Click “View and Edit,” then delete all browsing history. Next, click the orange and white switch to turn your browsing history off completely. The only catch to this is that the browsing history only remains off on the device you’re currently using, so you’ll have to corral the fam into following these steps on every device that they use.
As a last resort, you can somewhat hide your Amazon orders. This is done by archiving specific orders. The order will not be completely deleted, but it will be moved to an archived area and will be hidden better from snoops. To do this, go to your orders and select “Archive Order,” next to whatever you wish to hide. This is another tip that is most effective when all sharers are doing it, because you don’t want to see something meant for you when you go to the orders page to archive what you purchased.
There are quite a few hoops to jump through to gain privacy on a shared Amazon Prime account. However, if you can convince your household to agree to take these preventative measures during the holiday season, the fun surprises will be worth it!
For the past two semesters I’ve been interning part time at RadiusOnline while also taking a full load of classes. I can assure you that this is no easy task. I have by no means mastered the art of time management, but I have learned a few tricks along the way to make my busy life a little easier. I’ve whittled it down to the top three things you can do to help make juggling both classes and work a little bit easier.
Staying organized is one of the best ways to help ease the stress of working and going to school full time. For me personally, if I don’t write something down I will most likely forget about it. I’ve been able to remedy this by writing down everything I need to get done for the day and crossing things off as I get them done (which is the most satisfying thing ever). You can try this tactic, or do whatever else helps you feel the most organized so that you can set yourself up to succeed.
Managing your time while working and taking classes is hard, but being closed off about your schedule makes it even harder. Try to be as transparent as possible when it comes to your scheduling needs. For example, if you can only work certain days of the week due to class constraints, have an open dialogue about it. Being upfront with your employer about your schedule can make everything so much easier.
While some students may be able to get home and binge watch Netflix, that’s not usually an option for us working students. When we get back from work we have homework to worry about and when we get back from class it’s usually time to go to work. So when you do have free time use it to do whatever it is you need to do, whether that’s homework or projects or even just taking a well-deserved nap. Just make sure you’re not wasting your very limited free time doing things that aren’t important.
Working and taking classes can be hard but it is absolutely do-able. Juggling the two can be stressful at times, but if you implement these tips you will be on the way to mastering that work/school balance.
BUJO. Future log. Analog system. Rapid logging. Signifiers.
No, we’re not traveling through time. We’re BULLET JOURNALING.
This semester, Helena and I (Kristen) have taken up bullet journaling together. It started with a few used notebooks, and over time, we have acquired sharpies, fancy journals, colored highlighters and those super cool felt tipped paper mate pens. No stickers (yet).
The bullet journal was created by Ryder Carroll. It is a simplified planning and organization system meant to seamlessly adjust into any person’s life. Basically, it can be as intricate or relaxed of a system as you want.
As the BuJo craze swept the nation, Helena and I jumped onto the hype train. Here is why we adapted the method and what our favorite things to do in our bullet journals are.
Kristen
Why I Started
I was tired of writing “organize planner” on my to-do list. As a perfectionist, it was hard for me to find a planner that encompassed my every need. I loved the fancy ones with extras, like goal setting tabs, but found that I didn’t have time to fill them in consistently, and would get stressed over incomplete pages. The simplified ones did not have enough structure for me. I tried digital organizers, like reminders on my phone, but nothing stuck. I was also adding more and more incomplete journals to my collection by the week- I had one for gratitude, one for travel, one for my experiences in Atlanta, one for “general things” (what?!)… I was going mad trying to keep up with all of my thoughts and the systems I’d created for myself and expected myself to uphold. And then one morning, Helena walked into work and ask, “Have you heard of bullet journals?” My life was changed. I will never again get halfway through a planner before deciding it doesn’t work for me anymore and I need to get a new, better one today, wait, no, RIGHT NOW. With a bullet journal, I can keep all of my plans, to-do’s, and (neurotic) thoughts in one place.
My Favorite Things to BuJo
-Monthly spreads with tasks to complete that month
-Habit trackers
-Activity brainstorms when I’m going to be visiting a new place
-Quotes
-Lists!!! Packing lists, book lists, wish lists… etc.
Helena
Why I Started
I wish I was good at art. My art capabilities consist of drawing a stick figure. But I like the concept of doodles of plants and flowers, dreamy calligraphy, and colorful notes. I use my bullet journal as a creative outlet of physically putting down all my thoughts. I use it as my low commitment, whatever-whenever journal to make random lists, plans, ideas, and reminders. It’s filled with lists of places to go hiking, grocery lists, books I want to read, and meals I’ve ordered at my favorite restaurant in West Midtown. It’s filled with doodles of cacti, globes, and pumpkins. It’s all over the place and it’s not perfect. But for me, that’s enough. I want to be able to flip through it and remember everything that was on my mind and this point in my life.
My Favorite Things to BuJo
-Gratitude log
-Spending log
-Weekly spreads of my really busy weeks
-Goals for the year
The bullet journal has combined planning, list making, and journaling all into one outlet. And if you’re like us and you love making lists and staying organized, what are you waiting for? Get started and journal with a purpose.
“Visual content is more than 40 times more likely to get shared on social media than other types of content” (Source: Hubspot).
Let’s face it. We all prefer to look at visuals, graphics, and photos more than reading. It’s human nature. A picture is worth a thousand words.
The visual content paired with any tweet, Instagram, status update, check in, or blog post sets the tone for the message. It draws you in before you even know you’re drawn in.
That’s why we, as marketers, should all be using the powerful, free graphic design website tool, Canva.
Canva is the best tool I’ve encountered for making stunning, professional graphics. It’s user-friendly. It’s drag and drop. AND it’s completely free. Say goodbye to Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop!
Canva has the power to create every graphic design imaginable, such as graphics online for social media posts, website banners, e-book covers, presentations, and Facebook ads, to printable graphics like flyers, resumes, and business cards. And everything in between.
There’s beautiful pre-built templates if you don’t know where to start, or you can start from scratch and completely customize your own.
Canva has unique photos, icons, clip art, lines, and whatever elements you need to really get creative.
Additionally, they offer attractive fonts and pre-built font pairings so it does all the work for you.
Canva is one of the most overlooked and underrated tools for marketers to create visual content. So shout out to you, Canva. You’re doing amazing, sweetie.
During this season of life, I have discovered the holy grail of commuting into a city. It’s the one thing that will make you quickly forgive reckless drivers, melt away your stress while sitting in the same spot on the Interstate for 30 minutes, and wipe away your tears as you watch your estimated arrival time tick up with every passing minute.
Just kidding. But I did start listening to podcasts during my commute to Atlanta.
They won’t actually erase the stress acquired from big-city driving, but they will help you feel like your hours spent weekly on the road aren’t wasted. You can use podcasts to learn about new subjects, develop current hobbies, gain goal-crushing levels of motivation, or simply decompress after your workday.
There are an abundance of podcasts out there, and the sheer number of people now sharing their radio-voices with the world can be overwhelming. I suggest picking a topic you’re interested in and doing some research, but for now, I’ve done a little bit of the work for you.
Here are 5 podcasts, coming highly recommended from ME, to make your commute suck a little less.
This American Life
For people who enjoy moving stories, gaining new perspective, and the human experience.
This American Life is released weekly, produced by Chicago Public Media and hosted by Ira Glass. The best way I can describe This American Life is as a platform for people to tell their stories… but it’s so much more than that. Their website has a favorites page, which is a good place to start listening to see if their storytelling methods connect with you. I recommend beginning with episode 597: One Last Thing Before I Go, ESPECIALLY if you like crying in the car on the way to work! Just kidding, but after listening to this ep, I called at least three people and demanded they listen to it. I wish I could give this podcast more justice, but words can’t quite describe how touching and well-crafted it truly is.
Anna Faris is Unqualified
For people who like laughing, the entertainment industry, Dear Abby and crude language.
I’ll admit, I hadn’t given Anna Farris much thought before becoming a fan of her podcast. Sure, The House Bunny is hilarious, and yes, I was a little too sad about her and Chris Pratt’s split for someone who has never met either party… but I’ve never even seen Scary Movie. HOWEVER, her hilarious and surprisingly insightful podcast has turned me. I might even order her book. The podcast is marketed as “not-so-great relationship advice from completely unqualified Hollywood types.” It’s hosted by Anna, and her long-time friend Sim, and their charisma and camaraderie keep me cracking up like a crazy person every time that I listen. They somehow manage to even make ads funny. Each week they have a celebrity guest who they’ll interview, then play a few fun games with. My favorite is the dating deal-breakers. Finally, they have a guest caller or two who have relationship questions. This is where the unqualified advice comes in. As someone who has always dreamed of having a Dear Abby type column of my own, I love living vicariously through this podcast. I recommend starting with the Jack Johnson episode, #91, to get a feel for the tone of the podcast and learn a little bit about a really cool human, too.
Serial
For people who like true crime, alternate perspectives, and continuous story lines.
So… I haven’t actually listened to Serial, because I’m a wimp who can’t even watch Scary Movie without having nightmares. But, my fellow intern and podcast worship buddy, Helena, has! She zipped through season 1 in just a week, because that’s how addicting this podcast is. The first season was released during the fall of 2014, and unless you were living under a rock that year, you remember the social media buzz surrounding it. Each season unwraps a controversial legal case, giving the viewer multiple perspectives. The show is so popular that Saturday Night Live even has a skit satirizing it. Most people universally love season 1, and season 2 has mixed reviews, but still plenty of fans. The sheer amount of people who vouch for- nay, rave about- this podcast is reason enough to give it a listen.
The Secret to Success
For people who enjoy super levels of motivation, discussion about personal values, finance and business, and laughing at other people’s mishaps.
I am a sucker for all things motivational- quotes, books, videos, podcasts, you name it, I’ll divulge in it. Something about that feeling of having a fire lit under you, ready to tackle every single dream and ambition you’ve ever thought of reaching, is addicting. This podcast will light that fire for you, for sure, but it’s not just empty words and loud yelling. There’s depth to it, because there’s depth to the men who host it. High-energy co-hosts Eric Thomas and Carlas-Quinney Jr., and guests discuss all things personal development, entrepreneurship, family, relationships and values. They have found the balance between having high levels of success and still being a morally-driven, people-oriented person. Also, you can feel the love in the room between these people when you listen to them speak. Read through the episode descriptions and see what jumps out at you. Come for the motivation, stay for the laughs and the fun.
Happier With Gretchen Rubin
For people who enjoy situational advice, personality assessments, and… being happy.
This podcast is a breath of fresh air! Happier with Gretchen Rubin is hosted by, you guessed it, Gretchen Rubin, but also her sister, Elizabeth Craft. This podcast consists of one one-hour episode released weekly, and sporadic “littles,” which are 5-10 minutes of helpful advice. Listening to Gretchen and Elizabeth talk about their experiences and ideas is soothing. I haven’t listened to an episode of this podcast that I didn’t like, but recently I enjoyed episode #139. This episode explained “why it’s good to be full of desire but easy to please.” As someone with high standards (and who easily gets disappointed when they’re not upheld) for myself, others, situations, events, and everything in between, this message resonated with me deeply. Again, with this podcast, I’d suggest scrolling through the episodes and seeing if any of the issues they tackle jump out at you.
There you have it, folks. Kiss that stressful commute goodbye, and start enjoying the sweet, sweet sound of entertainment/crime/motivation/psychology-focused discussion!
We all get stressed out. It has become practically impossible to completely avoid stress in the fast-paced and success-driven world we live in. Although stress is seemingly inevitable, letting stress get you down most definitely is not. We’ve compiled some of the best ways to handle stress so you can be as positive and productive as possible.
If you’re not a meditation guru, that’s totally fine. There are a ton of apps out there that will guide you through meditating so that you can reap all of the benefits without having to be an expert. My personal favorite of the guided meditation apps is Headspace. Headspace takes you step by step on how to sit and relax without having thoughts race through your head. Meditating is an excellent way to slow down and decompress, all in the matter of a 10-minute session.
Let’s face it, your brain is stressed out and needs a break just as bad as you do. Give your brain a break by putting your body to work. A study by Mayo Clinic shows that the endorphins, your brain’s “feel-good neurotransmitters”, produced by exercising can directly contribute to reducing your stress levels and improving your mood. Whether it’s running on the treadmill or taking a walk around the block, get that blood pumping and watch your stress disappear.
There’s no better way to start feeling happy than doing the things you love. Distractions can sometimes be really good when you’re stressed out, as long as they contribute to calming you down and not to procrastinating whatever it is that is making you stressed. Whether it’s dancing, knitting, or watching your favorite movie, doing the things you love to do can take your mind off of whatever is stressing you out.
Taking a quick break can help you be more productive and help you chill out for the time being. Make yourself some coffee, read a book, call your mom, or do whatever it is that helps you take your mind off of things for a bit. A quick break from your stressors can help you come back relaxed, refreshed and ready to work.
If you can’t take a break from your work, make lists. Sometimes putting pen to paper and organizing your thoughts can help slow down all of the thoughts buzzing around your head. It also helps to know that you have a tangible list of the things you need to do so that you no longer have to worry about a task slipping your mind.
Believe it or not, smiling is proven to actually make you happier and less stressed. According to The Atlantic, researchers have found that forcing a smile can actually make you happier. The study showed that those who forced a smile through stressful activities had lower heart rates and lower stress levels than those who had neutral facial expressions. So put on a smile and get to work, and you’re guaranteed to feel those stress levels decrease.
Stress can be hard to deal with, but you don’t have to let it get the best of you. Try one or all of these stress management tips and start moving towards being your most productive and least stressed self!
We spend our day staring at screens. What? No we don’t.
But hold on, let’s just think about it for a minute. We wake up, get on our phones. We drive to work, using our GPS. We get to work, jump on the computer. We take a break, watch a video. We go home, watch TV.
We’ve all become addicted to screens and technology, but hey, that’s all well and good because technology makes our lives easier.
But what about the technology that doesn’t make our lives easier? The technology that disconnects us from the real world because we’re caught up in the digital world?
This phenomenon I’m talking about is social media. It’s no secret social media has slowly been taking over our lives. Sure, it connects us with one another with constant updates on each other’s lives. But, is that something we really need to be reminded of at every waking moment?
Check out 5 Reasons to Take a Break from Instagram to learn more about the dangers of this popular social media platform on our mental health, self esteem, and general happiness.
If you do want to make efforts to detox and unplug, here are 4 easy ways to wean yourself off social media for a while:
1. Turn off some notifications or put your phone on “do not disturb.” Notifications are the bane of real life person-to-person human connection. Turn off some of your silly notifications for when someone likes your Instagram photo or when someone is on Facebook Live. Or even go one step further and put your phone on “do not disturb” mode. It prevents your phone from lighting up when it’s locked, but will still receive notifications. They’ll be there waiting for you on your lock screen when you check your phone at your convenience. Your alarms and calls (if they call more than once) will still go through. Say goodbye to those annoying little interruptions and focus on the present.
2. Put your social media apps on a separate home page. Migrate some of your most used social media apps, like Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc., or apps you don’t want to use on a separate page on your phone. The less you see these little icons, the less inclined you are to open them. And you remember that every time you swipe to the social media page, you are actively making a conscious decision to go out of your way to get on these apps.
3. Download “Moment” or “Break Free” phone usage tracking apps. These apps track how many hours a day you’re using your phone and even send you notifications when you’ve been on your phone for too long. They even take into account you may be commuting or reading. You’d be shocked by how many hours you actually spend staring at your phone. “Moment” even tracks every time you “pick up” your phone and click your home button. I guarantee you it’s an alarming amount. And what’s better, these apps are free to download!
4. Find a different hobby. Redirect your energy and time to focus on something that will actually make you happy. Because, let’s face it, endlessly scrolling and refreshing does not make anyone feel anything but insecure. When you cut that useless time out of your life, you have so much freedom to pick up that book you’ve been meaning to read, journal for a little before bed, or get an extra hour of sleep.
So, you don’t have to. You don’t have to go on social media just because everyone else is on it.
You can’t really take a break from all technology, because, I mean, we’re still living in 2017. But here’s to making an effort to looking at one less screen. Here’s to disconnecting in order to start actually reconnecting.
BUT, the hiatus is currently harshing our GoT vibe and prolonging the White Walker’s march into the Long Night.
We have entered the waiting stage. We’re re-watching our favorite Game of Thrones episodes, picking up the books again, and drowning in endless Internet wormholes, almost becoming convinced by well-spoken theorists that Daenerys can time travel… before snapping back to reality and realizing we have work to do, families to provide for and lives to maintain.
Here is Radius Online’s Game of Thrones fix for the week.
We present: A day in the life of a Radius Online Employee, as told by Game of Thrones.
One thing we have all been taught since childhood is to try, try, and try again. Whenever we face a difficult obstacle, or if we discover something new, we “give it try.” Sure, this appears to be a solid mentality to have. However, in reality, it prevents success.
We need to start instigating into future generations, and ourselves, the idea of not trying, but doing. If we tackled everything we attempt with “I’m going to do” instead of “I’m going to try,” we would be amazed with how much success we could achieve.
Trying invokes hesitancy while doing commands commitment. This begins with emotionally attaching yourself to something.
Creating higher stakes and developing more confidence in yourself will automatically enhance your capability of actually doing and achieving, rather than trying and potentially succeeding. You will begin to start diving headfirst into everything you do and end up surprising yourself.
We live in a world where we must constantly being thinking about everything we say and do. The human brain cannot focus on more than one thing at a time, so by focusing attention on doing exactly what we set out to do makes it easier to achieve it. When “trying,” our brains focus on fear of failure, worry about what others think, and so forth. With everything going on inside our head, there is no way we can actually focus enough on the task at hand to succeed.
Allowing failure to be an option poses a critical danger in the trying mentality. It is okay to fail sometimes, because hopefully you learn from the experience, but if you ultimately cannot imagine yourself succeeding then you won’t. You need to actually visualize yourself doing, but with trying, failure is always there as an option.
The most damaging consequence of “trying” affects your brain. Trying brings an element of passivity, which ultimately prevents people from advancing in anything they attempt. Someone can “try” to have a healthy diet, but as soon as it becomes increasingly difficult and more complex, they give up. They’re one week in and all of a sudden get very busy with work or whatever else and decide they just need a quick dinner, so they go through a drive-thru.
Doing conveys action and with action you complete something. Trying leaves room for failure, which goes hand in hand with passivity. Passivity comes from not having high enough stakes and if stakes aren’t high, you probably aren’t confident in your own ability to succeed, ultimately resulting in failure.
The mentality of trying is a dangerous virus that has infiltrated western culture. Western civilization may have had the most success and advancement in the shortest amount of time, but many great western civilizations have declined quickly and will continue to do so.
Trying brings about “comfort and ever-increasing leisure. No dynamic people have ever survived these dangers.” (John Steinbeck) We must begin to “do” more and “try” less if we want to continue to be a great nation. As Yoda once said, “Do. Or do not. There is no try.”

