The Makings of a Great Team

March 07, 2014 Jessica Roberts

What I love about working here at RadiusOnline is the group of talented and ambitious people I work with. I have begun to get to know my co-workers and fellow interns on a more personal level over the past few months, but I don’t know about many of their backgrounds. Each of us have those wonderful and sometimes embarrassing stories from our childhood, so I would like to highlight a couple of those so you can get to know our team better too!

“When I was younger I was unfortunate enough to have braces, glasses, and bangs all at the same time. Most of the pictures have failed to survive this era of my life, but somehow my siblings managed to get a hold of this one. Every couple weeks when one of them is having a bad day, I’ll receive a text message something like this… ‘I was having a bad day, until I remembered things could be worse!’ True sibling love right there.”

“I asked my mom recently if I did anything silly when I was little. Her response was ‘you mean other than smearing your food all over your face at every meal?’ Meal times have always been, and probably always will be, my favorite time of day.”

“Like most little girls I loved to play dress up as a child. Unlike most children, I often refused to get out of my dress up clothes and would remain in character for the rest of the day. I had partners in crime in these escapades. The main ones being my sister and cousin (both of whom are also in this picture).  We were so goofy and really didn’t care what people thought of us. Looking at this picture reminds me to be creative and enjoy all of the parts of my day. In the office I have a tendency to want to just come in and accomplish my goals, but doing that can cause me to miss out on the fun of the journey. The balance between work in play is a fine line, but creativity can serve as a bridge between the two. When we let our childlike creativity come to work, excellence happens!”

“Since I was very young, my family has had a second house in Vermont near Stratton Mountain. Every weekend in the winter, my family, including my parents, two brothers and a sister, would drive the four hours from my home in New Jersey to spend time together. We would go skiing, make fires, go deck diving, sledding, and shopping. The home is very special to us and that is why we still own it today. Even though all the kids are spread across the US, we still have this house in Vermont that we can reunite in as we all grow up.”

Even though I have been working here less than two months, I already feel like the team members are more than just co-workers. These people are my friends. I don’t know everything about them, but as we continue to grow together we begin to learn more about where we all came from. Some of us came from all around the world, while others have spent their entire lives in this city. It may seem like we have we don’t have a lot in common sometimes, but looking back we’re actually not that different.

Sincerely,
