Preparing for Graduation

April 04, 2014 Rachel Cooperberg

May 12 is about a month away. For everyone at Radius, this will be a typical Monday. A day for the team to catch up from the weekend and create goals to accomplish for the week.

For me, May 12th will be very different. It will be a day that I will never forget. It will be the day that I graduate from college and receive my diploma from Emory University.

I have a variety of different feelings when thinking about graduation; Excitement, Fear, Accomplishment, Nervousness, Happiness. In essence it will be bittersweet.

I have been a student for the past 17 years. It is all I know. Yes, I have had summer jobs and summer internships but those have always had an end date. Upon graduation, I embark on the rest of my life.

My internship at Radius this semester will prove to be very useful in helping me become accustomed to the real world and the truth of working full-time. This internship has taught me that:

1. Waking up early to go to my job will be okay as long as I enjoy what I am doing and see progress in my work.
2. Coworkers are a cool resource to have. Whether it be their daily words of inspiration or a cool article they send out to the team, they are always full of ideas.
3. Transparency is very important to ensure job satisfaction. The ability to express successes and concerns and feeling comfortable doing so will help you get your job done more efficiently.

There are also things that I must do to prepare for Graduation. These include:

1. Finishing out the year with good grades and not letting “senioritis” take over. (Doing well so far!)
2. Spending time with my friends. We all are likely to be in different cities next year so we must enjoy the time we have together.
3. Creating an Atlanta bucket list so that I can take full advantage of this great city.
4. HAVING FUN!

While this is a very scary time for seniors it is also a very exciting time. While I will miss college immensely, I am very excited to see where my path takes me.

Sincerely,