We’ve all done it. Spent hours on Instagram mindlessly scrolling through your feed. Posted a picture and refreshed it endlessly to see the amount of likes you get. Compared yourself to attractive, successful people doing cooler things than you. Thought about a caption for way longer than you probably should have.
It’s an unrelenting, sometimes even dangerous, epidemic sweeping across Millennials today. We’re always on our phone. We can’t help it. Everyone’s on Instagram. We want to share our experiences, we want to connect with others, we want to feel liked.
And this is totally normal.
But the more we refresh, like, and post, the more we invest our happiness into something as fleeting and trivial as Instagram.
We contort our real lives into a highlight reel that showcases our most perfect, staged, beautiful moments. We show it off casually like it’s our everyday life, but in reality, they’re well-thought-out moments we’ve planned in our heads to satisfy this portrayal of a perfect person we want everyone to see.
That’s why taking a break from the most addicting social media app, Instagram, can do wonders for your mental health, self esteem, and overall happiness.
After all, the saying goes, “life is what happens between wifi signals.”
Here are 5 things that happen after you delete Instagram:
1. You stop comparing yourself. You stop being so hard on yourself, because you’re not constantly reminded of other people’s success, accomplishments, or fun things they’re doing. You’re focused on yourself and the totally worthy, everyday things you’re doing instead of someone else’s once-in-a-while cool moment.
2. You stop missing out on experiences while you’re on your phone. 38% of people have missed out on a life moment while busy looking on their phone (OnePoll, 2016). People spend so many dinners, dates, or night outs checking their phones. They spend so much time connecting with the people through their phones, they forget about the human connections right next to them.
3. You become more productive, especially in the mornings. You don’t lie in bed for 10 minutes after your alarm goes off checking your Instagram until you reach the last familiar post, which is usually “7 hours ago.” The start of the day is so important. It sets the tone for how the rest of your day is going to go. Without Instagram, you don’t start your morning comparing yourself to people and everything you missed while you were asleep.
4. You are where your feet are. You start being more present. You look around more. You see how rich the colors of the sunset actually is, because you’re not looking at it through a camera. You do more things that make you forget to check your phone. AND you don’t feel the need to document it for validation that you are doing something cool. In fact, 41% of people choose vacation locations based on what would look good on social media (OnePoll, 2016). By disconnecting, you stop worrying about what pictures and captions to post, because you’re here and you’re alive and this moment is more precious than you think.
5. You stop caring about what people think about you. This one’s a hard one. And it doesn’t happen overnight. It happens over time, when you slowly start realizing you are much more important and valuable than a number or statistic on your social media account. The real you is so much better than the Instagram you.
As always, it’s easier said than done. Instagram is still such an incredible way to connect with the people around you (if you don’t let it influence you too much). But, if you ever feel like taking a break, I promise your future self will thank you. Check out 5 Ways You Can Disconnect to Reconnect for tips for weaning off social media.
I get by with a little help from my… organizational tools? I mean, it’s true. We’ve found the key to productivity is embracing helpful, useful organizational tools. Here are the RadiusOnline intern’s 4 favorite life hack tools. We guarantee they will help you almost as much as coffee can.
You’ve heard it before: “breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” And that’s because the way you start your day is so important. It says so much about how the rest of your day is going to unfold. That’s why you should start your day off with Momentum, a stunningly beautiful extension of Google Chrome.
Every time you open a new tab on Google Chrome, Momentum provides you with an incredible, inspiring photograph of somewhere around the world. Whether it’s Japan, Switzerland, Australia, or the U.S., it’ll always be beautiful and it’ll always take your breath away. The screen shows you the time, the weather, and a “good morning/afternoon/evening, your name,” depending on the time of day. It also asks you, “What is your main focus for today?” where you can write a main objective, along with a to-do list on the side, that either rolls over to the next day or congratulates you when you finish. However, my favorite part of the extension is the quote they provide at the very bottom. It’s usually motivational, inspiring, scarily true, or all three. It’s made me stop to think a few times and even jot it down for later. And best of all, Momentum is free to download!
If you read my previous blog post, you know organization is of utmost importance to me. Living in this time period is a blessing for those of us obsessed with tracking, planning and making note of every little “to-do.” With tools like Google Calendar, Notes on Apple products, and Google Drive, all of the information we need to get through our work days is constantly at the tip of our fingers and can be accessed within seconds.
Sometimes the abundance of options to keep ourselves organized can be overwhelming. I’m notorious for getting into the habit of using too many organizational tools. One person doesn’t need a comprehensive planner, a Google calendar, a hanging paper calendar, AND a Notes/Reminder app full of things to get done. When I find myself trying to become TOO organized, my productivity halts. It’s the ultimate planner and perfectionist dilemma- we think, think, think, and plan, plan, plan, but never feel like the plan is ready or perfect enough to START. This conundrum can be discouraging at best and completely stagnating at worst.
So, after finishing a hectic last semester of college, I realized it was time to simplify my organizational methods. When you have to write “fill in planner” on your to-do list, something needs to change. I purged. I threw away my planner and deleted apps off of my phone. A huge relief was instantly lifted from my shoulders.
Okay, now here’s my ACTUAL tip: instead of trying to juggle your life across multiple digital platforms, use one or two, then carry around a simple pen and notebook. You’re never going to find an app that encompasses everything you want it to do when planning your schedule. A personal notebook has all of the flexibility in the world! Now, I’ve let go of needing to have every little detail obsessively organized, and it has been well worth the peace of mind I have gained in return. Use your notebook for anything and everything: to-do lists, inspirational quotes, important note taking in meetings, life experiences you’ll want to remember. And if we ever fear a Y2K 2.0, we’ll always have our handy dandy written notes to refer back to!
It may be old fashioned, but my #1 organizational tool is my planner. I use Google Calendar and the calendar app on my phone too, but my A1 since Day 1 has always been my planner. For me personally, the best way for me to stay organized is to get all of my thoughts on paper and then start to sort them into things to do today, tomorrow, next week, etc.
I have the nasty habit of forgetting everything as soon as it crosses my mind, so I’ve learned to write everything down as soon as I think of it. On a daily basis, I use my planner to plan out my schedule and make lists of things I have to do each day. On more of a long-term basis, I switch between the weekly and monthly view on my planner to keep track of when I have assignments due or tests scheduled. The weekly calendar tells me what I have to do on a day by day basis and the monthly view gives me a heads up for when I’m going to have a particularly busy week.
Maybe it’s just me being neurotic, but I swear by writing everything down and keeping an organized calendar. Try implementing some of these planner pointers into your daily life and see if it works for you!
I’m usually a pen and paper type of guy. I like to make lists to keep track of what I need to do. I use a lot of post it notes as well. However, I recently learned about some new tools that help with company-wide organization and planning. They also come in handy when I’m creating lists for video production here at RadiusOnline.
Trello allows me to make to-do-lists, track what I’ve completed, and even add notes and needs under each item. When preparing to shoot a video, I have my shot list, equipment needed, and my shot order. Trello has helped me to keep all of it in one place. I can allow people to join and view the lists as well as add their own content. It’s great for trying to organize and put together a big project. It keeps every department organized. I can have production making lists of what they need and constantly updating their status while post-production begins editing and updates the team on how the process is coming. It has become a big staple in my life and really helps me to keep everything organized and under control.
Slack is another cool tool that I use when I need to communicate quickly and effectively with any team at work. A lot of problems people face when working with many large groups is communication. Slack is a tool that allows you to organize groups and then send messages to each particular group to keep communication clear, concise, and steady. For once, it’s been nice to not have to constantly try to figure out who’s working where and who’s on what team. Slack tells me all of that and keeps track of everyone’s status. It’s also a fun tool for when you want to blow off steam with some of your co-workers, plan outside work stuff to do with your office friends, or just post hilarious random things you find on the internet.
Here you have it: these are the tools and methods the Radius Online intern team is using to keep things running smoothly in their personal and professional lives. Try adding the Momentum extension if you use Chrome to brighten your days, or incorporating Trello or Slack with your team at work. If you plan too much, let go a little bit and pick up a simple notebook. If you’re finding that your current schedule is getting the best of you, find a planner and start incorporating Grace’s tips into your life.
If you decide to try any of our organizational hacks, let us know what you think!
Starting a new job can be super exciting, but it can also be a little intimidating. How do I prove myself to my coworkers/bosses? How do I acclimate to the culture as quickly as possible? What if I don’t know how to do everything? All of these concerns are completely normal to have when beginning a new job. But starting a new position doesn’t have to be nerve wracking. We here at RadiusOnline have come up with 5 ways to help you shine during the first few weeks at your new job.
You will probably be going through some form of training when you first start working at your new job and taking notes can be helpful to your training for several reasons. Taking notes can help you better retain the information you’re receiving as well as serving as a guide later on if any part of your training slips your mind. Taking notes during training also shows the person training you that you care about what they have to say and helps you make a great first impression.
Someone once told me that your employer shouldn’t even know you have a cell phone for the first 90 days at a new job. Technology is a pivotal part of our everyday lives, but make sure that you try to stay off your phone while at work. The last thing you want is to be on your phone every time your boss walks by your desk. It helps to put your phone somewhere out of sight so you’re not tempted to use it and you can better focus on the tasks at hand. If you absolutely have to make a call or send a quick text just step outside the office to do so.
There is nothing worse than working with someone who has a horrible attitude. So don’t be that guy! Having a good attitude about work not only creates a better work environment for everyone but it will also make you happier about your job or just your day in general. Make sure that when at work you have a positive attitude, smile, and show those around you that you are happy and excited to be there.
A lot of people are worried about asking too many questions at their new job, but asking questions is actually a really great thing to do. Asking questions isn’t a sign that you’re unintelligent or not catching on quickly, but instead shows employers that you’re not afraid to put yourself out there to make sure things get done. By asking questions, you’re getting the answers you need to get your job done instead of wasting time trying to figure it out yourself. Remember- you’re brand new to this job. No one expects you to be perfect at it on day one.
You’ll be spending 40 hours a week with these people, so get to know them! Getting to know your coworkers gives you a group of people who can help show you the ropes around the office. You’ll also start forming relationships that could potentially help you in your professional life. And who knows, your work friends may become some of your best friends!
Starting a new job is an exciting opportunity to grow professionally and if you follow these five tips you’ll be on your way to having huge success at your new job. Congrats on your new position and best of luck!
I’d like to consider myself somewhat of a Master Goal Setter. This may be due to my type-A personality, overwhelming need to always have a plan, and perfectionist tendencies. I’m already thinking about the best ways to stay involved and social when I retire (I’m 23). It can be a lot.
I recognize that there are some of you out there living on the opposite side of the coin: taking life one day at a time, no thoughts or concerns about the future, perfectly happy living in the moment. You might actually have time to stop and smell the roses. On second thought, maybe you should be writing a self-help article for me?
Realistically, we should all be striving to live somewhere in the middle of this metaphorical coin. And while I’m always trying to learn how to better live in the moment and become more balanced, I’m proud of the things I’ve accomplished in life thus far, and I truly believe that with the right plan and work ethic, anyone can achieve anything that they want.
There’s a big step that comes before crafting the master plan. Setting the GOAL. Here’s a few concrete ways I like to incorporate goal-setting and accountability into my everyday life. I hope you find something here that you can easily incorporate into your daily routine.
1. CONSTANT VISION
For your goals to stay in your focus, they need to be written somewhere you will see them everyday. My favorite thing to use to keep my goals all up in my face is the Stickies application (this is available on Macs, an alternative is 7 Sticky Notes for Windows).
Stickies are basically editable post-it notes for your desktop; they stay “stickied” on your home screen. You can customize color, font and transparency to your preference. On the right-hand corner of my screen, I always have a comprehensive list of ALL of my goals, big or small. They’re broken down into multiple categories such as Educational, Professional, Health, Financial, Relationships, etc. This list encompasses goals of all sizes and timelines, from owning a home on the water one day to finding a fall internship. (Woo!) Any time I think of something I’m passionate about accomplishing in any area of my life, I add it to the list.
I also have a sticky for my big, overarching to-do list. This breaks my to-do’s down into sections for individual areas of life or projects. I find this more manageable than one crazy, long, unspecific list. If I finish all of my to-do’s (that’s funny), I can look over at my goal sticky and think about what I can add to my to-do list that will take me closer to achieving the next goal.
One final important sticky of mine is my “You Are Incredible As You Are Now” note. Here, I list all of the things I currently am doing or things about myself that I am proud of as a reminder that I do “enough.” I stole this idea from one of my friends in the middle of a hectic, stressful college semester. It’s very easy for all of us to get down on ourselves and feel as if we haven’t accomplished enough yet. But all that matters is that you’re moving forward! I think everyone can benefit from having an uplifting reminder that they are already enough. Keeping these positive affirmations present will help your motivation levels in the best way.
Obviously, you don’t have to use Stickies for this. Actually, Apple has said they will not be updating the application or creating it for mobile devices, so there are probably better options out there! This is just the one that works for me. The important thing is having all of your goals written in one place that you see often.
2. MAKING IT A HABIT
My next favorite thing, which I use for achieving short-term goals, is my flat monthly calendar. This part could also be done in the month section of a planner or in a digital calendar.
Each month, I decide on a few tasks I want to aim to do every day. Choose these tasks based on something you want to achieve in the near future. I break them down into categories, and usually include a personal task, professional task and a health task. For example, last month I aimed to journal, apply for at least one job, and eat at least two servings of vegetables each day. If you have a project you’re trying to get off the ground running, make it your goal to work on it every day. For me, each category has a shape or symbol, like a triangle, star or squiggly line. Each day that I complete the task in the specific category, I draw a really small symbol on that day on my calendar. So, at the end of the month, I can count all of the tiny squiggly lines and see how many days I ate my vegetables!
This acts as a record to hold you accountable (you’ll feel bad if you only get 3/31 days) and show you the progress you’ve made. Again, it’s just as important to be proud the things you’ve already done as it is to keep doing them!
3. ENVISION IT
This one is a little more straight-forward and a tried and true method. Vision boards are super fun, and something for the more creative types who may not be crazy about all of my structured list-making methods.
However, here at Radius Online, the employees have added a fun twist to their vision board that I love. They add a sticker on top of their goal image when they accomplish it instead of removing it altogether to make room for the next thing. Did I mention yet how important it is to be reminded of what you’ve accomplished already? 🙂
4. ACHIEVE YOUR DREAMS BY TALKING TO PEOPLE
Finally, the best way to hold yourself accountable for your goals is to mention them to people. I’m not saying to tell your mom to call you every morning and yell at you until you go to the gym. Simply bring your passions and goals up in conversation when it’s appropriate. This serves a few purposes. First, it makes you interesting. People like people who like to do things. Second, it’s more embarrassing when you don’t do that 5K at Thanksgiving if you’ve told 10 people that you were striving to finish it. And lastly, you may meet someone who has a similar goal, inspire someone to take one on, or make someone think of you for an opportunity in the future relating to that goal. Basically, you could make an awesome connection.
Lastly, I’ll leave you with this: FEAR. I believe that this pesky four letter word is the sole thing holding many of us back from achieving our goals. There is a healthy place for fear in our lives. It keeps us from swimming in the ocean at dusk, sticking forks into electrical sockets and drinking milk if we’re lactose intolerant. However, there is no room for fear in the space where your dreams and ambitions lie.
The amateur novelist J.K. Rowling once said, “It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that might as well not lived at all. In which case, you’ve failed by default.” Base your self-worth not on your ability to succeed at everything, but at your willingness to try anything. If you get over the mental battle and learn to approach goal chasing with this mindset- one that embraces failure and recognizes it as a chance to learn- you are already on your way to achieving that big dream.
Happy goal chasing and fear facing!
It’s a new semester and there are four (or maybe three and a half?) new interns joining the RadiusOnline team! (Grace is a veteran.) We are so pumped to get started at this INCREDIBLE company, so we thought we’d share how our first week has been!
First thing I have to say, is that one day in, and I was already in love. Interning at RadiusOnline has been unlike any other internship I’ve ever had. I’ve experienced the big, international corporation side where no one knows your name and you get all the grunt work and you find yourself calling Apple Care because your boss’s mail app on her phone doesn’t work. And I’ve also experienced the intimate, start-up side where I am working out of the founder’s house as her only intern and am challenged everyday and have complete control over my work. Been there, done that.
RadiusOnline is completely different. I’ve never felt like more appreciated and valued like I’m “Helena” instead of just “the intern.” Here, I feel my inputs are important. My ideas are encouraged. That I am welcomed. I spent this week really getting to know everyone and settling in so I can hit the ground running next week.
I am so excited to see what’s in store for me at RadiusOnline. And I guess you can tell it’s going to be a fun internship when you spend your first day on the rooftop of a building watching the solar eclipse with the Atlanta skyline in the background.
When I left my final interview for this marketing intern position at RadiusOnline, I remember thinking, “I wish they’d just call and tell me RIGHT NOW whether or not I got it so I can either be the happiest person alive and celebrate endlessly or cry in bed for a day and move on.” A little dramatic, maybe, but after talking with LanNhi and Katherine, I was certain that there could not be a better internship out there for me. They were so easy to chat with, but everything they said had substance. As I learned more about the company, I realized it stood out to me so much because it’s full of passionate, intentional, hard-working and fun-loving people. As I was trekking through the days in this awkward, transitional (read: postgrad) time of life, I wanted nothing more than to learn from this crew whose values seemed to align so well with my own.
My first week will be coming to an end shortly, and let me just tell you, the aforementioned fairytale interview was not a facade! This place is AWESOME. On my first day, a coworker brought his dog to work (because that’s ALLOWED here), the entire team watched a solar eclipse from our building’s rooftop, and I bonded with my fellow interns over carrots and possibly the best hummus I’ve ever had. On a more serious/professional note, we’ve already been introduced to projects we’ll be working on, learned even more about the company’s amazing core values, and have been assigned meaningful tasks. I’m excited for a season full of learning! Stay tuned!
As I began my second semester interning at Radius, I was very quickly reminded why I loved my internship so much the first time around. Radius is comprised of some of the most genuine, hardworking, and kindest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, which is what makes this such a great place to work. There is a level of inclusivity here that I haven’t experienced in any of my other internships. I consistently feel as though I’m a contributing member of the team and not just an intern.
It’s amazing to see how much passion everyone has for everything they do here at Radius. You can tell that everyone is working towards something they care a whole lot about and not just showing up to get a paycheck. With every new project and new idea, the Radius team brings forward a level of enthusiasm and excitement that I didn’t know was possible in a work environment.
My first week back was absolutely AWESOME (as to be expected). I’ve loved getting to know my new fellow interns as well as reconnecting with all of my coworkers from last semester. I can’t wait to see what this semester at Radius has in store!
This week has been pretty exciting. I’m settling in here smoothly and I’m feeling a lot more comfortable around everyone. I’ve been working on my About Me Presentation and finding cool videos and effects to draw inspiration from for the videos we will be creating. Aside from the business, I’ve gotten to know a little bit about each person I’m working with. Everyone is so nice and very welcoming and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the semester has in store for me. I feel like this is a place where I can grow immensely and I am looking forward to it.
Outside of work, I take a Meisner style acting class on Thursday nights which has been awesome. I’m currently prepping myself mentally for the Game of Thrones finale. Also, I found a new burrito place called AgaVera on Huff Rd and it definitely has the best burrito I’ve ever had. It’s called the Burrito California and I swear it’s like a giant oval shaped piece of heaven drenched in melted cheese with beans, rice, guac, chicken, onions, and I’m actually getting worked up just talking about it. I’ve had four already this week. It’s fine.
From May 8th to August 18th, I got the opportunity to intern for an amazing company, Radius Online. From day one, I knew I was going to have quite the summer. I knew I would learn a lot but what I didn’t know on my first day was the lasting impression every person in the office would make on me.
Beginning my summer internship, I could honestly say I didn’t know too much about digital marketing. Radius Online fostered my growth and gave me all the resources I needed to gain knowledge in this field. I am so thankful for everyone who took the time to teach me valuable information and allow me to ask them any questions I had.
From a tour of the Chick-fil-a Headquarters, to the National Achievers Congress Convention featuring Tony Robbins and Pitbull (no big deal), to spending the day at Six Flags, I have had a summer filled with great memories, lessons, and laughs. The people I had the privilege to surround myself with this summer are some of the most passionate, dedicated, positive and caring people I have met. I will truly miss spending my days in the Jungle talking about the most random topics, group lunches every Friday, and everyone’s precious dogs they brought into the office. Radius Online has a company culture that is hard to find and I was so fortunate to be a part of this company, even for just three short months.
Next week, I start my Junior year at the University of South Carolina. As I go back into my normal routine at school, I will take everything I learned and experienced with me. I cannot wait to go back and tell people about my summer and the company that made it amazing. Radius Online and everyone I met will forever hold a special place in my heart. There is no doubt I will be back to visit (of course with Mackenzie- the other fabulous intern!!).
Peace out, ATL!

On May 8, 2017, I began my adventure into the world of Digital Marketing at Radius Online. I nervously approached the office at sharply 9 am that morning with a note pad in hand and a desire to learn. On my first day , I was introduced to the team I would be working with for the rest of the semester of my internship. Everyone was welcoming and made a point to make me feel included.
It’s crazy to think that was just 3 months ago and boy has this summer flown by! As I begin to pack to head back for my final semester at UGA, I am sad to leave this little family that has adopted me for the summer. This has truly been an incredible summer of learning and growing. I will miss Friday catered lunches (still dreaming of the churros Vu brought in) and office outings. I think my most memorable experience at Radius was getting to go to the NAC 2017 conference. Guest speakers included Sara Blakely, Tony Robbins, and many more inspirational business leaders. I specifically enjoyed Tony Robbins’ stand up. Going as a company, we could bond over what we took away from this conference and what to work towards. Pitbul also made a guest experience which I obviously was front row for!!!! I think I still have his songs stuck in my head. I am going to miss creating content for the website and getting to see my tweets/blogs published. But mostly I will miss the the awesome team I worked with. Radius Online has a great balance of fun and work.
As I approach my last days at Radius Online, I am thankful for the opportunity to learn and grow not just as a professional, but also as a person. This internship has made me more confident in a professional job scene. I cannot wait to see what is in store for this company and for me after my time here at Radius Online.
Well, I guess that’s a wrap! Until next time.
xoxo,
Mackenzie

It’s a great way to gain more exposure and experience while learning a lot!
Thanks for joining us – we are definitely looking forward to even more exciting things coming our way.
Cheers!
Carolyn:
What a super fast 3 months it’s been – y’all I can’t believe it’s time to say good-bye. I’ve loved sharing my blog posts with you; it’s been a blast. Of course I can go into the whole shpeel of how I’ve learned so much and awesome the people are here, but I won’t since I did that in a past post.
But, what I can tell you are the top 5 additional things that I have love(d) most as an Online Marketing Intern here (in no particular order):
-When LanNhi brought in cronuts and I literally just didn’t know what to do with myself. #shareornotshare #lemonorblueberry #cronutsforlife
-Winning our kickball games at the great Maddox park. Sarcasm intended with the park part. A lil sketchy.
-The kegerator.
-Blog writing / writing in general.
-Giphys on Slack.
I’ve enjoyed every moment and I’m truly grateful to all those at Radius that have not only welcomed me but taught me so much more about marketing, setting goals, and continuing to move onward and upward. Thank you!!!!!!
It’s been real. Catch ya later, folks!
Sully:
Today is the last official day of my RadiusOnline internship. This week has been kind of a big week as it is also my last week of college. I turned in my final group project yesterday, and I immediately felt all of the stress of the past semester float away. After I had turned in the project, I noticed that I was feeling especially adult-like, which is exciting and nerve-racking at the same time. Although things are changing very fast, I am very excited about the direction my life is heading.
I was very fortunate to receive a job offer from Vu a few weeks ago, so come the end of May, I will be an official full-time employee! I am excited to continue working on the PPC and SEO here at Radius, and I look forward to pushing my limits in digital marketing. There are some exciting things on the horizon for PPC, and it is going to be really awesome to see the results once we finish.
I have learned so much since the start of the internship in January, and I got to meet some awesome people along the way. I would like to give a shout out to Nancy for being awesome and answering all of my questions on a daily basis. Thank you to the entire Radius team, you all have been awesome. For any future Radius interns that may be reading this- I look forward to meeting you, and I hope your internship is as valuable of an experience as mine was.
The words you speak and the messages you convey can make the difference between losing a lead or closing a deal. You can either grab someone’s attention within seconds or lose them because you said the wrong thing. A big part of online marketing is writing content – creating email campaigns, blog posts, and essentially collaborating with the Sales team to increase interest and convert these leads to commit to your product / solution.
When your audience reads your message, it’s critical for them to realize that you make their success is priority as well. Here are a few ways to optimize your messages – keep these in mind as you market to your targeted customers:
Keep it simple and casual
That means talk as if you’re talking to a friend and keep it short. Long paragraphs and complex sentences can be overwhelming to read. This is a sure way to keep the reader from even reading the rest of your email.
Add value first
Make sure to keep it all about the customer – help them understand why what you have to offer is beneficial for them. When they can see that you’re on the same page with them, they’ll be more willing to trust you.
Create eye-catching subject lines
This is the initial text that will help get your foot through the door. Again, it’s important to keep these short, but don’t be afraid to get creative. I’ve seen many subject lines that really got me to open an email because it was relatable, funny, or had a play on words. Examples below!
-The Muse: We Like Being Used
-Movember: Growing a Moustache Can Change the World
-Groupon: There are no deals in this email
-Warby Parker: Pairs nicely with spreadsheets
-Uber: Since we can’t all win the lottery…
Personalize
Address them on a first-name basis, tell them a funny story or joke, mention something that puts you in their shoes. Relating to them on another level builds trust, and they’ll feel comforted that someone is on their side.
There you go! It takes some time to tweak but it’s worth it in the end to see that more people are catching on and engaging with your emails. Plenty of resources out there to check out, here’s a few other tips to consider.
As an intern who is also wrapping up my final semester of school, keeping up with daily must do’s has become a challenging task. Staying on top of school assignments, projects at work, and still being social (if/when time permits) can at times seem like a juggling act. Below are some tips that have helped me manage my time so I can stay on top of assignments and still have time on the weekends for fun.
Keep a Calendar
If you don’t already have one, create a Google calendar- like right now. This has been my most valuable tool for the last four years of my college life. Anything and everything goes into my Google calendar. Events are color coded so I can quickly see if I have any school assignments due, important meetings at work, or if there is a concert coming up that I don’t want to miss. If a particular event is really important, set up a reminder for it.
Make a Weekly To-do List
Making a weekly to-do list ensures that no assignment gets overlooked. Decide when you need to start working on an assignment so you aren’t working on it last minute. Weekly to-do lists are good for when I feel completely overwhelmed by everything I have to do in one week. Writing out everything I have to do in a daily format breaks down all of my seemingly impossible weekly tasks, and makes them seem more feasible. Typically I only have 2-3 assignments/tasks I have to focus on each day, which is easier to digest than constantly thinking about the 20+ things you must do by the end of the week.
Make Time for Mental Break
For me- having a mental break is vital when working on tasks that are mentally draining. I like to recharge by going to the park, exercising in the gym, grabbing coffee with a friend, or getting in a quick bike ride. Taking a mental break is good because when I do come back to my work, I feel great, and I can devote 100% of my energy towards the task at hand. Sometimes I get so busy I seemingly have no time for a mental break. In these situations, I find that by not taking a break the quality of my work suffers, and it takes me longer to complete tasks. Now I make sure to take a mental break when I need it no matter how little time I have. Just 10 minutes of meditation can make a notable difference in the quality of my work.
When things get crazy, just remember that you can get through it all. Sometimes you may need to isolate yourself in a study area like you are in Fort Knox, but hard work pays off. There is nothing more satisfying than crossing items off your to-do list and being free for the weekend.
Final Note: Don’t Get So Stressed That You Start Throwing Pizza On Roofs
…just don’t do it. Eventually you will have to get on a ladder to clean the mess you have made- not to mention the perfectly good pizza that will be spoiled in the process.
If you’re reading this, congratulations – you’re either done with school or one step closer to flipping that tassle over. It’s such a huge achievement, so be proud of yourself. A ton of opportunities are about to open up, and it’s super exciting. College life is awesome, but so is everything after it.
The transition takes some time to get used to, but it’s not that much different from how school life was. Some things have stayed the same, but other things have definitely changed. Welcome to the real world, champ – only bigger and better things to come!
It’s not always serious, and yes – sometimes you feel overwhelmed. But other times you’re just like HECK FREAKIN YEAH.
When your alarm clock goes off and you realize your weekend is over (nothing new here).
When you get your paycheck but still broke anyway.
When your parents decide to take you off their health insurance…
the family plan, and car insurance, etc. etc. CAN’T LET GO.
Basically, looking at all your bills.
When you go out for Happy Hour…all expenses paid.
When you finally have time to put your luggage or passport to good use.
When you give ramen a break and make a bomb dish…well sometimes.
When you make it to the gym on purpose.
When you still get student discounts because you look foreva young.
When you beat the rush of Atlanta traffic after leaving work.
So much to look forward to – there’s a lot more perks, y’all. ENJOY IT!!
Making a Google AdWords campaign can seem like a daunting task, especially if your industry offers many products or services. Below is a guide to help you make sense of it all when building your first AdWords campaign.
Know the structure-
Before reading any further, make sure you understand how AdWords is structured. Listed below is a picture detailing the process, but in a few words, an AdWords account has one or more campaigns. Within campaigns are ad groups which contain keywords and ads.
Work from the top down-
When building a new AdWords account, start working on campaigns first, and then work towards keywords and ads. The first decision you have to make is how will you structure your campaigns. Some accounts may have no need for multiple campaigns, which makes this step easy. Other accounts may need to have multiple campaigns for targeting different geographic regions, advertising different groups of products/services, or campaigns may be structured by budget. Decide how you are going to structure your campaigns, name them and then get ready to build ad groups.
Ad Groups-
Most of the time, it is best to divide ad groups into various products/services that your company offers. You will surprise yourself with how many ad groups can go in one campaign! Make sure that you cover all product/service offerings available in your industry that users may be searching for.
Keywords-
When building a keyword list, make sure to research your keywords in Google’s keyword planner, which is found within AdWords. The keyword planner will give you an idea of which keywords will work best for your strategy, and how much you should bid for them. Make sure you don’t glance over negative keywords- they can make (or break) your campaign.
Ads-
This is my personal favorite part of building an AdWords campaign. Before writing any ad copy, analyze your landing page(s). Are there any promotions, unique selling propositions, or anything else that makes you stand out from the competition? If so, make sure that they make it into your ad copy. In my experience, promos in the ad copy is a great way to get people to click your ad. When you write your ad copy, you need to ask yourself a few questions:
When you write your ad copy, you need to ask yourself a few questions:
1)Am I going to use branded keywords in the headline or description?
2)What is the user looking for? How can I engage with them?
3)Understand why your customers are searching. Are your customers shopping around on the web, looking for a local service, or are they ready to buy now?
4)What problem does our product/service solve? Sometimes it’s best to highlight the problem that users are looking to solve
After you have asked yourself these questions, it is time to start writing ad copy. Make sure that your ad’s message is relevant to the keywords found within the ad group. This ensures that your ad is relevant to search queries that show your ad. It is good to keep in mind that slight changes in an ad can result in drastically different performance in terms of click-through-rate- or even conversions. It is good to have a few different variations of an ad, so you can see how they both perform side-by-side. Ultimately, you will need to revisit your ads to tweak them to optimise the performance of your campaign.
And there you have it! follow these steps, and you are sure to be well on your way to making a successful ad campaign.
For those of you that haven’t had the experience of traveling to Asia yet, you should definitely make it over to Vietnam at some point. Not only does it serve as our additional office location with our other awesome team members, but it’s a super amazing country to explore. I haven’t been there for a long time, but from what I remember, so many things made the trip worthwhile. I’m that much more grateful of where I come from, what my family’s done for me, and the importance of not taking anything for granted. This is my PSA to go and thank your parents right now. We don’t do it enough.
Anyways, onto my other points. Once you have successfully booked your ticket(s) take some time to see or do the following:
Eat what the locals eat. And don’t try just the phở…try the weird stuff too. Sometimes, they’re more delicious than attractive.
According to Buzzfeed, these are must-haves…20 Vietnamese Foods You Need to Try Now
Visit a temple. Giant Buddhas are so cool to see up close. Just don’t go climbing on top of one like a mountain.
Check out a beach. Unlike most of the beaches here in the U.S., it’s so pretty to see these cool mountains out of the water. The beaches aren’t always crowded with tourists either so it’s nice to have some sand to yourself.
Ride that moto. Almost like the Italians and their Vespas, this is the way to go!
Explore them street markets. Again, more food but a ton of other goodies as well. Pick up a souvenir if you can. My parents did (they came back from their trip this week) – check out this piece of art below. My dad keeps saying it’s by Picasso, but I know that’s not right. #lovemydad #hiswordsnotmine
There’s a ton more to do! Once you experience it, you won’t regret it.
Landing your first internship can be an arduous task. When I was searching for my first internship, I often times felt as if I was on a conquest for the holy grail. Luckily there are some tips that can help you land an internship at a great company.
Polishing your Resume
Before you surf the classifieds, make sure that your resume reflects any skills that future employers may be interested in. If you don’t have any work experience in the industry that you are seeking a position in, this may be challenging. Take the time to think about what you can highlight about what your past work history that is worth mentioning. If you were hiring an intern for the position you are applying for, what skills would you look for?
Decide What You Are Searching For (and Stick To It)
Looking to work with a Fortune 500 company with a massive ad spend? Or perhaps something not so corporate better suits your preference. Whatever you are aiming for, write down the qualities of your ideal company to work for. Decide which qualities you are firm on and which ones are flexible. When you see a company is hiring, ask yourself, “Is this the company for me?” Not all internships are worth your time. Being selective about which companies you choose to apply to will save a lot of time and headache in the long run.
Navigating the Jungle
After you have decided what kind of company you would like to work for, create a list of specific companies that you think would be a good fit. A company’s Linkedin profile and social media can usually give you a good idea of what it is like to work there. Smaller companies will usually post all of their open positions on their site as well as a 3rd party site like indeed.com. If a company that you wish to work for is currently hiring, then awesome- send them your resume and cover letter (more on that later). If they aren’t hiring, still send them your resume and cover letter. Explain in your cover letter that you understand that they aren’t currently hiring, but you are interested in working for them, and make sure to mention what position you are interested in. Following this strategy will ensure that you find an internship that fits your needs.
Check Your Network
I know you are sick and tired of hearing about the importance of networking, but there is no quicker way to find employment than to network with people who are currently employed. Put a post on social media that you are looking for a job in a specific field. You never know who may work at a company that you are interested in.
The Cover Letter
This, in my opinion, is the most important part of the application process. If the listing says that cover letters are optional, I am here to tell you that they aren’t. A cover letter is your first initial impression with the hiring manager. Botch this and your resume won’t get a single glance. Your cover letter should do all of the following:
-Showcase your writing skills
-Convey why you are interested in both the position and the company
-Elaborate on some skills listed in your resume
-Show some personality
One last thing I would like to mention about your cover letter is to keep them short! I was taught in my business writing class that cover letters are 1000+ word documents that are to be signed in blood and sent by carrier pigeon. This is no longer the case. Ensure that your cover letter is concise. Once I shortened my cover letter from a full page of text to three short (2-3 sentence) paragraphs, I started to get a lot more inquiries from hirers.
Keeping Tabs
Make sure that you have a list of places you have applied to. I like to send a follow-up email if I haven’t heard back from a hiring rep after about two weeks. Many hiring reps are excited to see that you have initiative, and they may re-visit your resume and decide to call you even if they passed on your resume.
Set a Schedule
How many jobs are you going to apply to each week? When are you going to search for jobs, write cover letters, and send out applications? Understand that applying for an internship takes a lot of time. It may be necessary to cut back on your hours at your current job (if you have one) to allow enough time to send out applications.
Keep At It
I have talked with students that applied to 50+ companies before they ever got hired. If you feel burned out from looking for an internship, ask yourself if you can improve your resume or cover letter, or if you can be more flexible about what kind of company you are looking for. If you keep pushing, you will get the job you are looking for. If you are in need of a boost of inspiration, please click to watch the video featuring my personal life mentor, Bicycle Kid. Memories in ink. That’s basically what a photograph is. I started getting interested in photography when I saw these super cool cover shots for Vanity Fair by Annie Leibovitz, just like the one below. The idea of meeting and collaborating with different subjects is awesome, but ultimately creating relationships and listening to stories is what interests me most. In the last couple of years, the work of Brandon Stanton has caught my eye. Heard of him?
You’ve seen his work all over Facebook. He’s the creator of Humans of New York. I started following him in college and have been into his work ever since. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s also a UGA alum. He started off studying history in school, moved on to trade bonds in Chicago, and then left his job to start photographing. And then HONY came about. Now, he’s selling over a million books and telling the stories of thousands just through images and captions. He tells stories of the human condition, stories of happiness and sadness, and sometimes overall witty snippets of what goes on in life. These stories teach. They’re entirely relatable and represent the life of those that have struggled and those that have succeeded. But, it’s not always serious. You’ll find the occasional shots of silliness and weirdness too.
The reason why I wanted to put some spotlight on Brandon for this post is because of the work he does and how he does it. He just wants to tell stories and help shed light on some special people. This just goes to show you that following your passion goes a long way but so does taking the time to listen and learn. This is an important life skill to have and something important to remember when you’re interacting with those around you. So in other words, sometimes you gotta drop everything and listen because you’ll learn a lot more than you ever expected.
“You’re taking my picture!”
“Not sure that I’ve ever been so honored to introduce someone as I am right now. Gac Filipaj is a refugee from the former Yugoslavia. For the past twelve years, he has worked as a janitor for Columbia University. His job title is “heavy cleaner,” which includes emptying the trash and cleaning the toilets.
During this time, he has worked until 11pm every night during the week. After his shift concluded, he would start studying. This weekend, after twelve years of study, Gac graduated from Columbia University with a Classics degree. Rarely have so many qualities I admire been wrapped up in a single person.” -Brandon Stanton

If your weekdays are anything like mine, you spend far too much time sitting down in front of a computer. Now don’t get me wrong, computers allow us to achieve awesome things that would simply be impossible to do without them. However, spending 8+ hours a day looking at a screen at work, school, and home takes a toll on your mind and your body. Taking time to reconnect with nature can be just the cure you need after a long work week. Here are some benefits of going outside and leaving technology behind:
It’s a mental reset
When you go outside and truly leave all your worries all behind, you are giving your brain a much-needed rest. Daily routines of work, errands, and other obligations can sometimes require constant focus from sun-up to sun-down. Going outside is a great way to recharge all the mental energy spent doing attentive activities throughout the week.
Cloudland Canyon State Park, Lookout Mountain GA
Nature is a venue to enjoy life sans-technology
Going outside is a great place to disconnect with technology and reconnect with yourself. Try enjoying nature without a smartphone. Focus less on documenting the experience of going outside and instead focus on being present. Your followers can wait!
Being outside reduces stress
When you go outside, you can forget the daily stressors of city life. There is no hectic rush-hour traffic to navigate when you are hiking in the woods, just the smell of fresh air. Not having a time-sensitive agenda full of meetings and appointments allows you to forget about time, and just enjoy the day ahead.
Chattooga River Headwaters, Cashiers NC
If you don’t already have a routine of going outside and exploring, I urge you to try it out. Georgia has an abundance of outdoor recreation areas. Some of these areas are ITP, but other gems may require a full day to explore and a couple hours of driving. Whether you have a full weekend or just a few hours after work, outdoor recreation isn’t far away.
Great work. That’s awesome to hear, isn’t it? What I’ve noticed at RadiusOnline is that we celebrate achievements and accomplishments often. Employees are recognized for fantastic things that are happening in the office. Whether it’s honoring an employee with the MVP award for going above and beyond or throwing a baby shower to celebrate an incoming Radius baby, we celebrate often and have fun while doing it.
Showing gratitude and appreciation can be motivational and encourages us to work harder, set bigger goals, and keep improving. There are so many benefits to showing gratitude; it even contributes to our happiness. Take a look at this video, and try not to shed a tear or two.
Did you expect this? I never really thought about it, but it makes sense.
A couple of takeaways for me from this video are:
– However you choose to express gratitude (e.g. phone call vs. thank you note), it’s meaningful no matter what.
– I see this happen more often in job / careers, but I don’t do this nearly enough in my personal life with those significant to me.
It’s really simple. So simple that we should definitely take action to do it more in our lives. There’s nothing better than knowing that the work you do or milestones you achieve are appreciated and celebrated. Who are the real MVPs in your life? Go on – reach out to them. Celebrate them. I dare you.
Hey all – my name’s Carolyn, and I just started at RadiusOnline as their Online Marketing Intern a few weeks ago. Welcome to my very first blog post!
It’s been a few weeks, and I’ve already gotten the chance to work on a couple of projects. I can’t believe how quickly these weeks have gone by. Every day I learn something new, and it’s great having my team to help me out when I need it. Right now, I’m familiarizing myself with an email application called ToutApp and learning more about drip campaigns as well as different email marketing tactics. It’s amazing to see how quickly I became involved with the team. You jump right into the work. No worries about any coffee runs or printing stacks of papers.
Just to keep things light for this post, I want to drop a few notes on a few eye-catching moments that have made my intro to RadiusOnline that much more enjoyable.
The Music.
Wow! I’ve never worked in a professional environment where music is constantly playing in the background, and I definitely dig it. I believe the first song I heard when I walked into the office was by Celine Dion. Man, did those memories come flooding back. Other songs are played too, like my guilty pleasure called Justin Bieber. Don’t ask me what do you mean…that’s just the way it is. (Did you catch that…these are song titles by the Biebs and Celine.) I’m here all day, folks.
The Food.
Last week, we had cake. A lot of it. Due to job anniversaries and birthday celebrations, nothing delighted me more than to have multiple slices of dessert from Piece of Cake. The Carrot Cake was my favorite! And the week before, the intern lunch was at JCT Kitchen. The fried chicken sandwich was so, so good. Food is definitely a hot topic at the office and so are the bags of ramen in the kitchen.
The Office.
I’m talking about the show. I love getting to watch it on Friday’s with the team.
The Power Hour(s).
On The Jungle side. This happens every hour. Sometimes consistently, sometimes not. Lately, the ladies have been getting into planks, and I’m not talking about routines that just last for 30 seconds. This is like planks where you have to lift a leg, get on your side, get on your elbows, etc. All I can say is, I’d rather do this than have Jillian Michaels in my ear. Thanks ladies, for keeping me in shape!
That’s all for now. Thanks everyone for making my first few weeks fantastic!
Starting a new internship is kind of like going on a blind date. Both situations involve me juggling feelings of both nervousness and excitement. Lucky for me, the work environment at Radius is very welcoming and accepting. From day one I felt like part of the Radius community. I love the relaxed environment; the dress is casual, and the music is lively. Don’t let this fool you into believing that relaxed equals slow-paced. Everyone here is very driven and quick on their feet.
After my initial nervousness had resided, I dove into SEO head first! I started working on projects within my first few hours of being in the office, quickly learning as I was going along. Thankfully I came to work my first day with a notepad because I filled up pages writing about online directories, acquisition channels, and landing pages- which were all foreign to me. I left the office on my first day having learned more about SEO than I anticipated I would, and I was eager to learn more. Since my first day in the office, I have continued to learn more about SEO each day, which I believe is crucial for a successful internship.
During my time here, I have been doing a lot of learning-by-doing. Instead of merely talking about SEO, I have been diving deep into Google Analytics and Webmasters to solve problems. More than once have I found myself in a position where I was asked to do a challenging task, and my first thought was “I don’t know how to do that.” Initially, I was concerned about completing such tasks, but I quickly learned that I was capable of more than I gave myself credit for. I am excellent at using the internet as the great resource it is; and when that doesn’t avail, I have incredibly talented co-workers that I can always turn to.
My first month here has been awesome. (Free!) Friday lunches, impromptu talent shows, and good coffee are just some of the things I have experienced that make Radius more than just an office. RadiusOnline is an exceptional place, and I am looking forward to everything this internship has in store for me.
Dear Team and Anyone Else Who May Be Reading this,
So this blog marks the last post that Nick and I will be putting on this website as online marketing interns. These past few months have been crazy. Crazy good that is. I feel like I’ve learned so much and have been challenged in many different ways that have led me to develop myself into a better marketer, person, and creative problem-solver. In the end, I just want to say that I am extremely grateful to RadiusOnline for taking in someone who wasn’t familiar with marketing and training him to be able to speak intelligently about the subject. All this in a few months. This may be my last post, but it’s not the last time I’ll be inspired by RadiusOnline. Ever moving onward and upward.
I’ll never forget what I learned here and I will always take this as my first step into the business world. I owe a lot to this company and the people in it. You all saw something in Jae and I and you impressed us with open arms, and for that, I’ll alway be thankful
Cheers
Signing Off,
Jae and Nick
Fall 2015 Interns
In the Spring of 2012 RadiusOnline hired 8 new employees, but they weren’t just regular employees. Nicknamed the “A Team” they were the first round of interns to work for RadiusOnline, and boy did they set the bar high.
Since then Radius has had 17 interns and with Jae and I it makes 19, all this spreading across 5 semesters!
Some returned back to school to finish their degrees and even a few interns accepted full-time positions with RadiusOnline!
“In order to know where you’re going, you have to know where you’ve been”
— George Santayana
I know it’s cheesy, but I think in this case it fits. Our first project is to update the intern website and put some fresh content on it. While trying to come up with ideas Jae and I started thinking about the previous interns and we were only left with one question “Where are they now?”
Very laid back. I remember Sally and Lannhi asking me what my favorite website was.
Probably was also laid back and welcoming. I remember that at the time there were only one or two other interns so I got to know everyone pretty quickly.
I work for Accenture as a digital analyst (I’m in our digital practice thanks to Radius). I’m currently on a project that involves a Salesforce implementation. My first hands-on exposure to Salesforce was at Radius.
So so much, Radius helped me identify what I wanted to get out of my first experience out of school. It taught me the importance of working with great people, thinking outside of the box and speaking up when you have an idea/solution. I use these lessons every day and am already seeing how they set me apart.
The people at Radius are genuinely good people. The environment they create is so encouraging, and I grew more in my year at Radius than I had at any other job up until that point.
Was about 2 years ago, all I remember is that I sat with Sally and Swan
I was the very first Intern here! I started in the middle of October in 2013.
Currently, I work as a technology consultant CapGemini. I work with the project manager in the technology department
I learned that there are very different environments for offices (startup vs. corporate). I’m utlizing the skills I learned working with the Websocast app in my current work as a project manager at Cox.
The people, everyone was very friendly and welcoming!
I really appreciated the fact that they did the regular questions about my resume, and I really liked that they asked me ‘what’s your favorite website?” They wanted to find out more about how I spend my time on the internet.
I remember not wanting to ask to go get lunch, so I grabbed snacks and ate at my desk. I thought I had to be given permission to go get lunch. Everybody was so welcoming, nice, and down to earth. I felt like she could always be myself.
Application delivery associate at Chick Fil A. I’m taking a 6-month crash course into everything IT for Chick Fil A, and I’m working on the Chick Fil One App (mobile app).
This job taught me how to be curious and to constantly grow my knowledge and myself as a person outside of the job.
RadiusOnline threw me the most amazing 21st birthday party! It was a beach party with grass skirts and margarita machine with Just Dance. Vu had to take me out of the office to pick up his son while they prepared for my birthday party. It was awesome!
I liked the atmosphere and people a lot, felt very comfortable here.
The people were really awesome. I got to work closely with Vu (CEO) even though I was an intern.
Marketing and Consumer Relationships coordinator for Uncommon Schools (non-profit organization)
It was really good to get an experience of a startup culture and of different types of organizations
Personally, I loved the day we went to play basketball.
I remember being really encouraged with the work they had and how it lined up for my interests. Straight up asked for a job and got it.
I remember walking around, meeting everyone, and not realizing that I would be interacting with everyone on a daily basis
Database administrator for Boeing in Charleston, South Carolina
In a job the answers aren’t always sitting right in front of you, so I learned how to figure things out on his own, making a decision on my own, and then seeing if it’s right or wrong. If it’s wrong, it’s ok, but I learned to figure out why it was wrong and improvised from there.
I really just enjoyed the relationships formed in the office. The work was fairly fun, but the people, culture, and Friday lunches were most memorable. Co-workers caring for each other. Good life advice from Vu on how to market myself as a person
Met with LanNhi and Sally. They were excited to have a designer work on more marketing stuff
Got to a lot more and spend more time with the people here because I had already graduated
Designer at RadiusOnline
I expected more things to change per project, but there’s actually a lot more trust in my work from others than what I expected. I’ve learned to collaborate with people on ideas and own your work
I really liked working with the people. If you really want to do a project and try hard enough with an idea, the people will be willing to go for it and be really receptive
I started out with the idea of having a full-time job and LanNhi told me after the interview that Radius was looking to add another designer. I really liked the work environment and everyone made me feel so welcome!
Today we celebrate almost everything, birthdays, anniversaries, holidays and even national (Coffee, Face your fear, etc) days. It’s an important and fun part of our daily lives and sometimes there’s cake. With the end of the year coming up, I think it’s important to look over everything you’ve accomplished because let’s face it…..you’re awesome. Egos aside let’s start at the beginning and look at the history of celebrating.
As soon as Pharaohs were crowned they would be seen as gods. So the day they were crowned became more important than their actual birthday. Egyptologists believe that they would celebrate their “crowning day” rather than their birth into the world. The first recorded mention of a celebration was around 3,000 B.C.E.
This is the most important (and fun) part. We celebrate because we’ve accomplished something great. An athlete celebrates because they helped the team, fans celebrate because their team did something, someone in sales celebrates because they made a huge sale and a company celebrates this huge sale together. It’s a great big, fun chain of celebration.
We celebrate because we know that our accomplishments affect others around us. Don’t get me wrong, we also celebrate because we’ve accomplished something personally but doesn’t it feel better when you celebrate with your team, friends, family, and co-workers?
I have the honor of working with many driven individuals who are always striving to reach the next level in their careers. High achievers always seem to be “forward thinkers” that always strive to make themselves better. It lights the whole office and motivates people to be the best.
It’s not always so easy, some people see their goal as unreachable. There’s this theory that’s called “The Dangling Carrot Syndrom”, which happens to a lot of people with a goal in mind. Basically the person feels that whenever they reach for their goal, something or someone pulls the carrot away.
Don’t be played for a fool. You know your potential and you know that with hard work and determination that you’ll reach your goal. Don’t let anyone “dangle” a reward only to pull it away. You have your accomplishments and nobody can take that (carrot) away.
I want you to celebrate.
Celebrations come in every size. It might be a small arm pump or a full blown body celebration, but what celebrations really show is how you feel at that moment.
All accomplishments deserve a celebration, big or small.
The next time you make a sale, reach a goal or hit a whole number at the gas station (you know it’s satisfying) celebrate.
We deserve it. After all, we worked hard.
Cheers

“To be creative, then, is to look outside of the common connections and see what other memories you can stir up to draw out new ideas.”
— Tanner Christensen
You walk in through the door, toss your wallet onto a table, and then forget where you put it an hour later? You casually feel around for your wallet in all of the usual spots, but you can’t seem to find it. Panic and frustration start to creep in, and before you know it, you’re throwing couch cushions in the air. The dreaded question hits you: “what if I really lost it?” Just when you’re about to lose hope, you happen to casually walk near that table and find your wallet staring you in the face. Wide-eyed and with your chest puffed out, you give a sigh of deep relief. Your wallet has been found.
This is a typical case of short-term memory loss. We hate forgetting things, especially things that are important: directions, scheduled appointments, promises, the list goes on. But what if I told you that having a bad short-term memory could actually be a good thing? What if having bad short-term memory could help you be more creative?
Whenever you create something, no matter what, there are always guidelines. If you’re writing a story, there is a beginning, middle, and end. If you’re designing a website, there’s a header, body, and footer. Accordingly, these guidelines are formed from memory. Whenever you start a project, you being by brainstorming and remembering things that you’ve seen, heard, or learned that come to mind when you think about that specific topic. This memory guides your hand and allows you to not only organize your work, but it also helps your audience understand your work.
That being said, the content that fills these guidelines is completely in your control; this is where your creativity comes in. Write a comical story instead of a serious one, design a website that doesn’t use a standard horizontal menu bar, put a picture of a monkey on a white envelope. The less specific your guidelines are, the more space you can fill with unique ideas and thoughts. The less you remember— to an extent— the more creative you can be.
To put this in the context of my online marketing internship here at RadiusOnline, I think this idea of creativity of short-term memory can really be seen in the video project that I’m working on for CarCareCONNECT. If you clicked on the link, you’ll see that there are many videos that have already been made before. Now, when Nick and I started this project, we could’ve easily replicated these videos to a tee, however, I think over the course of the last few weeks, we’ve done our best work when we hugged less tightly to the rigid guidelines of previous work. Of course, we still had to keep in mind the brand identity and visuals, however, the content that we created was unique but also eclectic in many ways (pulling from many bits and pieces of our memory).
In the end, the lack of a rigid short-term memory can definitely offer opportunities for greater creativity, but it’s the courage to try something different that lets your work stand out and shine.

Okay before we start I have something for you. I believe music makes everything better, so please before we start…choose one of the following.
You ready?
You never truly appreciate the advice that’s given to you until you’ve gone through something where you’ve needed it. I’ve been thinking a lot recently about goals and motivation and I’m left with a thought that my grandmother gave me when I was young. She said, “Do something today that your future self with thank you for”. I know, I know it’s sounds like a lifetime movie, but nonetheless it’s been stuck in my head. I think about what my older self could possible regret about my youth. I want to try and figure out how to be the best that I can be. If you want the best for yourself you need to be the best.
Today I’m going to talk about 3 things. Motivation, Goals, and The Power of Our Time.
Motivation is an interesting concept. It’s interesting because all motivation is feelings. You listen to motivational speeches because they make you feel, feel like you can do anything you set your mind to. The real part of motivational, which is the hardest part, is action. Sure you can sit at your desk or look at your phone and listen to a speech but are really listening? What do you want out of life? What do you want out of yourself? Motivation is the spark that lights the fire, your fire. I can give you the most motivating speech in history, but it’s up to you to change your life. I can’t make you get off the couch, start that project or plan your travels for you. What I can do is make you feel.
If motivation is the fire then goals are the wood. You have to have something to keep you going forward. What are your goals? How are you going to reach them? What’s stopping you? I can ask all the questions in the world, but you have to answer them. You know that moment after you reach your goal? The feeling of triumph you get? You should feel that every day. Goals come in every size, you could have a goal to go for a walk once a day or a goal to reach a certain weight. After you reach that goal, no matter how big or small you’ll still have that need for more. That need to be better, that need to reach higher. Start small and work towards your goal because conquering 20 little goals on your way to 1 big goal feels a lot better than just accomplishing 1 big goal.
We are lucky enough to live in an age where everything is at our fingertips. The internet has changed the way we search for information. We have access to millions of website, pages and articles that can help us reach our goals. It’s a double edge sword. There are a lot of resources for us, but there is also a lot that can distract us.
We get it….that corgi is adorable….but when you need to accomplish a goal it’s time to get focused.
Want to learn a language? Duolingo.com
Want to get healthy? Health.com
Want to Travel? Travel Guide …..but hotels are so expensive…AirBNB….but that’s expensive…CouchSurfing.
Want to learn how to do something? wikiHow…..YouTube
The possibilities are endless.
There will always be an excuse not to do something. You need to be the one to say….today is the day. You might not reach your goal today, tomorrow or even this month, but you will reach it one day. When you do….you’ll look back at that first day and be thankful you started.
What if I fail?
Failing isn’t the worse thing in the world. Life is all about learning and if you fail, take it as a learning experience and grow.
I believe in you, but the real question is do you believe in yourself.
I want to thank you for taking the time to read this blog. I hope that I helped you realize something that you knew all along, that you can do it.
Cheers
Nick
Online Marketing Intern
Happy Friday Everyone!
Wherever you are, I hope that you are having an absolutely fantastic day! Anyway, for this week’s post, I wanted to share a glimpse of some of the fun things that have been going on at RadiusOnline over the past few weeks. Ever since I started my internship at RadiusOnline, one thing I noticed is that the people here work incredibly hard. No matter what circumstance, things will get done here. However, I’ve also come to learn that the people here also know how to eat and have a good time. As LanNhi would say, “we are very serious about our food and our fun.” Here’s what the past two Fridays at the office have looked like:
Of course, there is always work that needs to be done, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t have fun right? This office is filled with lively, creative, and open-minded people, which I believe is the secret to a successful work-fun balance.
I hope you guys enjoyed this short photo update of my RadiusOnline Online Marketing Intern experience. To read more about the work culture at RadiusOnline or my experience as an intern, check out the other blog posts or follow us on Instagram @radiusonline!
Okay now that I hooked you with my super-awesome title let me clarify some things.
I’m not telling you not to work
I take no responsibility if you choose to process this information by going on a 4-hour break
I will, however, take responsibility for the increase in productivity you see after reading this post.
Okay so I’m staring at my computer screen looking at this image and I’m overwhelmed. For those who don’t know this chrome add-on, it’s called Momentum and it’s basically a in-browser organizer. Anyway, back to me blankly staring at my screen. I’m looking at this page and I’m hit with this big question, “What is your main focus for today?” Geez computer that’s a loaded question. What is everyone’s main focus in their day to day lives? Is it your main focus to reach your goal (whatever that might be)? Be the best mom, dad, son, or daughter? If you’re Bobby you’re probably going to say “My main focus for today is the Mets” and to that I’d say go Cubs. All jokes aside, can you see how this is such a big question? Now let me go into how doing nothing is going to get you somewhere.
See I hooked you again with my awesome last line!!
Moving on, I know you don’t want to take a break right now.
Why? Because you’re too busy. This post is probably one of more than a few tabs you have open on your browser or phone. Well, I’m here to help.
Some of you might have heard of this but for those you haven’t the rule of 52 is a time management technique that has actually proven to boost productivity. This is also similar to the Pomodoro Technique, which I would recommend looking into as well.
The basics are that you work for 52 minutes and then take a 17-minute break.
The reason why people are able to get so much work done in that 52 minutes is because they treat that time like sprints. They make the most of that 52 minutes by working with intense purpose but take the time to rest for the next burst. The break is almost as important as the burst because let’s face it, the human brain wasn’t built to work for 8 hours at a time. Try and get away from your computer and maybe walk around and grab a healthy snack but if you must stay on the computer for some reason, watch some funny animal videos or catch up on your favorite sports team. Studies have proven that watching cute animal videos can lead to productivity.
Think of your concentration as a muscle: It needs to rest to be able to function, and it shouldn’t be overworked.
If 17 minutes every hour feels like too much (to you or your boss) consider just taking five or 10 minutes every hour and seeing what effect it has. The results could surprise you.
So I only have one question, What is your main focus today?
Cheers
Nick
Online Marketing Intern
This October 16th- 18th, HackATL will be holding a business hackathon for college students from all over the world. The startup hackathon is an event where developers, engineers, designers, and business people come together to create viable startup business ideas and pitch them to investors. Sounds great and all, but…what exactly is a hack?
noun | hack | \hāk\
1: a usually creative solution a computer hardware or programming problem or limitation
2: a clever solution to a tricky problem
The words “creative” and “clever” really hit the nail on the head when you consider the essence of a hack. And if there’s one thing that I learned during my time as an online marketing intern at RadiusOnline, it’s that creative and clever solutions are absolutely vital in today’s workplace. Here are 3 reasons why having a hacking mentality can improve your work experience and your workplace as a whole:
1. Keeps you sharp and focused
2. Fosters teamwork and idea-sharing
3. Provides invaluable risk experience
Think about it. When you’re challenged to think about out-of-the-box solutions for problems you encounter at work, are you more or less focused on the task at hand? This is the mentality behind a hack. The more you’re pushed to find new and improved solutions to existing problems, the more keen and sharp your mind will be while you work.
“If you really don’t know how to do something, you should . . . ask for help.” This rule applies to the workplace more than you would think. Of course, this doesn’t mean that you ask everyone in your office to spoon-feed you answers. But when you’re trying to find new ways to approach specific problems, bouncing your ideas off of others and working together to solve problems has a huge impact on your company. It increases the efficiency of your work, allows people to share their ideas freely, and creates a team bond that benefits the health of the entire company.
Believe it or not, whenever you create a hack, you’re taking a risk. From the perspective of a project manager, creating a hack is equivalent to doing something new. And if you’ve dealt with a large project before, you know that “new” can be a scary concept. It can have a positive impact, a negative impact, or no impact at all. However, risk-taking isn’t something to avoid because there’s a possibility of failure; you need to practice to develop into a skill. In the end, learning to take risks will stretch you outside of your comfort zone, build your confidence, and help you overcome the paralyzing fear of failure.
For more information about how you can use hacks to increase productivity, or how you can be a part of a company that embraces this kind of creative problem-solving, apply for an Online Marketing Internship at RadiusOnline by clicking here.

“It is necessary … for a man to go away by himself … to sit on a rock … and ask, ‘Who am I, where have I been, and where am I going?”
— Carl Sandburg
Okay, Carl so I don’t go and sit on a rock, but I do think it’s important to look back every once and a while and reflect on the past. George Santayana once said that “Those who are unaware of history are destined to repeat it” and sure, he was probably talking about world history but the point is that the past can teach us about the future. I’ve been so busy that I almost forgot that today is my 1 month anniversary here at RadiusOnline. So join me on my “Virtual Rock” as I look back and reflect on my first month at RadiusOnline as an online marketing intern.
(Okay so I’m not in that meeting but I needed a picture for it….so just pretend)
Okay, so I almost lost this whole post when the power went out. Thank you WordPress for auto-saving my post, I take back all the bad things I said about you.
Anyway, Jae and I have been doing phone interviews with previous interns and I’ve noticed one key similarity between all of them. When asked the question “What was your favorite part of interning at RadiusOnine?” they all answered the same thing, the people. You can’t enjoy your work if you don’t enjoy the people you work with, so I want to take the time and thank everyone for being so kind and welcoming! It takes awesome people to do awesome things and I can’t wait to experience another month here.

you’ll end up someplace else.”

Cheers!
Nick
Jae and I have a lot of things in common, but our main similarity is our love for food. We are fortunate to work for a company that caters lunch every Friday and we thought we would share our food findings with you. So without further ado…..Welcome to “What’s For Lunch” Episode 1: Heirloom Market BBQ
Heirloom Market BBQ is a Fusion BBQ restaurant in Atlanta that blends classic BBQ with a Korean touch. Known for its “Kordova” sandwich, which adds spicy kimchi to a classic BBQ sammy.
Nick’s Pick: Beef Rib Sandwich
Price: $10
Beef Brisket with Pork Ribs and Kimchi slaw in between a savory buttered potato bun. Mac and Cheese on the side with pork baked beans=WIN. When you add pork bits into the beans it makes for a tasty combination. Mac and cheese is never not good…..yup that pretty much sums up the mac and cheese. As you can probably tell it was a little messy but definitely a great sandwich. My favorite part of the dish would totally be the beef brisket. Some brisket can get really dry and chewy, but this kind had a nice soft touch and wasn’t dry at all. Mix it with the spicy Korean BBQ and you got yourself one tasty combo. The kimchi brought the whole sandwich together by adding a little heat. I’m new to kimchi, but it complemented the sandwich by balancing the smoky meat and spicy slaw.
Final Thoughts: Definitely a good twist on a classic sandwich but not as good as some of the other BBQ we’ve had (I’m looking at you Bone Lick).
Overall Score: 3.5/5.0
Jae’s Pick: The Kordova Sandwich
Price: $10
A good ole American pulled pork sandwich topped with lettuce, pickles, and…. Kimchi?! What in the world is going on? As a 2nd generation Korean-American (of Korean descent, but born in America), I can definitely say that this was an interesting mix; my two worlds put together in a sandwich. The pulled pork wasn’t dry, which you’ll sometimes find with pork that has been left out for a while or just overcooked, so that was a major plus for me. The kimchi was a radish type of kimchi—not my favorite kind—that had a sweet, pickled flavor, which helped bring out the sweetness of the pulled pork. On top of that, the sandwich included 3 pieces of fermented cucumbers that helped cleanse the palate after scarfing down this mess of a sandwich.
Final Thoughts: It was a flavor blast in my mouth, but I wish they would’ve used a different kind of kimchi (Baechu kimchi) and added a bit of butter to the buns.
Overall Score: 4.0/5.0
A BIG thank you to RadiusOnline for catering lunch on Fridays and making this blog possible. See you guys next week for Episode 2!

Sincerely,
Nick and Jae
Online Marketing Interns
Anyway, for today’s post I thought I’d write about something that’s commonly talked about on college campuses everywhere: internships. And no, I’m not talking about the 2013 film starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. I’m talking about the positions that college students oftentimes apply for in order to gain exposure to a career field of interest.
When you think of the word “internship,” what comes to mind? Maybe you think about coffee runs and grunt work. Or maybe you think about great networking opportunities. If I had to sum up my experience so far as a RadiusOnline online marketing intern into one sentence, I would say something along the lines of: “Doing work that matters and Learning a ton along the way.”
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn”
-Benjamin Franklin
Here’s some of the stuff that Nick and I have been up to:
CarCareCONNECT Email Drip Campaign
This project included researching, planning and creating content for a drip campaign for one of our web development branches: CareCareCONNECT. Not only did we get to learn how to do all these things, but I think the best part about all of this is that our campaign has the ability to really impact the company’s monthly recurring revenue (MRR) and sales overall. MQLs!
Blogging
Every week, Nick and I are scheduled to write blog posts for the eDentalImage and CarCareCONNECT websites. Beginning with brainstorming, we get to create content that is relevant, helpful, and insightful to the website visitors. By doing all of this, we’re helping increase web traffic to our websites and increasing the google rankings and authority of our websites.
Intern Website
One thing I’ve been trying to do is customize and edit some of the design elements on this website (the one you’re reading this off of). I haven’t made any changes yet, but in the process of trying to do this, I started learning more and more about HTML and CSS. This got interested in computer science in general so now I’m trying to learn code on the side as well. Who knew this would happen? haha
Whether you’re interning at RadiusOnline or anywhere else, I guarantee that if you have the opportunity to get involved in real work and have an open mind you’ll learn so much more than if you hadn’t. As RadiusOnline interns, Nick and I get to be a part of projects that impact the company and learn from people who are spectacular at what they do.
UPDATE: Be on the lookout for our new food blog series: “What’s For Lunch?” First post will be on Monday!!

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
– Steve Jobs
When I tell people that I’m an Online Marketing Intern at RadiusOnline, most of them respond: “Why marketing?” And don’t get me wrong, it’s not because marketing is a bad field to work in or anything. In fact, it’s an awesome field! So why do so many people ask me this then? Well, it probably has something to do with the fact that I just graduated with a Bachelors Degree in chemistry. To be honest, I know it sounds crazy, but I promise that if you’ll just follow along I’ll show you that transitioning from chemistry to marketing isn’t that absurd.
Looking back on my four years of studying chemistry, I think there are 3 major things I learned that I have been able to apply during my time here at RadiusOnline:
1. Creative Passion
2. Scientific Method
3. Data Analysis
Chemistry– In Organic Chemistry, you’ll find that there isn’t a strict one-way to do anything. Often times a typical situation consists of a problem to solve, a tool box, and a plethora of blank space. As long as you use the tool box and arrive at an acceptable answer, you can build whatever kind of mechanism or synthesis that you want.
Marketing– In the same way, a big part of marketing is being able to grab a lead’s attention in a unique way, and this really requires a creative approach. Currently, Nick and I are working on an E-mail Drip Campaign for CarCareCONNECT, and one of the coolest things about this project is that we were given the creative freedom to organize, structure, and implement this campaign.
Chemistry– When you look at any scientific research article, you’ll see that it’s always structured in the same exact way: Observation, Hypothesis, Experiment, Analysis/Results, Conclusion.
Marketing– When you look at the way market trend research or A/B testing is done, you’ll see that the same type of experimental procedure is conducted throughout the process. For our Drip Campaign, Nick and I spent a good portion of this week observing a large number of emails and creating a list of attributes that we thought were not only eye-catching but also relevant to our target audience: auto shop owners. According to this method, our next step would then be to narrow down a list of email attributes from our research that we believe would work for this specific campaign.
Chemistry– What kind of science would exist if there were no data analysis to back it up? Every scientific discovery and experiment always include a section for results analysis because this is the only way to support your hypothesis with hard metrics and numbers.
Marketing– A big portion of digital marketing is Search Engine Optimization, aka SEO, which provides a lot of these same metrics to the marketing that is done. (Note: Click here to learn more about SEO). One thing that our SEO team at RadiusOnline does is provide our clients with web traffic analytics reports for their business website. However, in order to show our clients how their websites are performing, the SEO team needs to review large amounts of data, choose what is relevant, make conclusions based on this data, and present it in a way that is easily understandable.
In the end, I found that what I loved wasn’t necessarily chemistry, but the process of innovation and discovery that fueled it. By transitioning from chemistry to marketing, I get to work in a field that not only provides me with different creative avenues but also capitalizes on many of the skills that I have started to learn from studying chemistry. And I am so excited to be starting this internship with RadiusOnline because over here the sky’s not the limit; we’re always aiming “ever onward and upward.”

“That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind,”- Neil Armstrong
On July 20th, 1969 the world witnessed history as Apollo 11 landed and men took their first steps on the moon. After that date, NASA has had 6 other Apollo missions, with 5 of them making it to the moon. The Apollo space program started in the early 60’s and it took them 9 years to finally put a man on the moon. It’s safe to say that a lot more planning goes into the program than what we see on TV. After my first few days as a RadiusOnline online marketing intern, I’m left thinking the same thought.
Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.
-Harriet Tubman
In day to day life, most people don’t pay attention to the thousands of ad’s they’re subjected to. Even if you do pay attention to some of them you might not realize how much work goes into creating those short ads. Here at Radius Online a lot of very talented people put in long hours to make sure their clients get the best service available. A company that’s mission is to “Be Awesome and Do Awesome Things”. At RadiusOnline, we work to make sure that we do our best so that our clients get the best. A lot more work goes into every campaign than what the client sees, but that doesn’t make our job any less important.
Nothing is accomplished alone, and just like a NASA program we consistently work together to meet our goal. Even as interns we aren’t running and grabbing the coffee or making lunch runs. We are getting the chance to learn and work on projects that make a difference. After all the hard work that goes on around here employees at RadiusOnline always take the time to look back on what they’ve accomplished and learn from it.
Vu Hoang our “Space Flight Leader”, inspires us each and every day to reach for the stars. He teaches us that we are “ever moving onward and upward” and should never stop learning. I know I’m going to love my time at RadiusOnline because I get the chance to work on projects that matter and learn from the best. Thanks for everyone for being so friendly and welcoming! I’ll sign off for now but look for me and Jae to do great things here.
Sincerely,
Nick Jae
Each class of interns at RadiusOnline completes an intern project that is entirely their own. A few years ago, the intern team thought it would be a good idea to start an intern blog. The purpose of the blog was for the interns to share their experience of working at RadiusOnline in a nutshell. The blog was a huge success, but over the few years of its existence the design became outdated. With a huge help from our design intern Andy, we decided to re-brand the intern blog and totally give it a new look.
Improvements to the blog include:
1. New team: In the past, each new team of interns came up with their own group name. “The A Team” and “Duo Don’t” are some examples just to name a few. Our team name is RadiusRockets, which we used as inspiration for the new web design. To keep branding consistent with the new website, it was decided that “RadiusRockets” would be the new name for the internship program as a whole.
2. New logo: With rebranding came a new logo. By creating a logo for the RadiusRockets, our hope was to establish the intern blog as its own creation while using the colors to tie back into the RadiusOnline theme. After many group brainstorming sessions, our awesome graphic design intern Andy created this logo. It represents the blog and the internship program as a whole. Here it is:
3. New design: Just like our team name, the new website design was inspired by an astronomical theme. Andy used a mix of outer-space photos and the RadiusOnline green to promote our fast-paced work ethic along with our out-of-the-box way of thinking. The design is sleek, simple, and easy to navigate.
4. New content: Since the blog is mainly used as a resource for recruitment, we created a “Join Us” page. On the page you’ll find a little more information about what we do at RadiusOnline, a video of what our internship looks like, and a link to current internship applications.
We hope you enjoy it! Check it out, learn more about us, and apply today!
I still remember the first time I came to the office for my job interview and I thought to myself, ‘this place is so dope’. Ever since I love coming to the office everyday and take on the challenges of that day. The office environment at RO isn’t conventional at all. We have, what you might consider, a fresh workplace.
The first thing you’ll notice when you enter the office is the amazing chill music being played all the time. FYI – It’s a tradition to play Friday by Rebecca Black on Fridays. So don’t be a hater and cherish that melodic piece of art with us *slowly choking myself *. Occasionally, we do turn it up a little on days when we need that little extra boost.
Few minutes in, I sometimes go to our amazing kitchen filled with FREE FOOD. You’ll always find something to snack on. Personally, I recommend a Panini sandwich with some ranch on the side. And if that isn’t your thing we always have a jar full of chocolates in the area commons (it’s like a mini willy wonka factory in here)
We also have card games, Xbox, oculus rift, and a few nerf guns lying around if you get bored (keeping it casual you know). My personal favorites are the pull up bar and shake weight. Just some of the perks of being a online marketing intern.
Finally, all this together results in a positive work environment because most of us spend a huge proportion of our lives at work, so naturally it is important that we have a good environment to work in. Interpersonal communication, team spirit, and the physical environment are well established at RO and all connected to each other. This lets me make new friends, find happiness, and allow the best version of myself to shine and contribute to an already successful firm.
So I WELCOME y’all to our amazing office and hope you like it and love it as much as I do.
Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world. ~ Joel Barker
In Kevin Johnson’s book, “The Entrepreneur Mind,” a key point that he makes is for a business owner to work ON the company and not IN the company. The point is that the owner/CEO has the priority of guiding the direction of the company and is severely hampered when working within the company. An owner has a vision for the business and this vision is diffused throughout the company through culture, processes, and managing expectations. However, the vision is absorbed by the company through understanding its purpose, why the company exists and adopting the same belief. The owner is responsible for influencing the company in a way that inspires its members to not just follow orders, but to seek the same vision.
If the highest aim of a captain were to preserve his ship, he would keep it in port forever. ~ St. Thomas Aquinas
On a ship there is the captain and the helmsman. The helmsman steers the direction of the vessel. His job is to maintain a given course, but not to decide what course to take. However, through his knowledge and experience, even when the captain is below deck the ship stays true to its course because he has accepted the direction the captain has given. The owner is the company’s captain and when the owner provides the influence, inspiration, and guidance there is no hesitation about achieving the vision or reaching a desired port because the crew knows what direction to take as they have adopted the same vision as their captain.
RadiusOnline is such a company whose members have truly adopted the vision that owner, Vu Hoang, has inspired them to not simply believe in, but to seek with him. Even in his absence each member of the RadiusOnline team is intrinsically motivated, no, intrinsically inspired to strive for the vision they believe. At RadiusOnline online marketing interns are ever moving onward and upward.

It’s Friday again and it’s time for “Friday Fantastic Free Food”. Free food is delivered to RadiusOnline every Friday. At RadiusOnline you can’t (literally) stay hungry. Hungry? You can always find something to eat or something to snack on. Food is not a problem. With that said, today’s topic for my blog post could be…? Yes, you’re right. It is NOT about food!
It’s about staying hungry & foolish.
“Stay hungry. Stay foolish.” — Steve Jobs
There are company cultures that foster corporate management style. And there are cultures that foster casualty and peer-learning. And RadiusOnline is one culture like that. At RadiusOnline people are encouraged to learn and to share. Never satisfied with what you know, push yourself to learn more, do more. We embrace sharing and continuous learning among awesome people. It is now relevant to emphasize the importance of knowledge.
Knowledge is unlimited
Knowledge is like fish in the ocean. What I know is just a few in those fish. You can always catch one and “eat” it to please your hunger for knowledge.
“I have never let my schooling interfere with my education.” – Mark Twain
Knowledge is valuable
It may sound irrelevant to learn how many teeth a shark has. But someday that piece of information might help you in a job interview with Google or it could be an answer to your kid’s question. Therefore, it is always good to know something. Does anybody know how many eyes spiders usually have?
“An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.” — Benjamin Franklin
Knowledge is for sharing
Knowledge has less meaning when you keep it for yourself. You learn from what you share. It is not a good idea to learn without practicing, either. Sharing what you know with other is how to practice it.
“Be a student and a teacher” — RadiusOnline Core Value
Knowledge is the key to embrace your competitive advantage, whoever you are, wherever you come from. Knowledge can bring you together to do awesome things. You can always learn something from other people around you; and you can always find something that you don’t know to learn from people who know. Learn as if you are a fool. Try new things. Try things that other people don’t do. Everything you have to do is ask.

Online Marketing Intern
Yesterday afternoon, the whole office came together to listen to each department give a presentation on what they did from January to June of this year. As a new intern, it was really fascinating to see how much RadiusOnline has grown in such a short amount of time. I couldn’t believe all of the projects that everyone works on that I had never even heard of. This quarter it seemed like everyone was able to increase their work load all while completing their tasks more efficiently, which was really cool for me to see.
Since the online marketing interns couldn’t exactly give a mid-year presentation given our short amount of time here, here’s my “mid-internship” update:
So far, I couldn’t be happier with my experience here. In fact, the worst part is just my drive through Atlanta traffic. I think I like it so much because I am able to work on projects that actually matter. My blog posts have lead to higher traffic on our websites, and my e-mail campaigns are leading to more prospects and conversions. It’s really cool to actually see how my work impacts the company as a whole. I’ve also learned a whole new skill set that I’ll be able to take with me after my internship is over. From Pardot to Trello, it is super helpful being able to use online platforms that I’d never even heard of to make my work easier and more organized.
I love being a part of an organization that is growing as quickly as we are. It’s exciting to look around the office and see everyone’s hard work paying off with statistics like a 49% traffic increase and a 19% increase in new customers. Everyone is always working as hard as they can, and I love being able to contribute. My six weeks of interning here have flown by, and I can’t wait to see what’s ahead!
I have had decent food and I have had good food, but I have rarely had better FREE food. One of the perks of working at Radius is that we get free food every Friday. I have lived in Atlanta for almost three years now, but I didn’t even know that these amazing places existed ’till now.
Honestly, I can’t say enough about the quality and range of food I was able to try here. So I am going to make you a list of my favorites. Hope it helps you choose the right dish when you become part of the team.
Star Provisions – The Shrimp Po Boy. While the prices are steeper than what I’d like to pay, the sandwiches are made with quality ingredients. Now I didn’t order the shrimp po boy, but Vu (aka BOSS) did and omg it’s heavenly. Don’t make the same mistake I did and order whatever he tells you to.
Panbury’s – Panbury’s offers authentic British style, handmade savory pies. I loved the Steak & Stout Pie. I have had it three times in the last one month. It’s that good!
Quoc Huong – We recently had food from this amazing Vietnamese eatery known for its sandwiches. The food is not only delicious, but also cheap. Their special chicken sandwich is the best. Their rice dishes are also good. So if you’re a broke college kid, this is the place to be.

Online Marketing Intern
Working at RadiusOnline as a online marketing intern you never have to worry about being on your own for a project. Surrounded by a highly skilled team that enjoys working together as a cohesive group any question you have can be answered. (Within reason) Remember Jim, we’re internet marketers not astrophysicists. (Though we are located 5 minutes from Georgia Tech’s West Campus so you never know.)
What does this mean for you?
I’m glad you asked! If you are debating the death of a main character on Game of Thrones you have an entire entourage to discuss the theories, rumors, and details of your mutual loss. Yes, you also have your Potterheads, Whovians, and any other fandom you care to participate in here as well.
If you want to recount the best plays and highlights of the NBA finals, Superbowl, the World Cup matches, or any other sporting event you’re in luck. At least one person in the office is well educated in the most recent sporting events. If you’re not one to watch sports, but you’re still interested in being a part of the conversation don’t you worry about that either, you will have plenty of colleagues willing to inform you on any recent news all you have to do is ask.
Need something at your work station to improve your environment…well all you have to do is ask and Boom! you will have it. (Again, within reason) Though, I’m not sure how much you can improve the already awesome place that is RadiusOnline.
The next time you bring your lunch or don’t bring your lunch in it doesn’t matter. You will receive an invite from several of your best friends to join them either at the office or to go eat at one of the fantastic restaurants near the office. Did I mention the company caters lunch on Fridays? WHAT!?!
RadiusOnline nurtures the best environment you will ever work in and if you don’t believe it then come see for yourself the culture and interactions between our team members! Feel like you’ve had a long day at work? Don’t want to face the traffic right away when you get off? Well, if I said you’re in luck again would you still believe me? Of course you would!
After-hours at Radius there are games and communal refreshments available for anyone who wants to stay and hang out. Why would you want to stay after working for hours you ask? Well, to hang out with your best friends that’s why! During the summer months we play kickball. Want to explore virtual reality? We have an Oculus Rift. Want to play a colleague on the Xbox One? No problem, just keep your practicing at home to yourself in case all of a sudden you become really good.
At RadiusOnline it is not all fun and games. The reason why we enjoy the high spirits, relaxed environment, and plethora of benefits from working here is because each and every member of the team is intrinsically motivated to achieve the highest potential s(he) can deliver for our clients and our teammates. Due to this unspoken understanding we foster brilliant minds to grow and work to improve ourselves as we work to improve the satisfaction of our clients.
So, if you’re looking to learn, grow, work hard AND have fun each and every day you come into the office then you need to put in an application right now! Find a job you love and you never work a day in your life right? You might even discover yourself looking forward to going in each day.
I’ve never been to a professional baseball game and a Braves game before. The game on June 6th was my first game while I am a online marketing intern at RadiusOnline (and in the world). I am not familiar with baseball since we don’t play baseball in Vietnam, where I was born and grew up. Of course, I’ve heard about it and have seen people playing baseball, but I am not interested in playing or pursuing baseball as a favorite sport. I don’t even know the rule to it. So I came to the game not knowing what to expect about a professional game. But then my experience turned out to be beyond expectation with lots of fun and what awesome people at RadiusOnline have brought to me.
The best part is, the game is free (wait, a professional baseball game is free?). The answer is yes, because the company paid for all the tickets and food and drink. Did I mention ice cream was catered to our suite during the game?
It began when Emily came to me and asked if I want to come tailgating before the game and I said yes. I was pretty excited about it. I arrived at the parking lot around 4pm so we had much time for tailgating. Everybody was excited and was having having a good time. I didn’t expect that we would sit in a suite as it came out to be. Once we sat down at the suite, I started to do some research about the rules! I must have looked confused at that time. Then Brian came up and talked to me about the rules. I felt more comfortable watching it with that information. There was too much drinking and fun going on.
This would be my favorite sport event that I’ve ever attended. And that was at RadiusOnline!
Before I started my online marketing internship at RadiusOnline, I was a little nervous. Not because I was dreading the job, but because my fifth day in the office was my 21st birthday. I’m not the kind of girl who makes a huge deal out of birthdays, but I thought it would be a little uncomfortable just because I was joining a tight-knit team where I was the new girl. In my head, I pictured two scenarios: either that no one would know me well enough to care, or it would be like a scene out of The Office where a boss resembling Michael Scott would go over the top with too much enthusiasm over something that no one else in the office cares about. Needless to say my expectations were low.
What ended up actually happening was not at all like anything I pictured before. I was wrong about thinking that no one would know me well enough to care. I had to give a presentation introducing myself to the company on the day before my birthday, so on my last slide I mentioned that I would be turning 21 the next day. It turned out that everyone in the office was actually listening to my presentation, because on the day of my birthday I came to my desk to find it covered in balloons, streamers, and a banner. When I logged into my computer, there was even a cat wearing a birthday hat set as my background. See below for details:
It was an awesome surprise, and the day kept getting better. All of the interns went out to lunch and took me to get free frozen yogurt and Moe’s. When we came back from lunch, it just so happened that LanNhi ordered cupcakes to celebrate everyone who had birthdays in the past few months. So I had free Mexican food, free frozen yogurt, and then cupcakes. Basically it was the best birthday ever.
It feels good to be in an environment where everyone is so welcoming and fun. It was the first day that I came out of my shell and started to realize that I would really enjoy working here. Between my desk being decorated, lunch with my intern team, and socializing with everyone over cupcakes, I had a great day. And I know what you are thinking. Yes, I was productive at work that day. But I also had a ton of fun. The best part is that I still have that cat picture set as my background. So here’s to a great summer at RadiusOnline!
Creating a better world starts with clarity about who we are. Here are my three ways to make the world a better place:
1. Be nice
It’s so tempting to be rude to people you hate, but don’t let anger and hatred divide people into good and bad. You don’t know the whole story so you can’t judge anyone. You don’t know their thoughts and feelings. After all, there are people who may think that you are a bad person. Be nice to people and they will be nicer to you. Even if they are not nice to you, then let it be. You don’t need to be perfect and make everyone loves you. Get rid of the feelings of hatred and you will feel much happier.
2. Be positive
Everyone benefits when we stop complaining and find the positive instead of focusing on the negative. We can make life easier for ourselves, and the people around us, if we stop worrying about the worst-case scenarios and try to make the best of our situations. When we cultivate a positive mindset, we not only feel more positive, we’re also more likely to create more positive circumstances.
3. Have fun
What people should never forget is to have fun on their lifetime journey. Too many people are bitter with their life because they have forgotten how to enjoy it. If we all have fun and do the things that we love doing, imagine what a wonderful world we would live in. So be the change you wish to see in the world and don’t take all things too serious, smile to the world and enjoy your life. Being an online marketing intern has been a lot of fun.
In my wondering I have traveled to some of the greatest cities in Europe:
London
Paris
I have also been to some unique places in Europe as well:
such as Hallstatt in Austria to visit the Salt Mines
(View from the top of the mountain leading down into the mines.)
Geneva to see the Jet d’Eau
Let’s not forget Keukenhof gardens in Holland! That’s where all the tulips are!
My childhood dream of seeing Neuschwanstein castle came true and my dream of visiting the BMW headquarters in Germany was also fulfilled on my 21st birthday.
In all my travels I enjoyed the food, the people, and the culture. I enjoyed the company of my traveling companions and the miles upon miles that I made them walk to see some of the greatest monuments in the world.
I plan to do more travelling in the future because my adventures are not done yet. However, the one thing that I knew throughout all of my travelling was that one day I would be going home. In my mind I can make a place to stay anywhere. A hostel in Milan located down the street from the city’s “red district,” a cot in the student dormitories where I slept while attending classes at the university of Johannes Kepler, or a park bench in Munich to rest from a day of touring the city.
I can stay anywhere and adapt to the lifestyle of the locals. Walking the same routes every day, taking the same street car to university or to town. Grabbing a drink at a cafe in Paris, sitting down in a movie theater in Linz, Austria to watch the premier of the first Avengers movie, or going to a Hockey game to support the local team. Throughout it all I grew accustomed to travelling light and packing only the essentials (I have to have room for souvenirs of course!)
At the end of the day we always want to go back “home.” Home is when I arrived at the airport and was greeted by my parents and grandparents. Having Chick-fil-a on a Sunday that was saved because it was the first meal I wanted to eat when I returned State-side. Home is the smell of Crêpes, made fresh every morning by my grandfather and served with strawberries as a tradition since before I was born. Yes, I will continue travelling around the world to see its wonders, but I will always return home to good ol’ Atlanta, Georgia, or as we locals say “Adlanna,” because that is where my friends and family have blessed me with the sweetest memories and that is what makes it my home.
Even if they don’t recognize me when I return. lol

I will say that I’m a generally happy person. I adore puppies, love my mommy and daddy, enjoy long walks on the beach, believe that you should always look at thing positively, and like to smile and laugh–the generic traits of a content person.
One belief of mine is that the type of music that a person listens to defines them in some way. Every time you make a playlist on Spotify or 8tracks, it’s like you’re creating a soundtrack to some part of who you are. I will say that I have some very ambient, reminiscent piano pieces on a playlist that I have created, and that’s the side of me that likes to relax and remember old times. I have a very large EDM playlist as well, and that’s the side of me that likes to smile and jump up and down. If you’ve read my coffee post, I use coffee as a place-marker to remember specific places that I’ve visited in my life, but in this case, I use songs as memory-holders to remember specific moments in my life. From songs I briefly danced to when I was little, to songs that I cried to when I was older, I pretty much have a song for all the big moments in my life.
I’ve grown up surrounded by music. I was that Asian child that learned piano at the same time I learned how to walk, and later, I of course picked up violin at school. I was never a very big classical music fan, so I ended up quitting private lessons and teaching myself more new-age songs on the piano. I found my niche that made me feel something in the music. I dropped violin in high school as well after years of hell in orchestra, and I found a love for singing. I joined the praise team at my church and also joined chorus as a joke my senior year last semester. I think it’s around my senior year that I truly discovered how much music mattered to me, so most of my significant songs are from that year.
My life is full of some great memories, and I want to show you some of the top songs on the soundtrack to my life (listen while reading!):
Ocean Avenue by Yellowcard – I was probably in elementary school while my sister was in middle school. She was the cool sibling that knew all the hip new songs, so of course she was my main provider of Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears. Some reason, the most memorable song she showed me was this one. It made me feel old and kind of like a bad-ass. I remember blasting it on our old boom box in the living room with the CD she burned full of boy band songs. We jumped on the tables and the couches, dancing around the living room and going crazy while my grandma shouted at us to get off the furniture.
Paradise by Tiesto & Dyro – It was my first spring break trip where my friends could drive, so we jumped in a car and headed to my friend’s beach house in Destin. We were seniors in high school, lied to our parents that it was only girls (or boys in the other case) going on the trip, and made our way down to the beach. We made a long playlist of songs for the ride, but as always, only one song stuck in my head. There was this moment where we were crossing the bridge that lead to Destin, and this song came on. The windows were down, and we blasted the song while I stuck my head out the rooftop window. It was perfect with the spring break hype song, and when the beat dropped, all of us (including the driver) had our head out windows fist pumping and screaming. What can I say? We were young and alive in the moment!
Home by Phillip Phillips – After joining chorus my last semester in high school as a joke, I ended up falling in love with it. As graduation time came closer, all the seniors were asked to join the senior-class chorus that would sing at the opening of our graduation ceremony. We practiced long afternoons after school; afternoons full of stress and frustration in trying to learn the song. When it came down to the actual performance, we somehow brought it all together. Facing my senior class, I sang every single bittersweet second of the song, singing about how I’ll never be alone while I have my home. It was official. I was leaving high school to go off the college and starting a new era in my life. As we finished the last note, it hung in the air, and I teared up knowing that I was leaving some of the best years of my life.
Clarity by Zedd – This is the point when I really started falling in love with EDM. This song probably played over a million times on every car ride I ever went to, and I never failed to sing my heart out with the windows down. But even through those hundreds of car rides I took while this song was playing, I remember it through one sort of embarrassing moment. It was at a graduation party, and I was with my boyfriend of the time. He was going to school at Berkeley on the other side of the country, and I was going to be staying in state at Tech. We knew we only had a summer left. When this song came on the speakers, we were chilling in the piano room, and I started crying while singing the song. It was an emotional session of sobbing and snotting, and now that I look back on it, I laugh. At that moment, it was the end of the world. Oh high school love. So young and naive.
Solitude by Y&M – I don’t have a link to this song, but if you want to hear it, I have the song on my computer. Pretty much, my (now ex)boyfriend and I made a bucket list on things we had to achieve before we split different ways for college. Both being music lovers, we had creating a short piano piece on the list to complete our playlist of wistful, short piano songs. After some cliche stargazing on his roof and long talks about life, we went straight to the keyboard and started messing around. I will say that I’m very proud of the song we made. It has a sad and ambient tone that makes you think a lot, but to me, it’s the song that defined the last few days I had left to enjoy my summer.
Salsa Tequila by Anders Nilsen – I find this song hilarious. In the peak of the best summer of my life abroad in Barcelona, my friend discovered this song while messing around on YouTube. We were drinking wine (I’m legal in Europe!) and chilling in a room full of friends when he turned this song on. With the funky saxophone and hype drum beat, we started dancing around the room. It pretty much defined my Spanish vocabulary extent with the most generic Spanish words. It was hilarious, and defined us obnoxious Americans in a Spanish speaking country. It pretty much became the theme song to the best summer abroad.
Coffee by Yuna – I started falling in love with the real taste of coffee following the many espressos I drank in Europe. Coming back to Georgia, I couldn’t help but love the feeling of sitting back, relaxing, and sipping on a cup of strong black coffee. This defined my lazy Saturday afternoons. I had no plans of going out, wasn’t going to be doing any homework, and was going to sit on my couch with my cup of hot coffee. Her voice soothed my body, and everything was very relaxing. It’s truly the simple moments that you remember the best.
Sea of Voices by Porter Robinson – This song consumed my life last semester. When I first heard it, I was amazed by sounds that created a stir of emotions inside of me. It was a mix of happy, sad, excited, amazed, and everything else. When I listen to this song, I automatically close my eyes and let it take over. It helped me recollect life when I was drowning in the Tech workload, but here’s the moment I most remember it for:
It was my fall break trip, I had finally made the group of friends I’d always wanted, and we were cruising along mountain roads in the middle of nowhere. We lost all phone service, and for some reason, I had three Porter Robinson songs downloaded on my phone. Those three songs were played the whole time we were driving as well as sitting in the campsite. You’d think that if you were stuck in the middle of nowhere with only three songs to listen to that you’d kill yourself, but we never got sick of the songs. Sea of Voices was a different experience every time I listened to it. Even as I was flying home on my plane yesterday, I downloaded the Porter Robinson Worlds album before taking off, and when this song came on, I closed my eyes and remembered the best camping trip I’d ever been on. I remembered when we took a long nature walk to find the most beautiful waterfalls, when we filled our tents with glow-in-the-dark balloons and played this song, when it started pouring rain and our tents drowned, when the huge tree fell 2 feet away from the car I was sleeping in and almost killed us, when we got stuck in our campsite because the stream we crossed had turned into a river, when we sent our marathon running friend to swim across the river and go run until he found help, and that pure moment of bliss when we got the cars to the other side of the river, soaking wet from pushing and crying from tears of joy and relief. It may sound horrible from an outer perspective, but it was the craziest trip I’ve ever been on and probably the most exhilarating. We live for the crazy moments, and what’s better than near-death moments with your best friends in the middle of nowhere! (:
I pretty much wrote these short stories while listening to each of the songs, and it really made me get the feels. It was great being able to reminisce on my life and remember how I’ve had some of the best times ever surrounded by the best people. Even on the speakers here at Radius, I love it when I hear one of these songs or any other song that makes me think of a specific moment. You never know what throwback song you’re gonna get when you walk into work! I know that there will be so many more songs that will find their way to a place on the soundtrack to my life, and all it takes is a significant memory and a great song. Being a online marketing intern as contributed to that.
So question for you: What songs are on the soundtrack to your life?
My First Day: I remember the day I had to shadow my cousin for a day to see what it’s like to be in his shoes. As I walked in everyone was so kind and friendly welcoming me in the office. At first I was like how nice of them because I was so nervous but when they greeted me my nervousness has gone away. I saw how my cousin worked and how his co workers were so cool because they also like to have fun. I was amazed on how much fun they can be but they also like to work hard which got me motivated. I was so determined that day that I would do anything to work as a online marketing intern at RadiusOnline.
First Impression: I was impressed on how much of a bond the team was. I was loving how there was laughter and everyone was open about how their life was going. Every Thursday after work the company would have kickball tournaments which made the company bond together even more. I believe in team work and the only way to get that team work was to understand each other by bonding and RadiusOnline definitely has that here. I was so impressed on how it felt like a family here and everyone is a hard worker which motivates others as a team.
Experiencing the Tech World: Before I came here to RadiusOnline, I had no clue on what the tech world was about. I was very clueless but also very curious. The time of me being here taught me so much that I had no idea of which I find pretty cool! I learned how to build websites, organize a billing system, how to read a host/domain name, and working as a team to get to our goals. I’m still learning and hoping to discover more awesome stuff about the tech world.
Other: Aside from learning new awesome things I like how the environment is in the office. It just feels like home every time I come in. It’s like going to work with awesome friends which makes you so motivated and keeps it enjoyable. Everyday it’s exciting to hear about others on how their day went or what plans they got for the weekends! Everyone is different in what opinions they have or what they like but one thing that we all can agree on is we have have the same goal.

“Yeah mom. I’m totally going to become a CPA when I get out of college, grab a high paying job, and live the life. I love accounting! It’s so interesting, and I could sit at a desk and do it forever.” – Young, Naive Angela
Well, that dream is over.
Applying for colleges as a senior, I was dead set on majoring in accounting. I took an accounting class, found it pretty easy, and even landed myself two internships in accounting during my senior year of high school. It was the life! The numbers matched up easily, accounting made sense, and I didn’t mind sitting in a desk continuously working in silence. Just me and my computer full of numbers.
But you know what? Life changes, and you never know it hit you… until you start hating the idea of what you planned your future out to be. Coming in as accounting, I talked to some of my accountant friends and found that their lives were dull. They worked a 9 to 5 “whenever they finished their work which was late at night most of the time” job, and barely had time to spend with friends or family. Having not even taken an accounting class in college yet, I was afraid and wanted to switch out.
Freshman year was eye opening. I hated college. I didn’t like the people I met, and I didn’t like what I was doing. As I’ve written before, it was my study abroad that changed my life. I met a great group of people who were from very diverse backgrounds, and I discovered that there are some awesome people out there; I just hadn’t been meeting the right ones. This changed who I was because I was finally happy with college as I entered my second year. I decided to rush, meet new people, and start my college experience over on a clean slate. The result? A new perspective on what I want to do in life.
Going abroad made me want to see the world and actually make an impact. I wanted to do something exciting that I fully enjoyed for the rest of my life. Accounting? BORING. So I chose to switch over to finance. I could still be working with the numbers I loved so dearly, but I could actually analyze them and do so much more. After talking to some people who followed their careers on the finance pathway, I once again found them hating their lives. Everyone had a different story based on what they did with finance, but I knew that I wanted to do something different. So I was at a point of confusion. Where do I go from here?
My friend Carolyn told me about her online marketing internship at RadiusOnline where she worked in marketing. I personally had never considered marketing as something I’d do as a career, but she made it sound like Radius was open to allowing her to learn more than just the basics of marketing. Curious and hungry to learn more about this area, I applied to a marketing intern position for the spring and gratefully accepted the position.
Marketing was a new world. Even though I did work on a lot of blogging posts, I loved that I was able to apply technological skill because everything was done online. I loved the feeling when I got to post up all the blog posts that I had edited onto the actual eDentalImage website. Marketing was something that I had no idea I was interested in, but I found a soft spot in my heart for it. Radius helped me cultivate this new-found interest in the area of marketing.
Am I majoring in marketing? No. I’ve actually chosen operation and supply chain at school because the aspect of it intrigues me. I will say that the idea of committing to one thing for the rest of my life is hard, which is why I’m going to try to learn everything about anything while I can. I love efficiency, and I’m hoping that my new choice in what I’m concentrating in helps me fall in love with it more. Marketing is still something I’m very involved in, and I just accepted a VP of Marketing position in the Students Consulting for Nonprofit Organizations club! The abroad program I’m deciding on for this summer is also a 50/50 chance that it will either have to do with marketing or consulting.
Radius has allowed me to be flexible in the experiences I have, and now I’m in the IT sector. I found that I loved working with technology during the marketing projects, so during my mid-term analysis, I switched over. I’m happy that I’ve finally found things that interest me, and there’s only more experiencing and learning from here on out!
Don’t ever settle. Go for more. Explore! Going abroad for half of the summer is something that Radius has promoted, and I will be returning right after. So love what you do, and keep searching!
Atlanta. The home of the Braves. The southern city of hospitality. The land of endless Waffle Houses on every street. And recently, as always, the place where the weather changes so drastically from day to day, that the city’s weather has been diagnosed with a bipolar disorder. Also known as my home and the city I’ve spent the past 19 (almost 20!) years in. Well… technically Atlanta. We say that so we don’t have to explain that we came from one of the suburban cities outside of the Perimeter.
Growing up in the suburbs, I never really experienced the actually city of Atlanta other than the occasional errand here and there, so I thought that “Atlanta” was boring and dull. The people were closed-minded, and there was nothing to do. I thought that going to college, I’d finally be able to escape the 18 years I had spent growing up in “Atlanta,” but I soon found out that the Hope/Zell Miller scholarship would keep me in the city’s grasp for 4 more years (or 5 or 6 or 7… it’s Tech, you never know). Devastated that I wasn’t going to be going to my dream school in California, I grudgingly chose Tech, knowing that it’d be the most financially smart choice. I started college with the mindset that I’d be stuck with the same people for the rest of my life. The people in the suburbs that I thought were “Atlantans.”
That’s the “hate” side of my Atlanta. Here’s what’s changed since then:
I started off freshman year with a “I’m here because it’s cheap, everyone at Tech is awkward, school is depressing and hard, I don’t want to be here” mindset. Of course, that got my freshman, noob-like self nowhere. It was when I went abroad to Barcelona the summer after freshman year that everything changed. Even though I absolutely fell in love with that city, I came to love my own city a little more.
Taking an architecture class on cities and what makes them successful, I learned a lot more about Atlanta than I thought I would. Because Barcelona is structured so methodologically, our class concentrated on its great transportation system, the cultural/historical buildings, and the people-friendly layout of the city in general. This also included bashing on Atlanta’s horrible transportation system (MARTA honestly doesn’t get you anywhere useful except the airport), the lack of historical architecture, and the un-walkable layout of the city. The point of the class was to see why Barcelona was such a booming success of a tourist city, and pretty much was supposed to show why Atlanta sucked. The lesson I learned at the end of the course was completely different.
Why were people bashing on how much Atlanta sucked? Even though it did fail in some big areas to classify it as a “great” city, there were still lots a great perks to the city I called home. We’re the home to the Coca-Cola factory and the 2nd largest aquarium in the world. We’re the birthplace of the civil rights movement in America. We have the world’s largest drive-in restaurant–even though Varsity honestly isn’t that great. If there was no Atlanta in Georgia, then Georgia would just be another Alabama.
I learned that even though Atlanta wasn’t as thoroughly thought through in its building process as Barcelona, that’s what made it different. We’re that underdog city that’s on the rise. We’re a city that has been growing out of the close-minded ideas that shrouded our growth, and now we’re accepting of all changes. We’re racially diverse while we keep our southern hospitality intact. We’ve also come a long way to accept all types of sexuality, which can be seen in the large gay community that we have today. If you don’t already know, we’re a growing tech city that is a top start-up hub. This has given growth to the multitude of start-ups everywhere, including our very own RadiusOnline! And of course, we’re the best.
Through all the bashing that we did over the summer, I only came to find more excuses to love Atlanta. We are the little guy that’s trying to define ourselves in a world full of cities that got a head start. If you end up becoming a dweller of the city, you come to find the hidden coffee shops, the hole-in-the-wall restaurants, the mystical boutiques, and the quaint patches of nature scattered throughout the city. Going to college in the real Atlanta, I’ve met the most amazing and diverse and open-minded peers that have been pushing me to grow in every way. “Atlanta” became Atlanta; a place that I can call home.
It’s days like today that I fall a little harder for Atlanta. As the bipolar weather turned once again, we were blessed with seventy degree weather and clear skies. With the top down on my friend’s convertible, the EDM music loud, and the wind in our hair, we soaked in the sun today, driving through the city and taking random turns in order to get lost. We ended up at Willy’s, grabbed some good Mexican food, walked out to Piedmont Park, sat on the grassy hills, people-watched while chowing down, climbed some trees like kids, and hopped back in the car for some more joy riding. Completely lost in the city, we had permanent smiles plastered on our faces–just a bunch of teenagers blasting music and speeding down a street full of hipsters and their hipster businesses. Of course, we found our way home by searching for the trusty golden pencil in the sky–our beacon and symbol of home. A pencil that to me signifies the beauty of the city (while meaning something completely different to my dad).

As most of the individuals in my life know, I can be quite a “freak” when it comes to health. Bringing in green smoothies and kale salads to work have gotten me plenty of remarks, such as “that looks gross” and the popular “you eat like a rabbit”. Even through the criticism, I have stayed mostly true to the values of my eating habits. Eating clean is now my eating habit, but it was once only just a choice. I had to decide to eat this way, because I knew it was a step to get me closer to mental, physical and personal freedom. I wasn’t born this way, vegans aren’t born vegan, paleo-dieters aren’t born paleo – they learn, they decide to change, and they make dieting a habit. So I decided to make it a habit too.
After making my diet a habit, I chose to also change my relaxing habits. These new habits included stretching, reading and, most importantly, meditating.
I started by meditating and stretching specifically in my room. I would close my door, put on some instrumental music and just relax. The big difference between just stretching and stretching while meditating is the absence of thought. Well, not every thought. Humans are pretty much always inclined to think, but meditating teaches you to think about thinking. It sounds like a weird paradox, but it’s easily explained when actually experienced. For understanding purposes, here is an example:
You have a big test coming in 2 days that you have yet to study for. You are quite stressed and, instead of effectively studying, you worry. An hour passes by and you can’t retain any of the information you just studied, which makes you even more worried. You finally decide enough is enough and begin to meditate. While meditating, you breathe in and out deeply, thinking about what has been stressing you out. Thoughts seem to slow down, until you are able to pin-point the problem that has been causing you the most stress. You sit there, thinking about that problem, and decide it shouldn’t be a problem anymore. You throw away the problem. The issue creeps back a few minutes later, you notice you are worrying again, and you throw away the thought for good. You now decide to stop meditating and start studying. The problem is completely erased from your mind and all you can think about is the material at hand. You are going to ace this test.
This is a hypothetical example, but is definitely based off of many true stories from my life. You can almost think of it as juggling. Whether it be family, school, work, cars, friends, health issues or something else, you are always juggling. No matter how many items you juggle, you have the power to focus 0n any item you are juggling. You have the ability to focus on the problem or on the solution. You have the ability to focus on family or friends. Whatever it is, we all have the ability to focus.
Focusing on one thing, whether worried or not, has always been extremely hard feat for me to accomplish. I mean, the World is so big and interesting – I just want to be a part of everything! Even though optimistic, this isn’t always a realistic goal. In most situations, I can’t be everywhere, doing everything, all at the same time. This is definitely a hard task to complete. I can tell you what I can do though – I can think I am everywhere, doing everything, all at the same time. It’s called not-focusing, day-dreaming and focusing more on the future than the present. It’s not healthy, it’s not realistic, it’s not productive. I had to learn the hard way that focusing in the now is the only way I can obtain a better future. I mean, if all I can think about is the future and can’t even finish my homework, how am I going to get to the future? Meditating helped teach me to relax my mind and stay more in the present, the most important, the now.
There are many reasons I put meditation on the top of the list of relaxing techniques most beneficial for health. Through personal experience, meditating made me an overall better person. Better focus, less stress, calmer attitude, higher tolerance for collaboration and higher work output. I mean, it’s one thing to have physical health, but it is another to have mental health.
I wrote this article not to persuade anyone to diet or meditate, but more to help people understand the importance of overall well-being. Unlike what many people believe, well-being is a combination of knowledge, discipline and persistence. One must be knowledgeable of the activities that bring health into the body, as well as the activities that damage the body. One must be disciplined to sacrifice short-term things (such as cupcakes) for long-term well-being. One must also be persistent, sticking to values and moving forward even after the every-now-and-then cheat day. Health and well-being are not about being perfect, but they are about being more considerate to what’s most important – you.

Coffee. <– The lyrics to the song describe my love for it. It calms and fuels my soul for the upcoming obstacles of the day. The simple, black liquid fills my favorite pale blue mug each morning, warming my heart and my hands before a long day of work and classes. Relaxing my body with its rich smells and aroma, the coffee delights my taste buds with the mix of flavors and distinct taste of each bean. As I relax and sink into my warm cup of coffee, I also begin to awaken my mind to my surroundings with a heightened sense of reaction to everything.
I know what you’re thinking. This girl’s one of those “hipster” people who drink their coffee black, only goes to “hipster” coffee shops, wears Wayfarer-style glasses, hates mainstream music… but that’s really not me. I do find those “hipster” coffee shops really cool, but I don’t own those big framed glasses. Black coffee is a taste that I’ve acquired over time, possibly symbolizing my aging and loss of youth… but I’m still into the mainstream EDM and pop. I just really love black coffee and want to talk about it!
When I travel, I like to see my new surroundings through a simple cup of coffee. Coffee can tell you a lot about a place, and it helps you immerse yourself into the culture. I believe that you can see the world through a cup of coffee, and I want to show you a glimpse of the world I’ve seen through the many cups of coffee I’ve consumed. Coffee has shown me the world from places I will probably only visit once in my life, to places where coffee has helped me find home.
It was four college kids traveling through the sanctuary on a lagoon, lost in the labyrinth of alleys and hungry by nature. We came upon a small cafe off to the side of a not so busy square where the sun was beginning to creep over the buildings, casting shadows everywhere. As our stomachs led us to the seats of the cafe, I ordered a cup of coffee to start off my morning. Sipping on the foam of the milk mixed in with the espresso, I observed the lost tourists, the busy locals, the sneaky street performers trying to grab the attention and wallets of the tourists, and all I saw was a beautiful city with contrasting lives that arbitrarily overlapped. I found myself getting “lost” each morning after that, stumbling across the same cafe to sip on my morning coffee and fall more in love with the city and its people. Damn, that coffee was good.
Through the blur of the best summer of my life, I will never forget the daily cafe con leches that I downed every morning right before classes in the school cafe. With my broken Spanish, I made friends with the cafe guys, who knew my coffee order as soon as I walked in. If it had been a long night of exploring the Barcelona night life, my dear friend Guillermo would put in an extra shot of espresso just based on the look on my face. It was a constant habit that got me addicted to the strong, rich taste of espresso with hot milk–the bane of my functioning existence that summer. As I fell more and more in love with Barcelona, it hurt to have leave the city that brought me so much joy, introduced me to lifelong friends, and provided mornings with genuinely good coffee. What I would do to go back one more time, walk into that cafe, look Guillermo straight in the eye, and get that perfect cup of cafe con leche to start off my day.
Traveling through the city with Carolyn, I wanted to see Philly for the coffee it had to offer, so we used Yelp to find that perfect cup of coffee (just like your dental practice or auto body shop can be found if you have great ratings ;D). Walking in, I knew that it was my kind of place–exposed brick walls, dark wooden tables, a variety of coffee makers, and the rich aroma of dark coffee wafting through the air. It was hipster paradise with a multitude of men in black beanies, scruffy beards, wayfarer glasses, skinny jeans, and the hipster aurora radiating off their bodies. Ordering a black coffee from beans made in Kenya, I sipped on my strong and flavorful coffee, reflecting over the few moments in college that I’ll have to explore the world with my best friends. Watching the strange, urban crowd of Philadelphia sift through the coffee shop, I found myself leaving a part of my heart in the city.
Back near my hometown, I stumbled upon a little coffee shop with the tacky name Orange Coffee Bar. If you disregard the name, you’ll also be mesmerized by the richness of the coffee that is served. The menu had no typical Starbucks drinks listed, but an assortment of fancy coffee names that I totally knew had to look up on Google. Ordering the most unique things on the menu, I was ecstatic to see my affogato come out as a glass goblet filled with ice cream, paired with a shot of espresso to pour on top–only to create the most mind-boggling, delicious combination of coffee and ice cream that I had ever come across. The macaroons, imported from France, were some of the best I’d ever had, and the iced espresso Coke combination blew my mind. My taste-buds were pleasantly treated to an assortment of great flavors. Immediately became my favorite coffee shop by home. Did I mention that it’s Korean owned? So I’m surrounded by my people. Lol.
If there’s one place I know will always have coffee flowing like water, it’s Radius. Since the first day I started working, I watched everyone walk into the small kitchen with their mugs, eager to get a few pumps of coffee to start the morning meeting. What I didn’t know was that Radius would make me an addict, so I write this blog with jittering hands and dilated pupils. The most heartbreaking moment is when I go to the coffee machine, the sign says “Full,” but the sign has lied because it’s empty. The sputtering sound of a coffee-dry machine hurts me more than is should… Other than that, I love grabbing one of the various mugs on the counter, filling it with the black liquid of life, and drinking it while working on my assignments. Best part is that I know I’m drinking it in the coolest office ever with the coolest people. My heart will forever will be with Radius… and the coffee that’s always there for me.
3 tablespoons of dark roast Arabian coffee + 2 tablespoons of Pumpkin Spice coffee = perfection. Whether I am waking up in the morning, staying up all night for school, or just trying to get my daily coffee in, I can always trust my handy french press to make my perfect cup of coffee. Fall is my favorite season, so the kick of pumpkin in my mug gets me going. Sitting in my apartment, I sit on the left side of the dining table, where I can see the city skyline at an angle from the window. Living on the 10th floor, I get a straight view of the pencil building, a constant reminder as my dad says “to remind you to study all the time,” and a look onto the traffic accidents on I-75. With the Christmas lights strung across the living room, a feeling of peace fills my body as I sip my coffee, enjoying my time as a college student. Tech may be hard, but relaxing to your favorite cup of joe reminds you to reflect on the good things in life.
Coffee is everywhere you go. Take time to step back from the world, get yourself a cup of coffee, and see where it takes you. It helps you relax and reflect on the good parts of life that you usually overlook. For me, I remember cities and places based on that one cup of coffee I had there. It’s like a place-marker on places and times in life that I hold dear to my heart. Coffee is my way of seeing life.
So here’s to exploring and conquering the world–one coffee cup at a time.
Sincerely,
Online Marketing Intern
As I have grown older, I have developed a fond interest in traveling. As cliché as it sounds, traveling changed my life. I studied abroad in Istanbul and Budapest, worked in Montenegro, have family in Germany and have been on multiple road trips in the great United States of America. Words cannot describe the memories and experiences I have made while traveling around the World. Though I have visited many places, I have barely scratched the surface of this planet called Earth. Here is a list of 10 cities I recommend visiting (and hope to visit) in the near future:
10) Seoul, South Korea
With a population of 10 million people, Seoul is the capital city and largest metro area of South Korea. Seoul is known for its technologically advanced infrastructure, boasting economy (4th largest in the World), KPOP music industry and Gangnam district. Don’t be shocked when you see how well dressed everyone is, because this is one of the most fashion-driven cities in the World. Seoul is a large city with a futuristic feel that is definitely worth exploring.
9) Dubai, United Arab Emirates
One of the fastest growing cities of all times, Dubai is a city of contrasts. People from around the World visit this area of desert, ocean and sprawling city to experience how a real modern city feels. Dubai offers a lot for any traveler, including: skydiving, sailing, visiting the World’s largest mall, clubbing, renting a room in the World’s only 6-star hotel and much more. Just make sure to save your money: Dubai is in the top 10 most expensive cities for vacations.
8) Singapore
Another Asian country made my top 10 list! At #8, Singapore hits the list for its luxurious pools, classy experiences and surrounding scenery. This is definitely an island I would enjoy visiting for work or a romantic date.
7) Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
One of the most beautiful cities in the World, Rio de Janeiro takes the 7th spot on my top 10 list. Rio is famous for it’s carnivals, especially Cordão do Bola Preta which holds around 2.5 million people every year! Rio is also known for Copacabana Beach, Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf Mountain, Tijuca Forest and holding the 2014 World Cup. Prepare to get a few months of hard gym training in before heading to Rio – the people here have placed #1 in attractiveness for the past 5 years!
6) Cappadocia, Turkey
Cappadocia is known for its vast variety of “fairy chimneys”, which are tall, thin rods of rock. Cappadocia is ranked 2nd in the World for these “fairy chimney” natural wonders and 1st for the best place to ride hot-air balloons. Hey, who wouldn’t want to ride a hot-air balloon?
5) Gold Coast, Australia
Often called “Surfer’s Paradise” for its perfect waves, Gold Coast is a great place for any beach lover! Gold Coast boasts numerous activities such as water sports, tanning, fishing and snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef. As if the beaches weren’t already enough reason to go to Australia, the people here are amazing as well. Australians are fun-living, healthy people with a very optimistic outlook on life. Definitely worth a vacation!
4) Patagonia, Argentina
Widely known from the popular clothing brand, Patagonia is near the bottom coast of South America. Originally a secret spot for backpackers, the region has become a very popular place to stop for cruisers visiting Antarctica. The region has a wide variety of grasslands, rivers, plains and of course, mountains. Patagonia is also one of the last regions to see wild horses in their natural habitat. Definitely the perfect spot for anybody interested in rock climbing and hiking!
3) Hunan, China
Hunan, China offers a lot of opportunities for any traveler wanting to experience the ancient culture of China. Hunan contains the Wulingyuan region, which consists of sharp, tall spears of rock formations unlike any others in the World. Hunan also has large cities, ancient temples, mountains and forests, making it a perfect place for all adventure-driven enthusiasts.
2) Munich, Germany
If you are a snowboarder or enjoy snow-skiing, make sure to head to Munich, Germany! Munich is the 3rd best place in the World for skiing and also one of the funnest cities to live. Munich offers a lot of old German culture and architecture, as well as a boasting economy and relatively young population. If you aren’t planning to ski the Bavarian Alps, make sure to check out Frauenkirche, Hofbräuhaus or the famous Oktoberfest. The region is also great for foodies that would enjoy tasting cuisines such as Weißwurst (white sausage), Weissbier and Apfelstrudel. Sports, cuisine, parties and all-around fun in this historic city!
1) London, England
The capital city of England, a city of opportunity, a city that never stops….it’s London! London took my #1 spot because 9/10 people say they would love to visit (and I am one of them). Fashion, business, technology, innovation, arts and sports are all huge in London, England. The city also has a very diverse, young culture due to its 43 international and regional Universities such as Oxford University. Some cool spots to visit in London include: the Tower of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Piccadilly Circus, and Hyde Park. Cricket, football (the international kind) and rugby are all huge sports in London, so try to be somewhat knowledgeable when visiting!

I remember my first time as a online marketing intern at RadiusOnline like it was yesterday. I came in all set and ready for my interview, only to find out that I had come in a week earlier than scheduled. My clumsy brain had messed up… again. When I came in on the actual day, I got a look at the office and fell in love. With the exposed pipes on the ceiling and the open, door-free office space, I knew that Radius was different. At that time, I was undecided on my concentration because I had recently dropped finance due to its dry nature, so I was nervous to talk about what I was interested in doing. Explaining that I wanted to try out new things in order to find out what I really love, I was at ease when they told me that the internship program would allow me to work on many different things. I’m the type of person that loves changing up my day-to-day schedule and taking on new challenges, so I found that this internship was the perfect opportunity to learn and try out projects that I never would’ve tried otherwise. As I was leaving, I heard 2 Chainz playing on the speakers and fell a little harder for Radius.
My first week starting off, I met the other interns as well as the rest of the team. The environment was friendly, my favorite EDM music was playing on the speakers, coffee flowed like water, everyone was working hard but also taking the time to socialize, and I took it all in, knowing that I had found a company whose culture and values fit mine. I’m the type of person who takes a while to relax and act like my normal self in a new environment, but it happened in no time at Radius. It was probably my About Me presentation that set it off. Nowhere I had worked before cared about letting the office know about who I was and my interests, so I decided to let everyone know the “unique” side of me off the bat. After the generic passions and general info slides, I showed a bit of my personality and humor with my “weird” talents slide. So I went ahead and barked, licked my elbow, cried like a new-born baby, etc. until I had the room cracking up. Weirdly enough, I had stumbled upon a great group of diverse and accepting people that found it entertaining, and I knew that I had found a place that fit me.
I was given a project of working on eDentalImage, helping improve the SEO of the website by editing the blogs and changing words to make them more dental search engine friendly. There was a great feeling of accomplishment when I was asked to publish them all onto the website, and I knew that I had taken part in helping develop the company website. I’m currently working on writing new blogs for CarCareConnect, and the more I research on how to write effective blogs, the more I learn about optimizing the website in different ways. I was able to apply things I had learned in my IT class and actually put it to use. Working with digital marketing, I have learned so much about utilizing social media and the importance of an efficient company website. These have just been the initial projects, but I can’t wait to take on other projects that teach me new skills and push the borders of my learning.
As I am learning new things and taking on different projects, I can’t help but be excited everyday that I’m here. Every Friday, we have catered lunch from a variety of amazing Atlanta restaurants that I never knew existed. Food is a passion of mine, and they take food very seriously here–a great thing in my opinion. Everyone works hard, seen in the increasing numbers we hear about at each meeting, but we also know how to play hard. I’ve learned the importance of creating a company culture that fosters the growth of the relationship of the team, and I fall more and more in love with Radius each day because of it. Also, I’m taking an organizational behavior class, and everything that I’ve learned in that class about a great company environment has been defined by what Radius does. There’s always company social events, including an upcoming Karaoke night at the office, and I can’t wait to get to know the people even more. I feel more and more at home as time goes on.
I’m excited to keep on working and developing all sorts of skills with RadiusOnline. I love the people that I work with, learning new things that I never thought I’d be interested in, trying new foods, drinking coffee on the daily like a boss, and growing with a company that is doing great things. Here’s to a great semester!
My first few weeks here as an online marketing intern RadiusOnline have been incredible! I have learned a lot about the business and the people I am surrounded by. Here is a list of some of my experience here at RadiusOnline:
Atmosphere:
The atmosphere at RadiusOnline is a lot different than what I am familiar with from previous internship atmospheres. Unlike most corporate offices, it is very laid back and comfortable here in the office. Big chairs, a kitchen, a putting green, and lots of space to move around. Staying in one spot can be very hard at times, so I really enjoy that I can move freely through the office to work. I also enjoy that the office is fun. One day the team even brought in their dogs for us to hang out with! Was pretty shocked to learn that I can accomplish work while also feeling extremely comfortable. Another thing I enjoy are all the inspirational quotes. The whole team receives an inspirational quote everyday to start the day with a fresh, new start. It’s a great atmosphere.
Coworkers:
My coworkers are awesome! All very bright, humorous people. We have lunch together every Friday* and we always have great conversations. I felt welcome the first day I started working, because everyone is very easy to get along with. Not going to lie, it took a really long time for me to actually learn everyone’s names, but it became easier after speaking to everyone individually. I did an “About Me” so everyone could learn more about myself, and it broke the ice fairly quickly. I am definitely looking forward to hanging out more in the future – especially Karaoke night.
*Food is a hot topic here at RadiusOnline
Skills:
My favorite part of the internship is all the knowledge I am gaining for a future career. Before RadiusOnline, I was unfamiliar with the world of Digital Marketing and Search Engine Optimization. Through team meetings and training I have broadened my horizon about how Digital Marketing and SEO work. I have also learned a lot about the bridge between Marketing and Sales. Marketing and Sales go hand-in-hand, and it is awesome to learn first-hand how each action can affect the other. The other skills I have gained include: creating blogs, organizing a billing system, working in a team and growing/managing social media. Although I have learned a lot, one of the most important things I have learned at RadiusOnline is time management. Managing my time interning, going to school, working and exercising has been a challenge that I have learned to overcome. Over the past few weeks, I have experienced first hand how time management and teamwork can grow a company. I am excited to see what else I will learn in the future!
Other:
In addition to all the skills I have gained from RadiusOnline, I have also learned a lot about the surrounding World. Everyone in the office is very involved in the surrounding community and global issues. We often engage in discussions about development projects in Atlanta, sports, music, food and global epidemics. There was a day that I spent a whole lunch break with some coworkers discussing organic farming, travel and cultural differences. It is a great feeling to come into an office where people are so involved and complex.
My time spent at Radius has been one of the best experiences of my life. As my first “corporate” job, my eyes were opened to the way the business world operates. I have made incredible relationships here that I know will last beyond this internship and the possibilities for my career have opened up in a huge way. For example, I am searching for my first job out of college currently. Before I had Radius on my resume, I was not having very much success and didn’t have much to talk about in interviews. Once I added Radius, it was like a day and night difference. Employers have recognized the skills that I have been able to learn here and have responded accordingly. I have been incredibly blessed by my time spent here and can’t thank Radius enough for the opportunity. To conclude my time as a online marketing intern here, here is one final picture of Taylor Swift:
Wow! I can’t believe the semester is actually over. I have to say, it has been the best and worst semester of my college career. I have had a lot of late nights and early mornings, but it has been worth it. While I’ve been working hard to manage two jobs and a full class load, Radius has been a place I can come to escape from the pressure of school. There have been multiple days where I would have much rather stayed at work and finish a project instead of going to class. My work at Radius was not just busy work, but work that helped me grow in the field I love. I have learned so much working on data analytics. In fact, my internship with Radius has inspired me to get a certificate in Business Analytics from Georgia Tech. I love being able to make predictions about the future based on key performance indicators and even help make decisions based on the past.
Being a Online Marketing Intern has not only taught me a lot about business, but it has also taught me some things about life too. The people I have worked with over the last few months are some of the nicest and most caring people I have ever met. They are always looking to help other people and do whatever it takes to make someone else’s life easier. My co-workers inspire me to continuously be looking for ways to help other people. Overall, I absolutely loved my internship at Radius and am excited to be coming back next semester as a part-time employee!! Always moving upward and onward!
Upon arriving at Radius as a Online Marketing Intern, I received a pretty quick reputation as a dude who loves Taylor Swift. I don’t regret this because, after all, it is incredibly true. She is an incredible marketer and that is what drove her to sell 1.3 million albums in one week. No one has done this since 2002. But what has led to a lot of publicity is the fact that she removed her music from Spotify. How could she do this?! I want to listen to her music using my subscription fee, not actually purchasing the album! Clearly, it was a smart move as no other artist has been able to have that much success in recent history.
Everyday at Radius, I look at numbers. Sometimes it gets overwhelming. Sometimes I have no idea what I am looking at. And most of the time I know exactly what I am looking at but don’t know how to look at it in a way that creates value for Radius. However, when the moment comes where you finally realize what the numbers are telling you, the feeling is like nothing else. It is like you found buried treasure or scored the winning touchdown in the Super Bowl (ok, maybe not that cool, but its pretty awesome). This is what I believe happened when Taylor and her people decided to remove their music from Spotify.
I believe they looked at their options, saw that they had the power to be able to continue selling music, not through the popular method of the time, and they made a tough decision. They saw that Spotify isn’t going away, but their initial release of this album will be. Had they unveiled it on Spotify they would have lost many sales from people who wouldn’t have purchased the album (myself included). Payouts for an entire year from Spotify plays for an artist like Taylor Swift can reach up to $6 million dollars, according to Spotify (although, Taylor Swift’s CEO claims only $500,000). That is a significant chunk of change. However, by removing her album, she was able to reach that goal in one week. One. Week. And once the market for Taylor’s CD has played itself out in a month or two, I will bet that you can find her album right there on Spotify seeking that $6 million that she can now get on top of the sales she just generated from selling her album separately. This is a group of people who looked at the numbers, saw that they were in a position to generate an incredible amount of value, made a tough decision, and succeeded in a big way.
Taylor Swift is an incredible artist who makes great music. But it is her business-minded decisions and marketing that will make her remain atop the music world.
It’s coming down the end of the semester. (Dun-dun-dunnnn.) During this time, the trees turn all kinds of pretty colors and I get to wear sweaters and boots. That alone makes this kind of season spectacular despite the cold. Aside from weather changes, other things also come with this time of year. Namely, Christmas. Christmas seems to come sooner and sooner every single year. This year, I went shopping for food for a Halloween party the day before Halloween. I walked around the store, got the food I needed, and then decided to look for some extra decorations. That is when I noticed it. Christmas trees everywhere. Why in the world would Walmart start Christmas before Halloween? While I don’t know how I feel about starting the Christmas celebration in October, I do like the idea of starting to watch Christmas movies sooner rather than later. Christmas movies are a big of my pre-Christmas celebration. I have quite a few traditions that I try to keep up with every year. One tradition is to repeatedly watch Elf. If you have never seen Elf, you are doing life wrong. If you don’t like Elf, you have no sense of humor and also are doing life wrong. (#sorrynotsorry) Elf is one of the single best Christmas movies of all time. Because of this, a few friends and I have set a standard for ourselves. We have decided to work at least one quote from Elf into our conversations every day. Don’t judge. It’s a good time. (Here are some of the best Elf moments/quotes ever.)
Aside from Elf, I also have a tradition of watching Rudolph with one of my best friends from high school. We started the tradition sophomore year with and have continued to keep the tradition throughout college. If you were wondering, the tradition consists of going to his house, eating dinner, and going outside where we project the movie on the side of his house and sit around a camp fire eating s’mores.
While Elf and Rudolph are great and a lot of fun, there is one movie tradition that I do with my family that I look forward to the most. Every year, on Christmas Eve, my family watches It’s a Wonderful Life. This tradition has gone back as far as I can remember. My family gets together, opens one present each, and then watches the movie. Pretty simple. Nothing to extravagant. But, to be honest, I think I look forward to this time more than Christmas morning. With being away from college and moving out of my parents’ house, I realize how much I really miss spending time with my family. Getting to stay with them during the Christmas season and spend time relaxing and just watching a great movie is something I cherish and look forward to every year.

When I accepted this internship in August, I was a little nervous. As a post-graduate, I was searching for a full-time position, not something temporary! But after visiting the office for my in-person interview, I left with a great feeling. I knew that even if I only spent a few months here, I’d come away with a lot of valuable experience. I knew it would be worth it.
A couple of weeks ago, at my mid-semester internship evaluation, LanNhi and Vu sat me down and offered me a full-time graphic designer position. I almost couldn’t believe it. I mean, I don’t even mind getting up at 7am every day to make it here. This is a big deal. I immediately said yes.
This week marked my first as an “official” employee. Besides keeping slightly longer hours that results in a slightly longer commute (yay suburbia), for me the transition so far has been seamless.
When I graduated in May, I did a lot of thinking about whether I wanted to pursue design in a corporate or agency setting. The first keeps regular hours but can suffocate creativity, while the second offers plenty of variation and energy but typically requires late hours that can lead to early burnout. I did enough of the latter in college. I like my sleep. To me, RadiusOnline is the perfect blend of a corporate and agency setting. Everyone here has such positive energy that having fun at work and making cool, creative things happen are givens.
And now, that creativity has a department! Guy and I are the first members of Radius’ new Creative Department, and we have a lot of big ideas for how we want to help the company grow. We want to use design to make a brand that people can identify with and feel a connection to. We want to make things happen. And maybe dance to some TSwift along the way.

My time here at RadiusOnline has truly flown by, and I cannot believe that I’ve been interning here for about two months now. When I started in August, I had no idea what to expect, or what would be expected of me, but I can honestly say that this internship has been one of the most impactful and engaging experiences of my college career. From the incredible team atmosphere, to the delicious free treats, to the opportunities and educational experiences I have been granted, I can’t imagine a better internship atmosphere, and I look forward to learning more and contributing more as the semester continues.
While I am passionate about business and marketing, I have several other interests as well, including travel, photography, art, corny humor, poetry, cooking, and fitness, and I have always been concerned that in my educational and professional pursuits I will no longer have time to devote to these passions. Through this internship, I have learned not only that this is not the case, but also that these interests can integrate with my professional passions. This has been especially evident with the RocketLevel project I have working on, where I have had the opportunity to develop most of the literary content for the marketing materials and the company website. I have been given a lot of creative freedom with this content, which has allowed me to sneak in ample space puns. I have loved this project, especially because it has allowed me to fuse my love of written language and cheesy humor with my work.
Due to my love of language, I enjoy discovering new words. One word that I have been especially keen on recently is acatalepsy. Acatalepsy refers to the idea that human knowledge can never reach certainty, only probability, and that it is more meaningful to question than to draw conclusions. Throughout the past week, I have been contemplating this word, and I think it is incredibly relevant to my internship experience. There will always be more for me to learn and explore at RadiusOnline, and I find that so exciting. I can’t wait for the coming months!
To finish, I will exit with a corny space joke: How do you get a baby astronaut to sleep? You rocket!
Sincerely,
Online Marketing Intern
Last week, during a leadership development meeting, I was listening to a speaker discuss keys to becoming a successful person. He had a lot of great points and I loved what he said, but his material isn’t what stuck out to me. What stuck out to me was the fact that he continuously referred to the group as “sports fan”. I don’t know how much you know about Georgia Tech, but sports are not something that we are well known for. Video games? Engineering? Math? Robots? Yes. Sports? No. I mean, our band even performs a tribute to science and math every home football game. So, if I were talking to a group of Georgia Tech students, “sports fans” is not something I would refer to them as.
Even though we are not too well known in the sport’s world, occasionally GT will do something to end up on ESPN. During the GT vs Miami football game a couple weekends ago, Georgia Tech actually made it on ESPN for something other than a blown play. Our football chaplain, Derrick Moore gave the best pre-game speech ever. If you haven’t heard it yet, I’ve included it at the bottom of this post. (P.S. This video will get you pumped up even if you don’t like football or Georgia Tech.)
There are a few things that Derrick says in his speech that I think are really important to everyday life. One thing he points out is that most of the hard work the team had done to prepare for the game was done in the off season. For those of you that don’t keep up with GT football, before this game, GT was 4-0 and went on to beat Miami and ended up ranked at 22 with a record of 5-0. This is a big deal because Georgia Tech hasn’t beaten Miami in 5 years or been ranked in quite a while so after the victory all the students swarmed the field. The team worked hard for that win and every one of them was cheered for by all the people in the stadium. That win was a result of a lot of work off the field during the off season. The guys had to lift weights and run while no one was watching in order to celebrate with all of Georgia Tech that night. The same applies to life outside of sports. We all have to do our best when no one is looking. If we want to achieve our goals, we have to work those extra hours and stay up late after all of our co-works have left and our boss doesn’t know we’re still there. We have to do things we don’t like or don’t want to do knowing that it will all pay off one day.
The other thing that Derrick says that stood out to me was when he talked about sacrificing for the guys next to you. Getting ahead in life isn’t about stepping on people and pushing them down to achieve your goals. My first internship really emphasized the importance of team work. Our promotions to management were based off of the accomplishments of our team and not just on our results. We had to make sure our team was meeting their goals in order to meet our own goals. During my time there, my manager was always willing to meet with me when I was struggling and never looked down on me for asking questions. He made sure to keep in contact with me during the day to make sure I was doing alright and would answer my phone calls immediately. Between my last internship and the internship I have now working at Radius, I have learned firsthand the importance of team work in the office. There is a quote, “the sum is greater than its parts.” Just like Derrick was saying and what my last internship taught, to be successful, you have work hard and help the people around you. When people work together, they achieve more than any one of them could do individually. Georgia Tech’s running back is pretty good, but there is now way he would be able to win a game on his own. He requires help from the quarterback to give him the ball and the line men to take out the guys in front of them. Do your job to the best of your abilities and sacrifice every day to push your team toward success. If you do your job and remember to support the people that you’re working with, there is nothing that your organization will not be able to accomplish.
Sincerely,
Online Marketing Intern
I can’t believe it, but I’ve been here for almost a month and a half! It makes sense that the time has flown by, though, because there’s never a dull moment here. The past week especially has been a little crazy. Between a) having pro arm wrestler and Over the Top star Johnny “The Iceman” Walker come in to referee our arm wrestling competition and b) taking a quick (but very necessary) break to take pictures on top of the roof in our superhero costumes, we’ve been busy. As Guy mentioned yesterday, anyone who looks at our Instagram who’s not a part of Radius is probably pretty confused.
That constant energy doesn’t just apply to the culture — it also applies to the work. When not eating birthday cake, petting dogs, or running around taking pictures for the Radius Instagram, I’m working on a variety of design projects. The one I’ve been working on the most lately is RocketLevel, our new web hosting site. Because many companies offer web hosting, we’re making RocketLevel stand out through strong marketing, design, and branding. It’s been a lot of fun working through the look and functionality of the site with Caroline, Carolyn, Guy, and Montana, and, essentially, creating something from scratch. I’m excited for it to finally launch — it shouldn’t be too much longer!
Over the past few weeks, I’ve learned so much about using WordPress themes and plug-ins to take a bunch of ideas and make them into something tangible. And by working on RocketLevel, CarCareCONNECT, and eDentalImage, I’ve also learned a lot about site functions and designs that can lead to greater conversion rates — a real-world application to my college courses, which often separated design and marketing rather than exploring how the two work together. Being at a company with a great culture and a range of projects has been nothing but awesome so far, and I can’t wait to see what else it brings!
Sincerely,
Online Marketing Intern
I’m a late addition to the online marketing interns here at RadiusOnline. You probably never would have known it though, as I have been quickly accepted and thrown into the fire. I’ve loved what I’ve gotten to do so far, and it has been like drinking from a fire hose. It is very possible that I’ve learned more in my first week here than I have this entire semester of school.
What my focus has been these first couple of days is looking at the data that Bronwyn has collected and trying to see it in an intelligent way. It looks like a lot of numbers and confusion at first, but as I’ve dove more deeply into it, it becomes more clear what we can learn from it. One of these things is that the design of the website is absolutely crucial to your conversion rate. For example, what does the amount of time spent on the website tell us? Or is the website effective in getting people to read the relevant information that leads to a sale? These questions are some of many that need to be answered and it is awesome that I get to be a part of it.
One of the coolest parts of looking at all this data is what you can actually learn about your customers. Pinpointing where people are accessing your website from, the types of devices they are using and what people are searching to get to your site all tell you something different about your customer. Making the conclusions about your customers based on this information, while difficult, can lead to tremendous success if done correctly.
RadiusOnline has already been a great experience for me and I can’t wait to see what it does for me moving forward.
This is my first online marketing intern job in the USA and I love it. For me, Radius Online is not a company, but it’s like a family because you can talk, ask for help and have fun with everyone. The work environment is awesome. So far I have been working and learning a lot of things that are not only about coding, but also about sales, marketing, planning, and so on. The first 2-3 weeks I worked on the Shape and Handwriting Recognition Project. It is a very cool and awesome project, but obviously it is a complicated project. However, I have made some progresses such as I could make a program to recognize simple shapes like rectangles, triangles, and so on. Now I have been working on the site analytics project which is about how to rank any website based on searching engine optimization (SEO). Up to now, it is almost done — we can get information from a website to rank their website, capture the screenshots of their websites, and generate PDF files from their website. To conclusion, I really love learning new things, working on awesome projects and helping the company.
Technology is improving rapidly, and these innovations are important not only with the work we do here as RadiusOnline Online Marketing Interns, but in other industries as well. One of my favorite new innovations is the 3D printing of food products.
Chocolate is one of my greatest loves, so naturally I was ecstatic when I heard about the new technological capabilities that enable the 3D-printing of chocolate. Riding the wave of improvements in 3D printers, a group of students at India’s Manipal Institute of Technology took it upon themselves to pursue a radical and life-changing idea: to 3D print food. From this idea, the team formed the start-up Global 3D Labs and the latest and greatest 3D printer was born: the ChocoBot. This novel 3D printer is built with capabilities to 3D print custom-designed chocolates, decorations, and icing, and is on track to be sold commercially within the month at about $1000. Unfortunately, this printer still suffers from the same limitations as other 3D printers in the industry, namely the time needed to print the product, but with more technological advances, this machine could become widely used by confectioners and companies such as Nestle and Hershey. And I may just have to purchase one for my personal use.
Over the last few weeks, I have been working on a project that involves marketing metrics. I’ve always been a math person, but marketing math is something totally different. In marketing math, it is less about the numbers and more about what they mean. In a way, these numbers teach you how people think. I like to think that by doing marketing math I am kind of doing business psychology. By looking at data and seeing how people respond to advertising on a base level, you learn how to better position your company so that people connect and take action toward becoming a client. You want to make sure they are engaged with what you are doing at all times and on all fronts. You need to make sure they are opening your emails, clicking that big orange button, and reading your posted content.
The tricky part about marketing analytics is determining what information is important and what is not. With the expansion of digital marketing, companies are working hard to provide information on every aspect of digital marketing campaigns. You can find anything and EVERYTHING about what your visitors are doing and all those numbers can be overwhelming. In order to even begin to strategize about what numbers to track, you need to look at the business goals of your company. What is your end goal? What parts of the marketing strategy do you consider most important? What areas are you struggling in? What does your sales/marketing/management team need to know to do better? I’m not saying that some things won’t be the same for every company. I have done enough research to notice a few common things that managers need to look at such as traffic on your website, followers on social media, average page loading time, etc. In the end though, it’s all about you and your company needs.
It’s important to remember that you’re never locked into recording one set of metrics. You can always add some later or get rid of a few that you realize you don’t really need. Measuring marketing data is fluid and customization. Feel free to experiment with it. Also, remember that all the numbers you receive have a financial value. Each part of the digital marketing process helps push people to buy so each part is an investment with a return value. You need to keep this idea in the back of your mind so that the numbers carry more value to you than just interesting facts to know. Managers like to know about the bottom line and most could care less about the number of people click on the blog page until they realize that those people are 20% more likely to buy from them after visiting that page. The job of a marketing professional is to take marketing data and make it make sense to managers by presenting them with financial facts. If you can take marketing math and show projected revenue, you are well on your way to being successful on the digital front.
Sincerely,
Online Marketing Intern
When I first stumbled upon the RadiusOnline online marketing intern application, it was immediately clear to me that this company is different from most. One quick look at their Instagram and you get an instant peek into a company culture that is anything but corporate — co-workers chatting on beanbags, enjoying Atlanta food favorites, and lounging with dogs. The agency-like setting appealed to me, but what stood out even more was the team’s commitment to working together and getting to know each other outside of the office.
Because I graduated in May 2014, I’m able to be at Radius almost full-time — something I’ve really enjoyed so far! After college, I wanted to find something that could combine my interests in design and marketing — and I found it in Radius!
So far I’ve worked mainly on WebSoCast — a cool app that will allow clients to create their own digital coupons and promotions. I’ve been working on creating design templates that are a little different from the “generic” coupons you flip through or tend to ignore. Now I’m working on a variety of projects, from helping RocketLevel’s branding to brainstorming ways to use design to drive sales!
I’m also excited for our Intern Project. We’ve decided to boost RadiusOnline’s social media presence by consistently updating the Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Hopefully this will allow the public (and potential clients!) to become more aware of our brand and our company goals. I love that I’m already getting to try something new and fun while helping the company!
When this summer began, I couldn’t help but compare it to the last. A year ago I was gallivanting around Europe accompanied by a sole care: have as much fun as the human body could possibly process. And I did just that. I had never felt more alive. I came back to America feeling as if I had maxed out on excitement for the rest of my life. Pieces of myself remained in Paris, Rome, and countless other cities across the map. I had a hard time believing the upcoming summer would impact me as much as my time in Europe had. Boy, was I wrong.
My online marketing internship with RadiusOnline has given me more than I could have asked for. I have gained confidence and irreplaceable mentors. But most importantly, I have been welcomed into a new family. Each person at RadiusOnline has impacted me in a special way. I feel more fulfilled than ever before. Now the summer of 2014 is the one to beat!
Wow, I can’t believe my time as a RadiusOnline online marketing intern is coming to an end. Another summer has already flown by. As I am entering my final week here, I am realizing just how fortunate I am to have been given this opportunity. RadiusOnline is truly a one-of-a-kind place filled with some of the most wise, creative, passionate, and fun people I’ve ever met. A couple things they have taught me:
1. It’s important to be a student and a teacher, to listen and to speak up.
2. Set big goals and just go for them!
3. It’s okay to mess up along the way.
4. Atlanta is full of super cool places to eat, drink, and be merry.
5. Everyone is uniquely talented.
6. It really is possible to love your job.
7. Be open to new ideas, there’s a lot of good ones out there.
8. There’s always more to learn.
9. Never stop trying to be better.
10. BE AWESOME, DO AWESOME THINGS.
My experience may have been short, but it was fulfilling in every way. I can now begin senior year at Liberty even more confidently knowing that I’ve grown as an intern in the office, and as a person beyond the work space.
RadiusOnline is a magical place, and I will never forget the lessons and memories created in our space. In the next couple weeks I will make my way back to Georgia Tech, but I will be returning with a new perspective. This short summer has been packed with an incredible amount of information. I could not imagine a more creative and inspiring environment. Being an online marketing intern here has been great.
RadiusOnline has taught me to think big, welcome challenge, and never underestimate myself. I am leaving here with an even greater excitement for the world, and how I can make a greater impact with everything I have learned.
“If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” -Isaac Newton
The people here make this place special. They are the “giants” from which I have been able to learn so much, and I would not have had this experience without them. They challenged me to explore new subjects, take on new projects, and expand my thinking in ways I never thought possible. It is going to be hard transitioning to life without this team.
It’s as simple as that.
I know it may sound cliché and you hear people say it all the time, but words are meaningless unless you truly believe them. This year, something within me has changed and I have felt this change physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually—pretty much throughout every aspect of my life. This year, I’ve become very familiar with something called happiness. This year, I’ve woken up each and every morning knowing that life really is good. It’s an overwhelmingly wonderful way to live.
So what changed exactly? I don’t know if I can fully answer that question, but I do know that it begins with your outlook on life, including how you perceive experiences, what you allow yourself to think, and with whom you surround yourself. If you make it a goal to start and end each day with positivity, you learn to find and appreciate the people and things that make you happy instead of wasting your time on worthless dilemmas. Sure, life happens and obstacles are presented in your path, but it’s important to not let struggles and disappointments bring you down in the long run. Accept the bad days and treasure the good days because both develop you as a person, and choose to let it develop you in a way that makes you better than you were yesterday. In the end, everything works out.
Buddha said, “When you realize how perfect everything is, you will tilt your head back and laugh at the sky.” One day when you just find yourself driving around or sitting there, smiling in awe of the life with which you’ve been blessed, you too will realize that life is good. Messy, difficult, confusing, and imperfect actually, but good. More recently and especially this summer during my awesome internship at RadiusOnline, I’ve focused on taking chances, seizing opportunities, trying new things, making every day count, and just enjoying the moment. I guess you could say it has been my own personal happiness project, and I guess it’s working.
Sincerely,
Online Marketing Intern
I don’t know what I’m doing. Thank God, I’m blessed with a subtle RBF to make it look like I completely know what I’m doing, to make it look like I’m zoning in and killing it. Consistently having a mug of coffee in my hand adds a nice dash of artful know-how. Cross my legs and raise my eyebrows disdainfully, and no one will question. Actually they do anyways, but it helps, I think.
It’s been a few weeks now since I’ve joined the RadiusOnline team as a online marketing intern, and it still hasn’t fully hit me how blessed I am to be a part of it. Actually, I still can’t believe I was accepted for the position. Since day one, the team has been nothing but warm, welcoming, and helpful. I’ve been making short films and other such projects for most of my college career, but I’ve never had to make something with these kinds of stakes and have a whole company to represent well, so I’m doing my best so they can come out on top.
Now I’m churning out a video at least once a week. My production levels have risen exponentially and I’ve learned After Effects, and am more comfortable with Adobe Premiere than ever. Needless to say, the amount I’ve learned in such a short time is incredible.
I’m thankful to be a part of the team, and I look forward to the days ahead. Although I still pray to my Greek deity, Bullshiticus, every day before I sit down at my desk, I’m slowly getting more and more comfortable with my position and what I do. And I’m sure I’ll know what I’m doing, sooner than later.

If you could imagine your perfect work environment, what would it be? Would there be bean bag chairs and ice pops on the reg? Would it be dog friendly? Would you be surrounded by crazy passionate people?
Well my friends, this dream is the reality here at RadiusOnline.
Never in my life have I experienced a work environment so attuned to the word AWESOME. The company mantra is “Be Awesome, and Do Awesome Things,” and it is evident in every facet of the company.
The environment is nurturing and inspired. You never know what friendly face will greet you at the door, whether it’s Brittany the design guru or one of our many furry friends. The music is on point, and there is always a hot pot of coffee waiting when you come in. Everything in the office screams dream big and work hard.
This is a place where all kinds are welcome. Every day I learn an incredible amount about analytics, management, and digital marketing. Ideas are encouraged from all parties, whether you’re an intern or veteran. This collaboration brings all of our work to the next level.
Beyond the work, people here are much more than co-workers; RadiusOnline is a family. Whether you are taking on a new role at another company, or going through a tough loss, the team is right there with you. Huge thanks to RadiusOnline for this incredible opportunity, to be a part of something so much bigger than myself. It is powerful.
Sincerely,
Online Marketing Intern
Everyone loves food. I’m pretty sure that’s a known fact. It’s a source of happiness and satisfaction, and a common language over which people can easily bond.
I was born and raised as a Georgia girl, but city life is all new to me especially since I go to school in the middle of the mountains, too. Since interning at RadiusOnline, I’ve been exposed to so many new experiences in the office as well as out of the office. Designing my days away and learning about the marketing business world gets exhausting, but I’ve definitely been fueling my mind and body with delicious food from the best spots around Atlanta.
I’ve always loved adventuring and checking out local restaurants while learning about the culture of different areas. Really, I just love places and people with uniqueness and character. I believe that everyone has a story and a dream, and I feel like Atlanta is full of them. And food trucks. After all, what’s better than a restaurant on wheels that comes to you? From King of Pops to Highlands Bakery, they are pretty much a genius idea, and luckily, they visit us on Means Street on a weekly basis! All I have to do is walk outside and I have something new to taste.
Every single day I probably hear about at least two new food venues to check out so I decided to slowly build my food bucket list for the summer, and now I am determined to try them all. Some of my favorite spots so far have been HankookTaqueria and Seven Lamps, but I can’t wait to try more like Antico and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. Seriously though, the list just keeps getting longer and longer. I might be very broke and also slightly obese by the end, but it will be so worth it.
Sincerely,
Online Marketing Intern
“The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don’t play together, the club won’t be worth a dime.”
— Babe Ruth
Every team has its own culture and style, but what makes a great team is its ability to work together. At RadiusOnline, teamwork means more than just achieving a simple, commercial goal. We work together to solve challenges no matter how daunting. After only a short time, I am already a part of RadiusOnline. The team is a big family and everyone does their best to help the team as a whole.
Last week, we went to watch a baseball game together at Turner Field. This was my first baseball game in the US, so everything was new to me and I really enjoyed it. The Braves did their job, and didn’t let the Rockies score the entire game.
After the game we were planning to go to the bar together, but suddenly a rude man hit our friend’s car, and attempted to make a getaway. Luckily, due to the high volume of traffic he had to wait in the line of cars. All of our team members did what they could to give the driver what he deserved (well…we didn’t do anything illegal lol). We recorded the car’s license plates and found several witnesses. The police got the guy in no time.
What really impressed me is that no one thought this is none of his or her business. And once again, the team proved that they’re a unit, and could solve any problem that stands in our way.
Thank you RadiusOnline. I’ve learned a lot from you all, and I’ll do my best to return the favor. I’m really looking forward to the rest of this wonderful summer as a online marketing intern.
At RadiusOnline, it’s not just about working hard and trying to get tasks done. It’s also about how to maintain your work-life balance. I had the opportunity to spend this past weekend with four colleagues in New Orleans and the trip was unforgettable.
Years ago, my father went to Tulane University, a couple minutes from New Orleans, and I heard stories about the city growing up. I’ve heard about some of what the city has to offer, but experiencing it first hand was truly amazing. The culture, food and spending time getting to know some of my teammates is something that I will never forget about my time in N’awlins.
New Orleans has so much history and many unique things, such as their specialty drinks and food. I never knew what étouffée, jambalaya, gumbo, or po-boys were, but I do now and can say that I like New Orleans cuisine. One of the restaurants we went to was ACME Oyster House. I wasn’t a big fan of oysters before, but now I am. Their chargrilled Parmesan oysters were delicious and changed my view on oysters.
I spent the whole last day in New Orleans at the St. John bayou kayaking, enjoying the music festival, and eating all the local foods. I couldn’t ask for better weather; it was a nice, hot, sunny day and everyone was having a great time. When we got home my arms were red and we couldn’t tell if it was because of an allergic reaction to seafood or a sunburn. It was definitely sunburn. I forgot to apply sunblock that day. Street-smart rule I learned from this trip was definitely applying a lot of sunscreen.
Work-Life Balance is very important; make the best out of everything and embrace what life brings to you. Given that reason, I want to share a short video in which I found relevant and also inspiring.
It would be nice if you can spare 7 mins of your day to watch this video.
I’m sure that you will love it.
Have a great week ahead at RadiusOnline, and remember to wear sunscreen.
Sincerely,
Online Marketing Intern
So you’re done with school/work/internships for the Spring and you want to do nothing but sleep until August. Be careful though, studies show up to 50% of the knowledge you gain during the school year can be lost during the summer. So how do you avoid this loss? How do you stay motivated and avoid the Summer Slump?
Grab a good book: Don’t read because you have to, read because you enjoy the story. Anything from Harry Potter to Game of Thrones to whatever you find interesting can help your brain retain knowledge as well as think critically.
Use technology: We’re surrounded by smartphones, tablets, and computers everywhere we go – why not put them to good use? Learn a new subject using Khan Academy, watch a TED Talk to become inspired, or go on YouTube just to find something you find interesting (examples: Minute Physics and CrashCourse). Whatever you do on the internet, use it to to help expand your mind.
Get into a routine: Waking up at the same time everyday helps your brain to prepare for the day. Exercising helps release endorphins which not only make you feel good, they help retain memories. Healthy body = healthy mind.
Enjoy your summer: Whether you landed an awesome internship, decided to study abroad, or are spending quality time with your family, make sure you take the time to simply close off your brain and relax. Whether that is done by going to the park, visiting the beach, or sitting at home binge-watching Netflix, take time to unwind and de-stress. You deserve it!
Sincerely,

If you would have asked me one week ago what came to mind when I heard the word “office”, I would have responded without skipping a beat: cubicles, clammy, and claustrophobic. I pictured employees trapped in a workspace no bigger than a matchbox. Bosses in Yves Saint Laurent suits roaming the office floor like a lion in the Sahara waiting to pounce on its prey that failed to meet a deadline. Interns running from the computer to the printer three stories up, all the while juggling six Venti Americanos with three pumps hazelnut sweeter and an inch of soymilk in one hand. It goes without saying that I was very nervous for my first day of work.
On Monday, with breath held and tensions high, I opened the doors of RadiusOnline. Immediately, my preconceived notions were shattered. I was greeted with a warm smile and then was taken on a tour to meet the rest of the team. To my surprise, the office was completely open, no cubicles or doors. Some members the of staff were sharing ideas on bright orange bean bags and others were coding new material for the launch of RadiusOnline’s newest app for mobile phones. Every aspect of this business exuded innovation and energy.
After meeting everyone I would be working alongside with for the next three months, I was led to my new workstation. I almost thought it was some sort of mistake when I was placed at a desk near my boss. Wasn’t an intern supposed to be out of sight until someone needed a top off of his or her chai tea latte?
What I have come to find out this first week is that RadiusOnline breaks rules the stereotypical corporate world has laid out. The individuals here are not bound by some sort of social ladder or task list. Risk is not feared, but taken on enthusiastically. Without breaking boundaries, growth will never be achieved. This is the mantra that this company lives by.
Vu, the creator of the company, invited me to attend a meeting with NAPA to meet the President and Vice President of the business on my second day of work. I even got to star in a promotional video for their new app called WebSoCast! I have already experienced more from RadiusOnline in the first week than I ever fathomed I would in the entire summer! This is because Vu and his team see potential in people before they even see it themselves.
I am thankful RadiusOnline saw something special in me. I cannot wait to see where this summer takes me!
Sincerely,
Online Marketing Intern
Hello there. This is perhaps the first time I have greeted anyone on this blog post. Up until now I have been off the radar by comparison to the other awesome interns here. Since this is my first and, seemingly, last time I may be writing to any incoming interns, I want say welcome to RadiusOnline. This place is a blast to work in, everyone here has become an amazing and unforgettable part of my life. No matter where my future may lead me I know that this place will always remain in my memories.
I’ve learned many things here and honed my craft. If any of you have seen a video posted by our team I probably had a hand in it. Although I never imagined I would be in the field of digital marketing specifically, Radius has shown me that it could hold a promising future. Everyone here has helped me reach to a new level that I wouldn’t have reached anywhere else. RadiusOnline has shown me the powerful potential of videos for digital marketing.
This summer I will start working towards reaching a major goal in my life. I plan to submit a film to the Atlanta Film Festival and work on many more individual projects that hopefully will place me on a promising path. It’s one of the riskiest endeavours I’ve ever tried to reach but I’m motivated to try.
I mention this because this motivation came from working here at RadiusOnline. After working at an ambitious company like this, there isn’t any surprise that it has latched onto me. Whether you plan to continue in the field of digital marketing or choose a different path, RadiusOnline is a perfect starting point. You will learn lessons for both business and life that will help you achieve success wherever you go. So for the lucky ones who are joining this amazing team: Congratulations! Prepare for an AWESOME experience at RadiusOnline.

This photo of the Polyvore account for Ivylish really does a good job depicting my time at Radius. It symbolizes the way I was able to express my creativity through the creation of different outfits that incorporated Ivylish jewelry. Managing the Polyvore account was my favorite project for Ivylish because it was exciting and fun! Even though my job included many more tasks, I wanted to share on my favorite one in this last post.
Each outfit I created was a little different, which helps our consumers see all the different ways Ivylish jewelry can be worn. Some sets feature the jewelry with an outfit that can be worn to the office, and others an outfit that can be worn to the beach. Incorporating the jewelry in so many different looks helped me see the many different ways one piece could be styled and how our jewelry could be worn by anyone. This creative and fashionable project enabled me to do what I love: create new styles. I so lucky to have the opportunity to work on a project that is so different innovative. Check out the full Ivylish Polyvore page at this link!

It’s amazing how quickly a place can become like a home. I’ve only really worked at Radius for 3 months, but it feels like it’s been a lot longer. I guess that’s happens when you combine a great environment with incredible people.
I’ve learned so much from my internship at RadiusOnline. When I came into this office I knew little more about digital marketing than what I’d read online. Now I not only know what digital marketing is, but I’ve been a hands on participant in the process. During my internship I’ve helped write out the processes for all of the major departments in Radius, have helped brainstorm the development of a web app, and have entered a lot of words for SEO.
Working at RadiusOnline has already taught me more than I could have imagined. It will be difficult to take a two month break.
Right after finals I’ll be leaving Atlanta to go on a study abroad program in Eastern Europe to learn about social Entrepreneurship. I’ll get to spend 6 weeks traveling throughout Budapest, Prague, and Krakow.
I am so excited and thankful to have this incredible opportunity, but I know that I will miss my team here at RadiusOnline. When I return to work in July there will be a whole new batch of interns, and I will have changed over to a part time employee. It will be strange to see a new group take shape, but I am excited to help them get acclimated.
To any new interns who may be reading this post, welcome! You have become a part of one of the most awesome teams out there!

As my closing thoughts, I decided I would make an infographic summarizing our time as interns here at RadiusOnline. I have enjoyed my time here doing videos with Sally and Josue, working on this intern blog with the whole team, and of course making infographics. I cannot wait to see what the next group of interns brings to the table!
The A Team

I’m a people person. I enjoy being around people, I like having people to eat with and I love having people to work with. There are a lot of things I will miss about RadiusOnline, but what I will miss most is it’s people.
When I first arrived at Radius six months ago I was the only intern. This didn’t keep me from being immediately inducted into the Radius ‘family’. Within a few weeks I was attending a wedding, joining in birthday celebrations, and participating in potlucks and competitions. Throughout my time here I have been able to witness the company grow in both size and closeness.
In an internship it is important to produce work that is meaningful. It is important to develop skills and to create experiences that will have an impact on your life. I could go on about the variety of projects I was able to accomplish or about the crazy number of skills I learned, but none of those would have mattered nearly as much to me if I dreaded waking up to go to work every morning. In 2.5 weeks I will be graduating from Georgia Tech and in 2.5 weeks I will be one step closer to being an ‘adult’. I can only hope that in my future I will be blessed to have a job that will provide me as much satisfaction as this one.
I am going to miss RadiusOnline. I am going to miss our team meetings on Mondays, and I am going to miss wearing jeans. I will miss learning about my fellow interns through their insightful blogs, and I will miss the projects I have been working on for the entirety of my stay. I will miss the random dogs that run around the office and the chocolate candy that taunts me throughout the day, but most importantly, I will miss being a small part of a small company that makes big things happen.

As my time at Radius comes to a close, I have had time to sit back and reflect on all that I have learned and the friendships that I have made.
I have been able to interact with every type of employee here at Radius. I have been able to learn a lot and teach others regardless of their tenure here.
My experience at Radius has been unique. My time here has helped me learn and grow tremendously. As the only data analytics intern, I’ve had a lot of freedom. The full time employees have trusted that I know what I am doing and have been there to help me in any way that they can. A lot of what I have been doing has been based on my own knowledge of numbers and analytics and applying what I have learned throughout my education. Application of skills is the best way to instill them within yourself and I have been able to display this in my work.
The culture here at Radius is the perfect balance between “get it done” and casual. While getting work done is an important trait of Radius employees, one does not feel immense pressure from their superiors. Everyone is self motivated which allows the company to have a more relaxed feel.
Having fellow interns has also been one of the highlights of this internship. It has created great resources for collaboration but also great friendships. Working together on intern projects and hearing about the other intern’s progress on their individual projects provides inspiration for my own work.
Ultimately my time here at Radius has proven to be a great stepping stone for the rest of my career. As I make my move to New York City, I will take what I have learned and the friendships that I have made with me. Whenever any of the Radius team happen to be in ”the city” (what us northerners call it) I expect them to let me know so that we can grab coffee/lunch/dinner or all three!

May 12 is about a month away. For everyone at Radius, this will be a typical Monday. A day for the team to catch up from the weekend and create goals to accomplish for the week.
For me, May 12th will be very different. It will be a day that I will never forget. It will be the day that I graduate from college and receive my diploma from Emory University.
I have a variety of different feelings when thinking about graduation; Excitement, Fear, Accomplishment, Nervousness, Happiness. In essence it will be bittersweet.
I have been a student for the past 17 years. It is all I know. Yes, I have had summer jobs and summer internships but those have always had an end date. Upon graduation, I embark on the rest of my life.
My internship at Radius this semester will prove to be very useful in helping me become accustomed to the real world and the truth of working full-time. This internship has taught me that:
1. Waking up early to go to my job will be okay as long as I enjoy what I am doing and see progress in my work.
2. Coworkers are a cool resource to have. Whether it be their daily words of inspiration or a cool article they send out to the team, they are always full of ideas.
3. Transparency is very important to ensure job satisfaction. The ability to express successes and concerns and feeling comfortable doing so will help you get your job done more efficiently.
There are also things that I must do to prepare for Graduation. These include:
1. Finishing out the year with good grades and not letting “senioritis” take over. (Doing well so far!)
2. Spending time with my friends. We all are likely to be in different cities next year so we must enjoy the time we have together.
3. Creating an Atlanta bucket list so that I can take full advantage of this great city.
4. HAVING FUN!
While this is a very scary time for seniors it is also a very exciting time. While I will miss college immensely, I am very excited to see where my path takes me.
Sincerely,
Online Marketing Intern
In the same way that preparing to go on vacation is challenging, returning to work or school is equally or even more challenging. Here are a few tips to help you get back in the swing of things:
Pre-plan: Take some time to prepare for your first day back at the office by outlining your goals. People who write down their goals on paper are more likely to accomplish them. Don’t get too wrapped up in your pre-planning though, you need to enjoy where you are at.
Re-group: If you have the flexibility to take a day to get back on your feet take that time to truly rest. Do not look at your email, do not fret over what’s waiting for you at the office, just unpack and get your life back to normal.
Get Healthy: It’s easy to get out of a normal sleep/workout routine while on vacation. When you come back home one of the best things that you can do is get back to your normal routine. Put away the junk food and hop back on the treadmill!
Ease back in: You aren’t going to be able to catch up on everything in one day. Rather than allowing yourself to become overwhelmed by the volume of work you have, set parameters for yourself and stick to them. For example, your goal for day one can be to go through all of the old materials
Enjoy the Homecoming: Don’t be afraid to share about your trip in the office when it’s appropriate. More than likely the people around you will want to hear about your adventures. While sharing do be aware of body language that may indicate boredom. Don’t take offense, just casually change the conversation.
Remember, it’s normal to miss being on vacation. Don’t let real life get you down for long though! Following these tips and looking for exciting things to do at home will get you back on track in no time!
Sincerely,
Online Marketing Intern
Wouldn’t it be nice to get things done by noon? It may sound impossible to many, but it shouldn’t be. Everybody procrastinates, we know. Procrastination is never about knowing when to start, instead it’s knowing when to stop. Doesn’t make any sense, right? Well, it shouldn’t at first. Like a runner, one has to begin in order to finish. And if you’ve begun, there won’t be no need to procrastinate.
Many of us measure work by the number of hours we spend. A lot of times we forget to measure how many tasks were accomplished. Your energy, and not your time, matters the most when getting things done. No matter how exhausted you are, managing your tasks with productivity, along with energy, will help you do better.
Make a to-do list starting each week, with everything you want to accomplish in the next seven days. Separate your daily goals from your weekly goals. On workdays, focus only on completing your daily goals. Doing this, you develop a main focus of getting things done. Also, knowing that you’re good throughout the week, you get to relax and finish the day early without feeling guilty.
As a college student, it’s very important that I get my work done at RadiusOnline on time. Because I’m not only an intern, I’m taking five classes and I also have a part-time job. I make sure that the night before I go to the office I make a list of things I want to accomplish for that day. And right before the week starts, I make sure that I also make a list of things I want to get done for the entire week. For example, I make a list of posts I want posted on Facebook or pictures I want on Instagram and what topic I want to address in the first week of April or so. Every day, I set goals for myself. As an intern, it is very important for me to know and plan the tasks I want to get done for the day. I wanna go in the office with a mindset of going prepared to get things done. So, know your work and get whatever needs to be done!
Sincerely,
Online Marketing Intern
I have officially begun the countdown. 3 more days until I depart on my senior year Spring Break trip to Savannah, GA. As I tick off the days and my excitement grows, it’s easy to overlook all of the things that need to be done before I hop on the road and leave my worries behind. Almost all of the interns at Radius will be in and out of the office these next few weeks. That being said it’s crucial to keep a few things in mind so that we can still operate effectively. What could be more appropriate for my blog post than making a pre – Spring Break checklist to share with the crew?
Things to do before dropping off the planet for a week:
(1) Get your ducks in a line! No one likes when a co-worker leaves without finishing up crucial tasks or providing others a plan of action. Make sure to check in with your supervisors and task partners before ditching the mobile phones for a more carefree style of living.
(2) Disconnect responsibly. If you are planning on being out of contact for the entirety of your vacation, set up an automated email response or change your voicemail. Don’t lead others to believe you are ignoring them on purpose.
(3) Healthy Body, Healthy Mind. Junk food runs rampant on Spring Break. Don’t fall into the fast food trap by forgetting to bring some healthy snacks. Fruit, hummus, and protein bars are easy to snack on in the car, and peanut butter and bread will save you some serious dough once you get to your destination.
(4) Don’t be THAT girl (or boy). You WILL be the talk of the office, and everywhere else really, if you show back up looking like a lobster. Not only are sunburns dangerous and painful, but you look ridiculous. Buy plenty of sunscreen and apply generously.
(5) Treat yo self. It’s your Spring Break! One day you will never have a Spring Break again. Relax, get some Zzzzs and enjoy the much needed time off. Leave your stresses back home and you’re bound to have a much better time.
Whether you plan on relaxing at home and watching Netflix all day, or you’re planning to hit the sand with only a swimsuit and flip flops in tow, make sure to keep these housekeeping tips in mind so you aren’t entirely overwhelmed upon your grand return!
Sincerely,
Online Marketing Intern
What I love about working here at RadiusOnline is the group of talented and ambitious people I work with. I have begun to get to know my co-workers and fellow interns on a more personal level over the past few months, but I don’t know about many of their backgrounds. Each of us have those wonderful and sometimes embarrassing stories from our childhood, so I would like to highlight a couple of those so you can get to know our team better too!
“When I was younger I was unfortunate enough to have braces, glasses, and bangs all at the same time. Most of the pictures have failed to survive this era of my life, but somehow my siblings managed to get a hold of this one. Every couple weeks when one of them is having a bad day, I’ll receive a text message something like this… ‘I was having a bad day, until I remembered things could be worse!’ True sibling love right there.”
— Sydney
“I asked my mom recently if I did anything silly when I was little. Her response was ‘you mean other than smearing your food all over your face at every meal?’ Meal times have always been, and probably always will be, my favorite time of day.”
— Jessica
“Like most little girls I loved to play dress up as a child. Unlike most children, I often refused to get out of my dress up clothes and would remain in character for the rest of the day. I had partners in crime in these escapades. The main ones being my sister and cousin (both of whom are also in this picture). We were so goofy and really didn’t care what people thought of us. Looking at this picture reminds me to be creative and enjoy all of the parts of my day. In the office I have a tendency to want to just come in and accomplish my goals, but doing that can cause me to miss out on the fun of the journey. The balance between work in play is a fine line, but creativity can serve as a bridge between the two. When we let our childlike creativity come to work, excellence happens!”
— Caroline
“Since I was very young, my family has had a second house in Vermont near Stratton Mountain. Every weekend in the winter, my family, including my parents, two brothers and a sister, would drive the four hours from my home in New Jersey to spend time together. We would go skiing, make fires, go deck diving, sledding, and shopping. The home is very special to us and that is why we still own it today. Even though all the kids are spread across the US, we still have this house in Vermont that we can reunite in as we all grow up.”
— Rachel
Even though I have been working here less than two months, I already feel like the team members are more than just co-workers. These people are my friends. I don’t know everything about them, but as we continue to grow together we begin to learn more about where we all came from. Some of us came from all around the world, while others have spent their entire lives in this city. It may seem like we have we don’t have a lot in common sometimes, but looking back we’re actually not that different.
Sincerely,
Online Marketing Intern

I’ve been thinking a lot about what I’m going to write for my blog post and wondering about the best way to impart my experiences that I’ve had so far at Radius Online. Then I figured I’d like to do a short book review that explains how it’s been inspirational and very helpful to me while working at Radius Online as an intern. The book is titled “Wherever You Go There You Are” written by Jon Kabat-Zinn.
I still remember the first day I got to the office. It was after a strenuous flight from Arizona. The big poster “Done is Better than Perfect” in the meeting room at Radius Online office immediately caught my attention. I argued with my brother about how it was not so true, that I would rather to make something perfect or not do it at all. I mulled over the argument all day until bedtime. I was reminiscing the past when I realized how much time it took me to work for perfection and how many things I’ve missed out on in my life. Then I thought about the poster and whispered to myself “maybe it’s right…”
In his book, “Wherever You Go There You Are”, Jon Kabat-Zinn explains that “ordinarily, when we undertake something, it is natural to expect a desirable outcome for our efforts. We want to see results, even if it is only a pleasant feelings”. I realized that it’s better to be productive than being caught up in a moment with nothing done just because you are trying to seek for a “pleasant feeling”. That was the very first thing that I learned from Radius Online.
Radius Online gives me opportunities not only to work on online marketing, which is the field that I’m very interested in, but also to be surrounded and inspired from my great colleagues. At Radius Online, new ideas are poured out daily; a lot of projects for interns are already being worked on such as Monthly Trend Report, SWOT Analysis, Intern Blog, etc. Sometimes I get stressed out, I can’t imagine how much more stressful it must be for the other interns who are studying and working at the same time. Here’s a little corny pep talk for my fellow interns from the book.
“The challenge of mindfulness is to work with the very circumstances that you feel yourself in – no matter how unpleasant, how discouraging, how limited, how unending and stuck they may appear to be – and to make sure that you have done everything in your power to use their energies to transform yourself before you decide to cut your losses and move on. It is right here that the real work needs to happen”.
Whatever you are doing right now, going to school, working diligently at a fantastic office, studying for an upcoming exam, or practicing for our intern music video ;), remember to be mindful. At the end of the day the lesson is not only that “done is better perfect”, it will be done AND perfect.

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Radius Online Intern blog! We are very excited to launch our blog to keep everyone up to date on our projects, outings, and other exciting happenings. In order to form a more cohesive unit, we have decided to start calling ourselves, ‘The A Team’. As is obvious, being an intern at Radius Online is an exciting and fun opportunity that gives all interns the chance to learn about the Digital Marketing field while also getting the opportunity to present ideas to the entire company, work directly with customers, and even help conduct interviews.
A very important project we are in charge of is the Monthly Trend Report. The whole A-Team gathers information from web articles with the topic of Digital Marketing Trends. The information is then collated to form a report that we present to the rest of the team to update everyone on our findings. Being an intern at Radius Online is not the typical “making copies and getting coffee” internship. It is an opportunity to be integrated into the team and work alongside some of the best in the business! That being said, being an intern here is an absolute delight where coming to work is something to look forward to every day.
Now to introduce myself! I am Sara Duval, and my project at Radius Online is Ivylish. Ivylish is a very unique project that is all about selling premium fashion jewelry and using a portion of the profits to provide donations to give education to orphans in Vietnam. My job on the campaign is very exciting and involves using Polyvore, Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook marketing to promote the Ivylish jewelry. My days consist of finding new followers on these sites and promoting our products through fun contests, groups, creative pages and more! I think I probably have more fun at work than anyone I know! I love coming into the office every day with such a great group of people.
Keep checking out our Real World: Radius Online to follow the A-Team as we tackle new projects and have a blast in the process!
Sincerely
